My dad just bought the $1999 model of the new MacBook Pro a few days ago. Previously he had a MacBook Pro with a 2.16 GHz Core 2 Duo processor in it. We used target disk mode to transfer all of the data over and everything went fine. The only problem now is in System Preferences when using the screen savers his favorite iTunes album artwork screen saver is not working saying there is no album artwork in iTunes which isn't true (I checked ). When in that preference it causes System Preferences to slow down to the point where I need to force quit it and it causes the application to crash.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm constantly trying to update the artwork in iTunes with my own artwork, but I've noticed that with some songs, about a minute or two after I've updated the artwork, the old artwork pops back in its place.Â

When selecting the iTunes Artwork screensaver and running "Test", the screen is Black or Blank (no Artwork). I left it running for over and hour and the artwork never appeared. I have tons of artwork in my iTunes library and checked it after launching iTunes. The preview window for the screensaver is also blank and does *not* say "Your iTunes library does not contain any songs with artwork".
- Consolidating / Rebuilding Library from iTunes. Then trying the screensaverÂ
- Launching iTunes while holding "Option" key. Selecting the correct ~/Music/iTunes library again, then trying the screensaverÂ
- Deleting the ~/iTunes/Album Artwork folder. Launching iTunes again. Downloading some album art. Trying the screensaver.Â

I did a restore from a Time Machine backup. Now my iTunes Artwork screen saver isn't working. I'd try to do a reinstall from the Time Machine again to see if it still is a problematic, but I was an idiot and deleted it and backing up fresh. I've repaired permissions. I've gotten album artwork. My music folder reads like this. User/Music/iTunes. Inside are two folders. One "Album Artwork" the other "iTunes Media." Inside the "Album Artwork" folder is "Cache" and "Download."
View 2 Replies View Relatedso this has happened twice now in the past month, my mb is in screen saver mode and i wake it up to find that the color is off in the screen. meaning that the color settings changed and the screen has a swashed out blue tint to it. first time i restarted and all was good, second time i clicked on the preferences icon and then the screen went back to its normal setting. my normal setting is not the factory one but one of the ones that people said makes the screen look better.
so what gives, is the integrated chip dieing on me?
oh its a unibody that i got when they first came out, 2.0 processor one all factory

When my MacBook Pro 13" i5 goes into screen saver mode, which is black, it won't return to normal mode. Tried all keys, trac pad, closing the lip and re-opening it, and it won't respond. The only thing that works is holding down power button for hard shutdown, then restarting it. It has happened 8 times in the last 2 weeks.

I have a Quad Core Mac Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.4. I've been having this issue for the past couple of weeks. Basically I have my monitor set to turn off after after 15 minutes of inactivity, my Mac Pro is always on. After 5 minutes of inactivity my screensaver comes on and stays on until my monitor turns off. When I move my mouse to wake my monitor, sometimes an image from the screensaver appears onscreen for a few seconds and then disappears when my desktop appears.
I have repaired Permissions, rebuilt my drive using Disk Warrior, installed the 10.6.4 Combo update but the issue remains. An image from the screensaver doesn't always appear when I turn on my monitor, this issue is sort of random. Usually my desktop appears right away with no static image from the screensaver.
Does a Screen Saver really save your screen? If yes how so?
View 5 Replies View Relatedmy mac pro freezes every so often while the screen saver is on. not sure if it really has anything to do with the screen saver or not, but was wondering if anyone knew what was going on
View 24 Replies View RelatedThis is really annoying me. What could cause my screen saver to not activate?I've got it set to activate after 3 minutes. I just can't think of a reason why it's not working. I've just reinstalled Leopard (not because of this) and I had the same problem before.I did wonder if the iStat menu's were keeping the screen saver from kicking in (it monitors my CPU and memory uses so is changing constantly) but I tried uninstalling it and it continues to 'diss me'!
View 1 Replies View RelatedNone of my 3rd party screen savers and working after installing snow leopard. I used to use fenetres volantes but when i try and select it i get the message:
"You cannot use the Fenetres volantes screen saver on this computer. Contact the developer of this screen saver for a newer version."
Are there any good screen savers that work on snow leopard?? And why are old screen savers not working on snow leopard?
Running OS X Lion on an Intel iMac with 4GB.
When I call up system preferences and set the screen saver to "never" and remove the check next to "Use Random Screen Saver", it doesn't stay that way. I set it, then go back to the system preferences pane, and call it up again, and it's still set. However, once I exit the system preferences, then come back into the screen saver, it's been reset to where the random screen saver is checked again and the screen saver set at 20 minutes.

