Software :: Click/keystroke Method Of Capturing Screenshot For Hosting Online?
Apr 8, 2008
I wanted to find out what some of you would consider to be the easiest and fastest method (closest to one click/keystroke) of capturing a screenshot and then immediately uploading it to some free online image hosting service (such as imageshack.us) - and potentially capturing the hosted image URL in the process?
Does such a method to exist? If not, does anyone one to suggest an alternative method - that they would consider nearly as good as the one I've just mentioned?
I've been using the imageshack.us widget for Mac OS X, but I still think the process of: capturing a screenshot manually, finding it on my desktop and clicking and dragging it to the dashboard widget for uploading, then removing the -n prefix from the captured URL on my clipboard (that I believe imageshack places in front of files uploaded to free accounts)... well, I think you get the point - it's just far too tedious and I have to believe that there is a quicker more efficient way of doing this?

When I'm online, my tool bar won't drop down when I move my mouse to the top of the screen. I have to keep pushing the ESC key until the screen finally minimizes. Also, I no longer have the little x in the left corner of my tabs, I have to right click the tabs in order to exit out of them.

My G3 laptop has been in storage for over six months and won't start up. The power lead and clock battery are new. This happened before and Dianne the moderator at the time gave me a simple keystroke sequence to bring it back to life. Anyone out there know what that was?

I notice sometimes that if I don't type anything with the keyboard for a few minutes, that when I resume typing the computer does not input the first keystroke. Does anyone else have this issue? IIRC, the SR MBP I had before this that I got replaced did this as well.

Is there a way to automate my login with a keystroke only?
I've tried to figure out Automator but it looks like a keystroke is not the way Automator works.

I am currently working through the Missing Manual for Lion. I much prefer keystrokes to the mouse if I can find and remember them all. I would love to see a glossary of the symbols displayed in documentation and which key is represented by that symbol. My current dilemma is some functions that require the key represented by ^. Haven't got a clue which key this is.

I am posting this in the Mac Pro forum because I am not seeing this issue on my my Macbook Pro, and therefore think it may be machine-specific. Since upgrading my Mac OS to Lion, the first keystroke is often rejected by the password field on the login screen. The field accepts the keystroke initially, but then "refreshes" and blanks out. This causes a lot of login errors, and I have to retype my password. It only happens when first logging in, never on the second entry of my password. Also, it happens equally often whether logging in on a cold boot, or when logging back in after logging out. Additionally, it doesn't happen every single time, although it happens a lot. My Lion system is an upgrade/install, and I often wonder if a clean install would fix this.

I tried to find the right host for my new business' website, and saw that iPowerWeb were Mac users. I was happy with the prices, etc, but now I can't send email because there is all kinds of spam being reported from my web server's IP address. The company is supposedly trying to 'fix' the problem, but in the meantime, 'spam cop' and AOL and Yahoo are bouncing my emails. Maybe it's a virus on the server, but I thought they used Macs? Anyway, does anyone have recommendations on dealing with this, or finding a better host, or any tales to share?

so I'm starting to put together a web site with iWeb, and I want to publish to something other than .mac (it just seems so expensive for what I want... and 1gb of storage?)
So I'm looking for opinions and experiences (good and bad) about other web hosting services. Where should I go? Where shouldn't I go? What are the key features that I should be looking for?

A few weeks ago my 16-month old daughter was banging on the keyboard of my iMac. Somehow, she managed to get a full-screen (no tool bar, no menu, no scroll bar, just a big full screen image) of the webpage I was looking at on Safari. Does anyone know the keystroke she must have hit to make this happen?

I've developed on windows going on 15 years or so. About 8 months ago, I purchased a 24" iMac and found that I really like OS X. So I got the iPad next, last week I went and got the top of the line iMac 27" with the i7 quad... and this past friday, I purchased the Mac Mini Server I bumped the mem up to 8gigs... So let me get to my questions...
I have been running CentOS with Directadmin CP for several years for hosting. I want to start virtual hosting with OS X Server...
When I install the DA control panel on centos, there is the 2 main DNS servers I have to setup which points to the local machines 2 ip addresses dedicated for dns...
I can't find how to add these in OSX and do initial setup for virtual hosting.
Also, In my linux server, every user has a unique system account, user, group per account. Is that how I should setup users/groups for virtual hosting on OSX?
Last of all, are there any documentation for step by step setup of OSX for a virtual hosting platform?
I'm not getting no where on what I have found in google.

I have registered a domain (Let us say MyDomain.Com) with some web hosting registrar. I feel, my domain registrar is asking for huge money for hosting my website and giving email IDs and content holding. Can I make my MacBook Pro as a server for my webpage? Can I configure a mailserver so that Apple Mail App is my default mail client and I can create email IDs like [URL]

I created a website for a family friend a few years ago using iWeb.Today I have received an anxious email from them saying the site is down.It is obviously to do with the move from .me to iCloud!I don't have the old computer which the site was made on. And don't have any files of the site on my computer. Where and how can I access the website files since the move from .me to iCloud as a matter of urgency? I'm not seeing any option in iCloud to view or see any files at all.

With MobileMe going away, lost will be my Gallery, iWeb Site and iDisk. These were great features, they made it very easy to use. I own my own my own domain name in which I bought through Genesis Domains. I have my own personal iWeb page published using MobileMe. Apple's instructions on transferring my page does not help me. I'm pretty oblivious when it comes to knowing what hosting and a server is. And until I one day upgrade to a machine with Lion, I'm stuck with MobileMe, or what is left of it. I have links to my MobileMe galleries through my iWeb pages. I know the galleries are going away too. Is there a way people can still look at my photo albums when they are at my website?

I installed Perian the other day and decided I wanted to get rid of it. I just dragged the icon from applications as well as the dmg to the bin. Is that the correct method to 'uninstall' something?
After doing that I can still see Perian from the other section in settings as well as if I right click on a video it gives me settings for perian. How do I properly uninstall something and get rid of it from everywhere?

What is the best way to back up ALL info on my MacBook Pro in case it is lost or damaged? It appears that iCloud does not back up documents and photos? It seems iCloud's main purpose is to share info between Apple devices, not intended for backing up the computer. Should I just get an external hard drive?
