This happened this morning. The smart playlists are all in my itunes and show up on my device in itunes but they will not show up on my phone. All of the non smart playlists are there. Ive updated itunes and tried syncing numerous times and nothing is bringing them back on my phone.

Suddenly I am not able to modify the settings for any of my Smart Playlists. I am able to get to the update mode (command+i) however if I modify the smart parameters it does not save or change the results of the settings.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm currently using a combination of normal and smart playlists in iTunes. I've got normal playlists for all my albums, and smart playlists for music I have as an album but never really listen to as an album, for example, my Jazz smart playlist consists every song with the genre as "Jazz".
Needless to say, this takes a lot of organizing but it's definitely worth it. Now I've been thinking about making them all Smart Playlists, this would make organizing even more miticulous, but there wouldn't be "accidents", like songs I accidently deleted from a playlist when hitting the delete button or w/ever.
Since smart playlists update on-the-spot if you add new songs, I was wondering if they use more CPU? iTunes is already a memory/resource hog, will adding hundreds of smart playlists make a big difference in resources used?
I created a smart playlist on my iTunes 10.6 that populates the list with randomly selected tunes that do not contain specific genres nor were played in the last 90 days to fill 3 hours. The songs that populate the list seem to meet those criteria. However, the songs that populate the list on my iPhone look nothing like the list on iTunes and includes songs I listened to yesterday even though I synced last night and this morning.Â
View 1 Replies View RelatedOn my setup on Windows it loads the playlists fine, the newest first in Itunes 9 itself but dis-ordered on my ipods. On the Ipod touch v1 with 3.1.1 Firmware I can't fathom how it's sorted, it's totally scrambled the order but on the Ipod Classic V1 160Gb it appears to be sorted via artist. Even if you re-sort it by clicking the date added column the order of the playlist and resync it makes no difference to either of them. Neither does deselecting, resyncing, unplugging -replugging adding back and syncing again.
Anyone else have this issue or am I in the minority of one?
EDIT: Looking at the Apple Support Forums it seems like Smart Playlists are broken for many users on both Windows and Mac. Itunes 9.01 will be on it's way shortly!
I use iTunes 10.6.1 (7) on Mac. I spend some time googling and searching for solutions for my problem, but everything is either outdated or simply doesn't work. I have a smart playlist with all songs that are matched on iTunes Match, but which are below 256k bitrate. I want to delete them from the library, so I can download new 256k versions of them. This is supposedly possible by using Option + Delete, but that doesn't work for me. I also tried all kinds of other combinations like SHIFT + Option + Delete or CRTL + Option + Delete and none of them work.

Have several smart play lists that select songs based on when they were last played, i.e. include songs that have not been played within the last 24 hours. When I sync my iPhone or iPad, all the music and the play lists are copied to the devices. However, the playlists are now empty on the devices (full on my Mac). If Live Updating is unchecked the play lists are full. Playing the a few songs on these lists and then checking Live Updating does not fix the issue. How can I get a smart playlist to use live updating and sync to iPhone or iPad?Â

If I create a smart playlist in itunes and deselect live updating then how exactly does the smart playlist load up?
The reason I ask is that started setting up Smart Playlists for all of the artists on my computer and they're all set to live update which is consequently slowing down my itunes. I realize that I may not necessarily need that. My question is though...how exactly would I go about manually updating a smart playlist that has live updating turned off?

I recently got a new mac and moved all my music over manually from my old mac.after finally setting it all up, and finally getting my playlists working in iTunes, I synced my iPhone 3GS with the new computer.Before syncing, I selected about 30 of my playlists to go onto the iPhone by checking their boxes under the "music" tab of my iPhone in iTunes on my mac. All the music in those playlists copied to my iPhone, and the titles of the playlists show up on my iPhone, BUT THEY ARE EMPTY..I've re-syncing like 30 times over the space of a month, and no deal. On my Mac, the playlists are just fine!Â

I have about 100 voice memos recorded on my iPhone 3GS and which have successfully synched with my MacBook Pro, which i recently upgraded to Lion. When I open up iTunes, there they all are listed in my Voice Memos playlist.Â
The voice memos are lists of french vocabulary and so I created themed playlists in iTunes on my mac and arranged the voice memos in the different playlists. When I open the playlists on my Mac's iTunes, they are all there. I have synced them with my phone and the name of the playlists appears on my phone but when I open the playlists, they are empty. I am manually selecting music and playlists to be synced. i have checked the boxes for:
sync music
selected playlists, artists...
playlists (the specific playlists)
and in the genres topic, i have selected voice memos i created a music playlist just now and that works fine, but not with memos.Â