I'd understand that the iTunes store wouldn't have very low sales volume album art, but nothing for the Beatles? After loading over 100 CDs onto my disc, artwork was only found for about 40 of them.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSome of my cds don't have any artwork with them (choir recordings, friends' recitals, etc) so I just want to add my own pictures or artwork in itunes. The images are all under 200x200, all jpeg (though I've tried other formats as well), and when I go into the "get info" part and add it to the artwork pane, it shows up. But when I click "ok", it doesn't show up with the rest of the albums (as Cover Flow or as Grid). I've tried "clear downloaded artwork" and then adding it, but that doesn't help either.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI can't add artwork to anything in iTunes (Right click > Get Info > Artwork > Add), I can find the file and add it, the picture appears in the Get Info window but when I press ok nothing happens. I go back to it in Get Info and it's gone again. It used to work fine up until a few days ago. How to get it working again?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do you add artwork to a whole album? When I select an album in grid view and choose Get Info, the Get Info window does not show the artwork tab, like what shows when I select a single song. There is a tiny little Artwork window in the Info tab, but I want to add multiple artwork to this (dragged in from the Finder), front, back and inside album art. If I select a single song in that album and choose Get Info, then I see the artwork tab, but the artwork I drag in applies only to that song (the album art appears in the Now Playing pane only when that song is playing). How do you add artwork to a whole album?

I am having difficulty getting podcast artwork that appears in the podcast directory on the iTunes store to appear in iTunes after I've subscribed. For example, if I choose NBC's "Meet the Press (audio)", the directory shows a cover image for the podcast. However, when I subscribe, no cover art appears on my iTunes or my iPod Nano (latest generation). When I click on the podcat image and then select "Get Album Artwork" (either by ctrl+click on the mouse, or the "Advanced" menu), nothing happens. What might be causing this to happen, and what do I do? I am using iTunes 10.6.1 (7) on an iMac running Mac OS 10.6.8.

View 8 Replies View RelatedSo I've bee tinkering with my energy preferences in order to get the best battery life I can, I've turned down the brightness to 1, my keyboard back light, to 1 (when I'm watching a movie in a dark room) and I've set it as the 'better battery' option. But now i'm a bit confused. What's the point in the screensaver if you can set your display to sleep (which i'm sure would save more energy). Is it just to look pretty?
How does everyone have their notebooks set-up to get the most out of their battery? Lastly, the 'better battery' option in energy preferences, does this do anything apart from adjust the display/computer sleep? I read that it reduces processor power hence the 'better performance' option.
So there's this great hidden feature of OS X that allows you to set your screen-saver animation as your desktop background, but it is a Terminal command and it requires Terminal to be running in order to continue executing it. Here it is: Code: System/Library/Frameworks/ScreenSaver.framework/Resources/ScreenSaverEngine.app/Contents/MacOS/ScreenSaverEngine -background So the million-dollar question is → Does anybody know of a way to keep this running even after you quit Terminal? Yeah I know, it's a waste of CPU cycles and battery power... but my Mac is plenty fast and is a desktop machine so I'm not concerned about that. So how about a Terminal command to made the above Terminal command not require Terminal to be open in order to continue?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm in the process of updating our server from 10.4 to 10.6.5. And I've noticed a very disturbing problem. First, I don't need a lecture on enabling the root account. I have a strong password and appropriate security measures in place (both physical and configuration wise), and I understand the risks.
Under 10.4, I was able to set the Security Preferences of the root account to "Require Password Immediately After Screen Saver Begins". Worked just fine and dandy. Under 10.6.5, when logged in as root, this option seems to be ignored. I have run a repair permissions, verify disk and both report no problems. It also seems to ignore the "Log out after XX minutes of inactivity" as well.
Is there a way to make it so that instead of my screen saver turning on, I can have the display turn off? I know I can set it to automatically do this after a few minutes, but I use a hot corner to turn my screensaver on, and would like to turn my display off when needed instead. I see no reason to keep the display powered just to show a pointless picture. I know I can hold down the decrease brightness button until it goes all the way down, but is there another way? I have a Unibody MB.
View 7 Replies View RelatedJust got an iMac yesterday. Today when I turned on the iTunes screen saver, the screen turned black, and wouldn't respond. I held the power button for several seconds until it turned off, and then turned it back on. Everything was ok until I went to configure the screen savers. As soon as I picked the first one, the preview screen turned gray, and the wheel started spinning. I used force quit on it, and tried loading a different screen saver, and same thing happened.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhat are you using?
I'm currently using spotlight.
My screen savers (any of them) only run for a couple of seconds before returning me to the desktop or any applications running before I turn it on.
I've set the top right corner of my screen (expose') to be the Hot Corner for turning on the screen saver.
That works normally, but it just keeps on turning off shortly after =[
Testing the screen savers in System Preferences make it work but I really don't want to go all the way in there every time to turn it on...
I don't know what's wrong.
##UPDATE## I've found the answer to my problem. It lies in an app called Caffeine. I can either click it so it shows an empty cup or update the app to a more friendly version to my OSX and quit it.
I hope this can help anyone in trouble because this is a really understated issue (at least with Snow Leopard! since it has compatibility problems with the old Caffeine app).
On my Screen Saver, Images come up which I know I have deleted from my iPhoto Library. How do I find them to remove?
