View 1 RepliesI want to change my Apple ID to the email address which happens to be my back up email address at the moment.But it won't let me change my Apple ID to that becuase of the fact that it is my back up email. However I can't find any way to change my back up email to something else. Â

Why do I keep getting a message that my email password is invalid? I retype it and ask it to save to the keychain, the message goes away and then I get it again later. This happens with my Bellsouth (now ATT) account and also with iCal.

Woke up this morning, flipped open my MBP, and I see an Error Message that says that the Certificate is Invalid for SMTP Mail server. I looked, but it says it doesn't expire until 2014. So why does this message happen and what does it mean? I quit Mail, and then Restarted anyways to see what happens and all seems to be OK. But what does it mean and where does this message generate itself?

I'm having some trouble with my Macbook. It's running on Leopard 10.5.8. I recently tried to partition my hard drive and while doing so it prompted me informing me that there was an 'invalid node structure'. I could then no longer proceed with the partition. I had planned on updating my OS to Snow Leopard. I wanted to partition my internal HD, so I backed up some files on my external HD. I basically wanted my interal HD to run smoothly with a new OS while minimizing the space used. Now I've come across this issue where there is another message being prompted that says, 'invalid sibling links on hard drive'. I found THESE steps on another forum that informed me that this might restore the hard drive back to a readable/functional state but that didn't work either: Â Â Â Â
(These were the steps I took and nothing happened except another prompt informing me of an 'invalid node structure')
Boot off the OS X CD (reboot, hold C while booting).The installer will load up, go to Utilities in the menu and run Terminal.Type df and look for the drive that has your Mac system mounted---you'll have to unmount this. On my MacBook Pro, it was /dev/disk0s2.Type umount /dev/disk0s2, replacing disk0s2 with whatever disk your OS lives on.Type fsck_hfs -r /dev/disk0s2. If you umounted the wrong thing, it will complain that you can't repair a mounted drive. Go back and umount the right thing and repeat this step.Â
I then stumbled upon a few different forums mentioning something about Disk Warrior. I was wondering if THAT would resolved this issue. Honestly, I don't really want to spend much money on buying this but I WILL buy a new hard drive if I ABSOLUTELY need to. I was just trying to see if I can troubleshoot this before I decide to throw in the towel and buy a new hard drive or attempt to try out this Disk Warrior thing. Â

I have recently moved from a PC laptop and have been sent email messages to this account on my iMac successfully for several weeks. View 2 Replies View RelatedI think at some point in the past I had Stuffit Expander installed on my Leopard box. I suspect this because when I browse to a .sit file I still get the choice to 'open with stuffit expander'. If I select this choice I get a text edit file with a bunch of gibberish in it.
I don't want to reinstall Stuffit on my SL box. I remember Stuffit being really invasive and try to take over the unzipping of .zip files from the OS X archive utility, etc.
So, I have two questions;
1. Is there any other way to unpack .sit files?
2. Is there any way to clean out the last traces of my previous stuffit installation?
I recently purchased a mint condition iBook G3 for an absolute steal, but the only problem is it has OS X 10.2.8 on it. I have Tiger but it's on a DVD and this iBook doesn't happen to have a DVD drive on it - just the CD-ROM. I can't really install much of any updated apps (Adobe Reader, Flash player, newer web browsers, etc etc) with 10.2.8 so it's crucial I get it on there. I tried using an external DVD drive I have but no go - the disc never popped up.
My only thoughts on how I could get this on there would be to install it from a .iso image somehow or to use a flashdrive. How would I go about doing this? I'm only vaguely experienced in using OS X so I don't know the programs well enough to know what to download or use - something that's just a trial would be fine if I can use something to mount a .iso image of my Tiger disc that I can put on the machine from a flash drive and install it that way. This is my only Mac so the other computers in my house which I could manipulate the Tiger disc on are Windows 7 based.
I really want to update this iBook so I can see webpages properly (Safari 1.0 is the newest I'm allowed to install and I can't update flash!). I saw someone being able to install it from an iPod but they used the firewire - I have an iPhone 3G if it's easier to somehow install it from that. If this were a PC laptop I already know of Windows based ISO mounting programs, I just need to know of something I can install on an old 10.2.8 install (Something that I cannot seem to find anywhere!!) so either that or the ability to turn a flash drive into what would allow the computer to install Tiger straight off the drive as if it were the disc.
Is there any tool similar to paint brush in Windows?, with basic image editing features.

I am using Mac OS 10.4.11 and I do not plan to upgrade my OS software at this time. I am not using any wireless devices such as iPhone, iPad, or iPod. The only "wireless device" I use is my PowerMac G4 using Airport and whatever wireless signal from a modem is handy for internet connection. I am using Apple's Mail application and wish to continue using it just as it is with my existing email addresses. I currently have a MobileMe account which I'm not worried about losing when it's phased out as long as my Mail application and email continues to function. My question is do, I have to sign up with, or make the move to, iCloud in order for my Mail application and my email to continue working in the near future? I do not mind losing MobileMe and I do not mind not having iCloud if my email will work without it. I do not wish to purchase iCloud service and I hope I do not have to pay to keep my email working. I do have iDisk at the moment but I prefer to let it go rather than to continue to pay for a remote upload/download storage service, although I wouldn't mind keeping it if I don't have to pay for it.Â
