Windows On Mac :: No Horizontal Scroll In Anything?
Sep 27, 2009
I recently bought a used SR Macbook Pro and I have no horizontal scroll in any implementation of Windows. I've tried using Bootcamp, Virtual Box, and Vmware Fusion to install XP and/or Vista Business and none of my installs have horizontal scroll. I've used all sorts of drivers from 2 onwards, updated all my Windows installs and nada.
Is this normal behavior? IMO, with all the reviews of Bootcamp/virtualization, there have been no mentions of the lack of horizontal scroll which IMO is a big detriment to the implementation of Windows. Without horizontal scroll, Apple has effectively crippled Windows to be unusable...

Safari after update to 5.1.4, has a bug in interface on Snow Leopard (10.6.8): 'add bookmark' button (combined with addres bar), and horizontal scroll bar didn't look good. I think, that shouldn't happend on flagship Apple browser, on just a little older OS X than 'Lion'.

Under Windows 7, if I go to the following URL, I see a MAJOR problem:
[URL]
There is something like 256 distinct shades in each horizontal bar. NOTHING MORE.
If I simply drag my web browser over to my second monitor, a 28" 1920x1200 monitor hooked to the mini displayport, it displays PERFECT gradients.

I thought it might have been a graphics card problem, but these lines move with the apps even in expose mode.
Its driving me nuts. I had this problem before while on 10.4 Tiger and now again on 10.5 Leopard (fresh install on new hard drive).

bought an apple mouse and it won't connect, but reading on the forums the scroll click won't work anyways. and to be honest i wasn't happy about spending $75 on a mouse.
can i buy any windows mouse to run on it? i'd assume yes but want to verify. what i need is a mouse with the center scroll click to grab objects in pro/e to rotate them, which i can't do right now and its making things more difficult than it should. suggestions on mouses, or ones that you know do or don't work. does not matter if its wireless or wired. and if i can be picky preferably black.

Friendly greetings! I'm using a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 with Mac OS X. I have IntelliPoint for Mac installed unfortunately, it doesn't handle quite like it does on Windows. While there's an Accelerated Scrolling option, checking that and moving the scroll speed all the way to the right (fastest) is relatively sluggish. When I "throw" the wheel, it doesn't zip through really long webpages as I expect it to.
I've tried some 3rd-party utilities like Smart Scroll, but they don't offer the same thing. My ideal behavior would be just like how the mouse operates in Windows XP and Vista, with precision when I scroll slowly, but able to cover great distances when I move my finger very quickly on the wheel.
Any suggestions for hacks or software I should try?

I've just finished installing Windows 7 32-bit on my Macbook which has 4 GB of RAM. But Right Click doesn't seem to work (except by using shift + F10), and double finger scroll doesn't work either. No Driver CD came with Windows 7. So, do I need to download a special driver to get these to work?

I'm using a wireless Mighty Mouse with a Mac Mini (the newest model) and am running 10.6.3.
The scroll wheel can scroll up just fine, but scrolling down, it literally only scrolls down a fraction of a pixel (if that's even possible) per finger flickr/scroll.
I opened the Mouse panel from System Preferences and adjusted the Scroll setting, but no luck.

Suddenly I can't scroll down using my aqua scroll bar. I can scroll up just fine. This is true whether I'm in Firefox, Safari, or any sort of document-making applications. System preferences is set to 'scroll horizontally and vertically.' It's not the end of the world, but it's klunky and annoying. Could someone please remind me of something very obvious that I'm obviously doing wrong?

I use MBP (2,6G, 4Gb DDR2, Leopard 10.5.5), and I want to disable horizontal scrolling because it become annoying when I'm working with spreadsheet (always move right or left by it self....really annoying ). When I used Powerbook (1,5G, 1,25Gb DDR2, Tiger 10.4.11) there is an option to disable / enable this feature..it's great. But with this MBP and Leopard 10.5.5 there is no option for horizontal scrolling.

On my screen when looking at whites or light blues, I seem to notice these faint horizontal lines only on certain places on my screen. For example, on the posting page, the light blue has very lite horizontal white marks on it, only in certain places. (I tried smacking it...(not to hard...I couldn't have damaged it right

I was excited to see if the horizontal lines would be corrected but to my dismay they are still there. Looks like it's going back to Apple.

I have a new MacBook Pro (A1286) 2.66Ghz which is just over two weeks old. Whilst watching a video on YouTube a horizontal line appeared across the screen. I tried rebooting, however, the line was still present. I have tried switching between the 9400/9600 and the line is still visible.
The line is still there when I boot the laptop into Windows, does it look like I have a faulty GPU/logicboard on my brand new MacBook?
Here's a photo of the problem.

i've got a little problem with my Mac Book Pro.
I have a white line in the display where I also have my dock. So it's not always on the same Display. You can see a few pictures attached that show you that this line is some kind of weird. Windows that are always in the front like "About my Mac" are over this line and if I open all windows of one program I get three of those lines.
The lines are here since I updated my MacBook to the newest firmware.

Ok, I know it's not the end of the world. Everything's running like a charm.
BUT.
I opened up safari this morning and went to my favourite ****website, where's there's a lot of scrolling going on, and my attention was grabbed by the horizontal scrollbar. One of my favourite scrollbars.
It looked odd and maybe a little sick... I couldn't quite see what the problem was.
But then I saw the problem.
It looks like a weak rippoff of the vertical bar! (see picture below)
Did I fail to see this when peaking into the world wide webtionary?
Did I? And for how long have I been missing this 'error'. Since the last upgrade? Or even longer?

I've had my macbook air 13" 256GB for four days now, I had it shipped to me in Canada because I wanted the ram to be changed to 8GB. When I'm scrolling around on the internet I see a horizontal line appear in the lower half of my screen, it disappears quickly so I haven't been able to get a screen shot. I have apple care, should I take my laptop in? Is this normal? I've been very careful with my laptop, I haven't dropped it or anything (I even have it in the Tech21 Impact snap case).

MacBook Air, iOS 7.1.2

I have a MBP purchased in late 2006 so it's fairly old.
Lately I've been having really random lock ups and freezing maybe once every week or so. Sometimes when I hard reset it, there's a few horizontal lines across the screen, usually just on the background. It'll go away if I restart it again.
I used the onboard disk checker and no problems are detected. Is this a sign that the hardware will fail soon?

I received my new 15" PB a few days ago and I can notice faint horizontal lines on every other row of pixels. I didn't notice this on the model before this or even the new iBooks, but working with photos, graphics, and video is aggravating with these lines.I called Apple Support and they seem to think this is a limited issue. I'm sending it in to get repaired or to get a new screen put on it...stinks when it's 4 days old and I'm already getting it "repaired"

I have had my iMac for two years now and when I first got it not a week later the video went out, well at that time it was still under warranty so I figured, what the heck I'll go get it fixed. Waited a month got it fixed got it back, works perfectly. It's now 2 years later and everytime I try to run anything intense, i.e. World of Warcraft, or any game for that matter (also happens when the majority of the screen is dark) these horizontal lines appear, the darker the screen is the more intense the lines but once I open a lighter/white document the lines disappear.
If I use the screen saver (flurry) is starts to do it also and you can clearly see RGB pixels all across the screen. I have been searching the internet for a good six months hoping someone will have the same problem, but that does not seem to be the case. If anyone has any idea what is going on, I have tried to reset the SMU and the PRAM but to no avail, I have also heard the swollen capacitors issue and have checked the board for swollen caps but all are flat. As far as specs go it is an iMac G5 2Ghz (Summer 2005).