My iPhone 5c used to sync with my old Windows laptop via iTunes and both devices held all music information on them such as iTunes rating, playlist information and the selected songs to be synced (there are more songs on my iTunes on my laptop than my iPhone).  All of these songs are also saved on an external hard drive. None were purchased through iTunes.
When my old Windows laptop died, it died abruptly so I did not have chance to consolidate the iTunes media folder. I have now bought a new MacBook Air to replace my old Windows laptop.
When I plug in my iPhone 5c to my new MacBook Air, when iTunes offers to sync it advises all information on my iPhone will be lost.
Is it possible to transfer the ratings and playlists from my iPhone to iTunes on my MacBook Air, at least for the corresponding songs that exist on my iPhone? Note I have the original songs on an external hard drive so the song files themselves do not have to copy across. All the files in the iPhone exist in the external hard drive.

Just like the title says Throughout the life of iTunes, I have been able to do this. Now, I cannot. It's super annoying, as I now have to go and sync each individual file. I've got thousands of files. It would drive me crazy to individually check each one to sync. Drag 'n' drop is much easier.Â
The only difference has been that I stopped using a mouse and began to use the Apple Magic Trackpad. I'm not sure if this has had any deleterious effect.Â

I purchased a couple TV shows on my iPhone, and they synced to my Mac.
I watched them on my Mac, and deleted them off my iPhone to save space, given their size. I also do NOT have the "sync new TV shows" box checked.
Yet, the shows keep re-syncing and loading onto my iPhone every time I sync. I suspect this has something to do with the fact that I purchased them on my iPhone. But how do I make this stop?

My laptop got stolen a few weeks ago, i've replaced it with a new MBP, and fortunatley I done a full backup at xmas time, so my computer is just like it was on the 23rd of December 2011. However, my iphone has a ton of new photos, music and playlists on it since that date.

Sync'd my iPhone with iTunes on my mac and lost all imported ringtones. I go to reset the alarm ringtone for example and cannot find any of my imported ringtones. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a HD movie that I bought from iTunes and when I want to sync the movie to my 4S, it only shows the SD version in itunes under the iphone 4s movie sync tab. It shows the HD version if I launch it from my imac, but for some reason I can't get it to sync the HD version to the 4S.Â
I did originally buy the HD movie on my 4S but had to download it at home on my mac due to large file sizes.Â
Any reason why my imac can see the HD movie but neither my iphone 4s or ipad 2 can sync the hd movie?Â

I am beyond frustrated right now. So far my transition to iPhone, iPad, and OS X has been really pleasant and convenient. This is just so beyond stupid though. Here is what I would like to happen:
I download podcasts on my phone while on the road, and I listen to them and delete them at my discretion. When I sync my phone to my computer, iTunes doesn't download any of the podcasts from my phone to the comptuer, nor does it delete them off my phone. That's ALL I want to happen.
Instead, I download podcasts on my phone, listen and delete them at my discretion, and that works fine. But when I sync to my computer, it is just an exercise in frustration. It downloads the podcasts from my phone to my computer/iTunes, even though I have gone through every setting to make sure "sync podcasts" is off. I do not want the files transferred to my limited desktop space. Furthermore, it sometimes decides to just delete the podcast off my phone entirely. I like to leave old podcasts on to re-listen to sometimes.Â

i Have an iPhone 6 (128Gb) with over 60gb of music synced and I have noticed that whenever I make several changes on my iTunes (genre changes, files directory changes, etc) to multiple songs and then try to sync it to my phone it gets stuck on the last step until I'm forced to unplugged the phone (trying to stop the sync doesn'to work).
Once I reconnect my phone and the backup process starts again all my music files now appear as "other" and thus ITunes now tries to sync all my music again causing an error message stating that I do not have enough capacity..Â
i Have tried to troubleshoot this issue to isolate the problem but with no success. I was just forced to reinstall all my apps and music once again and I am extremely annoyed since it happens quite often (since I do end up editing large amount of songs on a constat basis). after making all those changes on ITunes i always make sure ITunes recognizes those files. I try to close and open iTunes to ensure it updates its library and all the files' links. All songs do appear and play normally on iTunes. Everything works on iTunes but then when I plug in my phone all new or modified songs appear grayed out with the circle to the left (indicating they will be synced, but it never happens)
