IMac :: Possible To Switch Windows Buttons To Left Side
Apr 19, 2009One obvious thing I've noticed on a mac is the close window [x] minimize window [_] and maximize window buttons are on the right on a windows. On a Mac they are on the opposite left side. What I am wondering is there a way to switch those buttons on the left side on a Mac to the right. Which I am accustomed to it? It there anyway or is it just something, I will have to adjust to.

MacBook :: Speaker On Right Side Louder Than On Left Side?
Jan 10, 2009It's only today that I noticed my MacBook's right speaker is considerably louder than the one on the left. I opened Sound panel in System Preferences to see if the balance was off, but it was set at dead center. Then, I dragged the balance slider all the way to the left to see if the sound coming from the left speaker was okay at all. Well, it sure isn't. Very muffled, muddy sound. No highs at all. Dragging the slider to the right side reveals a very different sound texture. Very crisp, as it should be. Really weird. Anybody else experiencing this odd speaker behaviour?
I googled for this problem and found this thread, right here on Mac Forums. It's a thread for the MacBook Pros, though. The people with a MacBook Pro think it's because there's a subwoofer on the right side. Well, the MacBook doesn't have a subwoofer, so it can't be that. Any ideas? Is it repair time?
By the way, I have a late 2008 unibody MacBook, the 2,4GHz model.
IMac :: Black Vertical Line Down Left Hand Side Of Screen?
Dec 5, 2010I've had this iMac about a year now, and i have had this problem for a while but thought i'de leave it for abit and see if it heals its self. As sometimes the line is more visible than other times and sometimes it's not even there!
I have 2 pictures which i snapped with my iPhone, so i will link you too them.
The line is not majorly visible, but it is just annoying considering i payed �1000 for this iMac.

IMac :: 21.5" Vertical Black Line/Mark Down Left Hand Side Of Screen?
Sep 11, 2010I have only recently started noticing this, it is mostly visible on the white screen at boot up but just faintly noticed it now against my background.
It is a fading black line going down the left hand side of the screen, it starts at the top kind of fades in the middle then comes out again.
I honestly have no idea what this is, i will try catch a picture on my phone soon and post it up.

UPDATE: Sometimes the line is clear, sometimes it is faint and even sometimes it isn't even there!
Mac Pro :: Contemplating Partial Return To Dark Side
Aug 14, 2010With all the recent chatter around the 5870 cards, especially the availability and compatibility issues with older than 2009 Mac Pro's, I'm wondering whether OS X is still a viable platform for a 3D graphics artist.....Having only really acquired those credentials a short while ago. The 2 things that are really important for 3d graphics are a decent GPU and as much CPU rendering power as you can get. The 08 Mac Pro had both of these things and was great value but since then things have changed. It's not just the cost of upgrading a system although that's pretty damn high at the moment. It's other stuff like the 5870 having 2 MDP's instead of 1 and an HDMI port, which is in my opinion far more useful. It's all the hassle and limited choices when it comes to upgrading the GPU when you can slot anything into a decent PC rig and just get on with it. It's being able to build a decent core i7 system that can render away and chug out frames without costing as much or more than a decent car. And it's about forced obsolescence....Systems that are only 2 or 3 years old being left out of the loop and the sense that Apple took your extra money in exchange for upgrade potential, and then welshed on the deal.
Conversely, I love the OS X environment. It's stable, keeps out of the way, it's great for video and general digital life management. I don't need to be reminded of the pro's and I am in general an advocate of Macs. If I didn't do 3D graphics, I'd buy an iMac and be very happy but that just doesn't cut it in the 3D world. So I'm coming to the conclusion that my next big system purchase in a year or so is going to be a PC again. I envisage working on that during the day and having my Macbook open beside it for email and iTunes etc (ie, all the fun nice stuff) and then when the working day is done, firing up the MP or plugging in the MBP to the big screen for "everything else" like music, video etc....

the first image i absolutely cannot see, it is 100% pitch black.. the other bellow it shows up just fine. But the two left/lowest squares on the color table on the very bottom the page both appear the same shade of pitch black.
I can see light but not dark. I tried callibrating and adjusting brightness and contrast.

So with the final release of iOS 4.2.1, I decided to uninstall and install the final version of iTunes. All went well with the uninstall/install, except that I noticed that in the left side bar, there is no selection for my Apps. Is this normal?

Jul 18, 2010My lid seems to overhang very VERY slightly over the left side of the case. I got some people in my family to look at it, and they honestly don't even notice it. The distance is the thickness of a piece of paper. So small it is barely noticeable when looked at, but you can feel a slight difference when you rub your finger over the edge. Should I be concerned about this? I would take pictures of it, but the Macro mode on my camera isn't good enough to properly show this issue. Go Figure... Will this affect hard shell cases? I've also learned something. People that are O.C.D. really have a hard time enjoying their Macs. Seems like we spend more time scrutinizing every square inch of our equipment that we actually spend enjoying it.

MacBook Pro :: Sound Coming From Left Side Of Keyboard
Oct 7, 2009i reinstalled snow leopard and i went to pick my mbp off my desk with the screen open .. and when i picked up pretty quick i heard this sound coming from the left side of the keyboard .. it was really weird .. and i can recreate it everytime if i lift it fast with the screen open .. if i do it slowly no sound i tried this on my mother's 15 mbp and no sound at all .. anyone else get this on a 17inch mbp?
