IMac (Intel) :: Still Running Slow And Crashing After Malware Removal?
Sep 2, 2014
Last week I got a malware attack from opening up a Facebook message. This caused my iMac to run very slow and to crash all the time. I ran the latest security update which found and removed the malware itself. But still my iMac is running very slow and crashing when doing two jobs at once.
Any reason as to why?Is it still infected? or has the malware corrupted my hd or memory?
I have an IMac with Mac os X 10.7.3, 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 with 8GB of memory, this should be plenty to run Photoshop with no problems , however Photoshop keep crashing and being really slow.
I have had my 27" Imac for about 2 years now and I am starting to have problems with it running slow. Iphoto and itunes and sometimes safari stop responding and then crash, I then get a problem report which has pages of information, what can I do? do I need to reload the OS?
even when i dont have any programs actually running i get the stupid coloured spinning circle and i can hear the computer thinking like ive got 20 programs running at the same time , kind of like the windows CPU usage stuck on 100% problem.
I thought this trojan horse affected those who had Java (JRE) up and running i.e.,Safari security Java checkbox enabled. I also believed this Trojan horse also affected those using Snow Leopard. Clarify please.
So I've installed Flashback malware removal tool? Cant find it Utilities, Applications, System Prefs? Where does it install so I can run the Software??
i am a graphic designer and am very familiar with most applictions but not the technical side of things. Basically i have a white macbook which is about 3.5 years old, it has been running very slow for some time now and fails to complete very simple tasks, for instance when opening adobe photoshop or illustrator, both CS2, simply creating a new document can take minutes as with resizing images etc. illustrator and photoshop will not run together, one will 'unexpectidly quit' word takes atleast half hour to save an essay applications bounce forever before opening beach balls at the smallest task apps crash
about this mac: processor: 2GHz intel core 2 duo. memory 1GB 667 MHz DDR SDRAM.
jst got the flashback malware update, whch states tht its ment for mac witout java installed, aftr checking the java pref in utilities under applications it stated that there was no java installed in my mac,bt after updatng there was no report whether malware was removed
I don't believe that I have a virus but want to make sure of this on my desktop and laptop. How do I know if I'm running Java. I was going to download Malware removal tool but didn't want to do it if unnecessary.
I downloaded this from the site and installed it. I cant find it as an app to run it.
Is it an app I need to run, or is it installed and runs in the background? If thats the case how do i find it in the activity monitor to make sure its running?
my 4 year old IMac 2.4ghz intel core 2 duo with 2gb running 10.7.3 has been running really slow since I installed photoshop CS4 and upgraded to lion ( I have 137gb of free space on hard drive) I mean it wont quit out of photoshop I always have to do a force quit and most applications run really slow. Do I need a new computer , what should I go for to have a smooth running mac?Was thinking of a new IMac 27-inch: 2.7GHz with 4gb memory.
I'm on a Mac OS X, version 10.6.3. Processor 2.66 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. Memory: 2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. I'm a graphic designer so I always have Photoshop CS4 & InDesign CS4 running simultaneously 8 hours a day. (Firefox 3.6.3 is also running). Never had a problem until recently - the screen would suddenly turn WHITE, or BLUE w/ VERTICAL STRIPES. Then I have to reboot.
I had 3 crashes today. I did notice when I was scrolling w/ my (sorta old & ghetto Kensington mouse) that it froze the iMac twice. IS THERE A PATCH, OR SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THIS? Anyone else having similar crashes?
Over the past month Lion has been crashing, running slow and freezing constantly.\ I am not used to having so many PC type issues on my Mac. I have done Disk repair in utilities and removed unecessary programs at start up.
iMac 20 inch early 2008. OS X 10.9.4, 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4BG 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.Several of my DVDs have stopped playing on my iMac. Running a scan with ClamXav identified and quarantined trojans one of which was (FLV_Media_Player.exe).The DVDs in question will still show the identifying titles but will not play the programs, instead stating that the content is now in unrecognised format.MY internal and external DVD players will still run other of my DVDs.Is the trojan likely to be the cause? Can the damaged DVDs infect other playing systems? Can the damaged DVDs be recovered?
Visited a site that redirected to [URL] ...., this redirected has a pop-up that states "Microsoft detected Security Error, Due to Suspicious Activity.I am currently using Google Chrome.
I have an aluminium iMac, 2.4GHz Intel C2D, 2GB RAM, running Leopard. On one account, it runs slowly, with a noticeable delay in doing anything, even menus take a second do to anything once they've been clicked. It has all the updates installed and I've tried repairing the permissions and rebooting already.
Since I've only noticed it on one account, I'm inclined to think it's a corrupted user file or something.
I installed Boot Camp on my machine and removed it thereafter. However it has slowed down my startup for mac now to almost 4 MINS!!! from 30seconds before. I have googled all the forums and tried the following without success :
- reinstalling the software
- deleting the PRAM
- selecting the Mac HDD as Startup disk but to no avail.
- scanned/fixed/verify all permissions
something must have corrupted the MAC OS...can anyone suggest a way out of this slow boot up? Its like having a ferrari but can only move after a rolling start.
My PPC G4 iMac is slow as hell. I plan on upgrading soon enough to a newer iMac but in the meantime I'd love to recover some speed. I know i have a woefully low amount of RAM - 768 to be exact - but apparently I'm stuck with that. It was running better in the past but with time things just slowed to a crawl with minimal things open - Mail, Safari and maybe Word and Excel. I gave up trying to run PS Elements 3 on this machine. That just makes me want to scoop my eyes out with a spoon.
I run iClean regularly, I have my desktop clear of clutter. What can I do in the interim before I buy the new iMac to help things some? Or am I just S.O.L. and just be patient and wait for the new machine?
My iMac is running slow and sometimes freezes. There shouldn't be a problem with memory (6GB); the backup HD is a 1GB WD and backup is run via Time Machine. Backup seems to run OK but there is an enormous drain on CPU usage and the process takes forever.
I have the 20inch intel imac running leopard. Out of nowhere it started going very slow, spinning wheel every other click. Then just freezes. And now I can't start the computer again. It stops at the grey screen with the apple symbol like its loading but never does. I've tried unplugging the whole thing then again got a blinking question mark folder. I just keep getting different things. A blank white screen.
my imac has been running very slow lately and i don't know why. i'm not a man of great knowledge when it comes to computers and in fact this is my first imac i've ever had. (although i loved until now.....) i need to know what i can do to make it run faster. it seems to only be a problem when i'm on the internet although i could be wrong. (i know it is not just a connection issue because my ipod touch is running off my wireless much faster than my computer.
I am an absolute Mac virgin I have never used one before this is my first experience with them. We bought a imac for our daughter purely for the virus free factor and the computer just looked so good the graphics etc.
Anyway we have had the system now for over a year we all love it and have worked out the basics. My problem is that lately it has become very sluggish and jumps out of Safari a lot, Safari closes unexpectantly. It takes ages for even Word or anything to come up. What can I do to clean it up and make it run faster again. What do I go into.... I need the hows, wheres and whats?
I have a problema with my iMac G4 with 10.4 system the videos running very slow especially in youtube and i try to installation MacOs 10.5 but my computer not support an that version?
