View 1 RepliesWhen I try to open Photo Booth, I get the following message:
"Photo Booth cannot open because the camera is in use by another application."
There are no other applications running. I've restarted the computer, repaired permissions, reset the PRAM, and re-installed Photo Booth from the original disk. I also tried running Photo Booth from the Guest account. None of these actions have worked. I have an Intel iMac (20"), running OS 10.4.11 (Tiger).

I am a fairly new Mac user after using Windows PCs for many decades so please bear with me on this. I purchased a new unibody MacBook Pro a few months ago and everything works as advertised except for one thing. If I am looking at myself in photo booth the video is fine. However, if I open any other application---browser, iwork, iphoto, anything my picture on photo booth freezes. The picture unfreezes and returns to normal video as soon as I close the other application. I bought a MacBook Pro for my 14 year old last Summer and it has the same problem which leads me to believe there must be some tweak or some fairly obvious fix that I am overlooking. Because of this issue neither laptop can be used for video chat--just won't work.
I would appreciate any suggestions that anyone might be able to offer. Both MacBook Pros are fully updated and both are 15" screens. If I change user accounts the same problem occurs. I spoke with AppleCare and after trying a few things they said I would have to take the machine to an Apple Store but I am hoping to avoid this if possible. Spoke on the phone with one of the "geniuses" at the local Apple Store and he said he had never heard of this issue which seems strange since it occurs on both of our Macs---unlikely coincidence.
My Photo Booth application was acting very weird so I called Apple support and they told me Photo Booth was "broken" and the only way to fix it is to Archive and Install Leopard. I really don't want to go through all this trouble. So I was wondering if it would be possible to just wait for Snow Leopard to come out and then install Snow Leopard? Will Snow Leopard reinstall all my applications or will it just upgrade the OS, leaving the applications alone?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a Macbook off line recently but I cant find my photo book app. I looked everywhere, spotlight, applications, etc., and still cant find it. I have tiger os but no disk. What should I do? Is there something I can purchase? Don't I need photo booth in order to operate my built in camera?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get a Macbook's iSight working. The Macbook is running Leopard, currently. When I go to open Photo Booth, I get the camera icon with a slash through it - indicating the camera isn't connected/available. The same problem happens with other applications. I don't believe it is listed in System Profiler, though if it was listed as something other than "iSight" I could have missed it.
I tried a few applications that are supposed to kick start it, reset the P Ram, reset the SMC, etc to no avail.
I've been having a strange issue with my iSight recently. It will work sometimes, and then one day for no reason, it won't. When I open up photo booth it's just black, and the green light won't come on. When I try and video chat, it says the camera is in use, which it obviously isn't. It will let me chat, though, the other person just can't see me. If I restart my computer, the camera will start working again, but the same issue will come back within a few days. About a month ago I called Applecare about this and a palmrest crack, and sent it in. Since I had to turn it off to send it in, though, they didn't see any problem when they received it and thus didn't do anything about it. Once the issue came back again, I took it to an Apple store (about an hour away) so I could show someone in person. The genius sent it in for me and they replaced several parts, but it's happening again! This is very frustrating, and I really don't want to have to make the drive again. My school store sells Macs and I might be able to take it there for them to have a look. I've had a few other issues with this machine, too, do you think they might just consider a replacement at this point? I've had a couple other small issues with the machine in the past (DOA battery, palmrest cracks, stuck pixels).
It's a late '07 Blackbook with plenty of Applecare left. Also, the issue started after (but not right after) I installed Snow Leopard, if that might have anything to do with anything.
I've been using my macbook for a few months right now, and primarily use it for recording me and my band-mates on Logic express, but now, I've not been able to use my iSight on my mac. I don't know what's wrong with it, because I've always been able to take photos with friends in Photo Booth and take movies with it as well. Up till now that is. A few days ago I tried to open up Photo Booth and snap a picture, but all I got was a blank screen. The program would count down, but the screen would just be white instead of showing what it would take. The little green light next to it would go on as well, but it wouldn't take a picture, and nothing is blocking the screen either.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMine never has, and the lady from Apple support is saying it isn't supposed to! I know it is... please verify for me that your 'video recording' inside of Photobooth records audio along with video!
View 15 Replies View RelatedMy 2 week old, new mac pro has brought me much joy, I love it. However my son and my daughter, would very much like to play with the photo booth. Apples fire wire isight, is no longer produced and sells for big bucks in the used hardware arena.
Are their any of you out their that have any 3rd party webcams, that work well with photo booth? I know that their are plenty of plug and play usb webcams, that will work with the likes of ichat. But from what I have read is that photo booth is some what picky with usb web cams. Slow and unresponsive.
So, my photo booth booth effects are not working. They were working perfectly fine before, but now comic book, color pencil and pop art aren't the same. Any figure that its photographing looks black and comes out black. Theres no shading.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI seem to having a problem with Photo Booth thats kinda weird. I take pictures with Photo Booth, but once they are taken they dont show up in the little row on the bottom. They are in the folder in Finder, but they don't show up so I can view them in-program. Just an odd thing I thought I would see if anyone has a fix for.Nothing major, just a minor annoyance.

I have an iMac OS X 10.4.11. and my version of Photo Booth does not have a Camera Tab for me to connect an additional camera, it only allows me to use it's own built in camera. Is there any way to get an update to my Photo Booth so I can get this tab? I have checked Apple updates but I can't seem to find anything for Photo Booth.

I just installed Snow Leopard last week. I was trying to take photos in Photo Booth but got this message: You can't use this version of the application Photo Booth with this version of Mac OS X. I have version 2.0.2 of Photo Booth. I'm very untech and I have searched some forums. Do I need to upgrade to iLife 09 in order to use Photo Booth?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMe and some friends were messing around on Photo Booth and we took a lengthy video (about 10 minutes) to put up on Youtube. We weren't done with the video and everything was still recording when I left for a minute. When I returned, Photo Booth was closed. My friend has never used a Mac before and he's not sure what he did. He says he was trying to quit out of another program and he might've accidentally quit Photo Booth. Either that, or he pressed the X, thinking it was the minimize button on Windows.Anyways, where is the part of the video that we actually recorded? Did the entire thing not get saved at all just because we might've quit out of the program near the end of our video?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to leopard on my MacBook Pro (2.4ghz Duo & 2GB ram) and have been messing around in Photo Booth, I noticed when I record a video with a video backdrop the process turns out sluggish and jerky. It only seems to be the backdrop that is quite laggy so I was wondering if this is just a case of there not being enough ram to handle it or is something else up.

View 1 Replies View RelatedPhoto Booth works fine with the first couple pages of effects but once I choose another page of effects (towards the end usually) Photo Booth freezes. I already repaired permissions and I have restarted my computer more than once (for other reasons) since this has started happening. I forget if this started happening before I installed Snow Leopard or after.
