I am running an ibook G4 and os X 10.4 and now all of a sudden, NONE of my browsers will open!!! I click on them and they 'bounce' then, NOTHING - not even a browser page will open. Yet. my ENTOURAGE email program connects with no problem.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo macrumors peeps, as the title reads, whenever i open a web browser and go to either espn or youtube or anything that flash associates itself with, the windows hangs or freezes and the beachball cursor comes up forcing me to force quit. I am currently using a Macbook 10.5.8 and Firefox 3.6.3 and Safari 4.0.5. Also i have restarted my macbook, updated it completely, tried reinstalling Adobe Flash Plug-in, done the disk utility repair disk (even though idk if i did it right) and i have been surfing the web for two days to find a solution.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have tried 3 of them. Firefox, Flock and Safari. All seem to crash after 3 minutes or so but can last up to 10. It started happening when i was watching some videos on Youtube and then when i went to go and watch another it wouldnt load it up. And since then i have came across this problem. I tried phoning Apple but at �35 just to fix this seems a bit steep. does anyone have any ideas?

I am running OSX 10.5.8 on an iMAC G4 with 768MB RAM. I ran Onyx and repaired the permissions but to no avail. Other websites have failed but the nytimes site causes instantaneous failure.

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust recently i have found that both Firefox and Safari have been "not responding" when i have tried to view some pages... namely some pages on the bbc news site and the guardian site and also [URL] It appears they are pages with some form of embedded video on them. its rather infuriating. the pages begin to open then all i get is the spinning rainbow and all other firefox or safari pages hang too.

View 20 Replies View RelatedI'm very new to the MAC scene. I have only had my iMAC for a bit over a month. I'm fairly comfortable with using it as it's much like a PC in many ways. I do have one issue though, I do not know if you can open several Browsers at the same time like you can do in the Windows environment. I know I can use the alternate search panel at the top right but I have to use the back arrow to return to the previous panel. Must be a way, I'm just not finding it and maybe a bit dull at this point..
View 4 Replies View RelatedI searched for this, but I have not been able to find any solution to the issue of Flash freezing browsers on Leopard. A number of people seem to be having this issue with Flash 10.
I have a MacBook with 10.5.6 and all updates, and the latest flash from Adobe.
Using Safari or Firefox, I am unable to display sites with flash. For example, when going to [URL] the page begins to load, and hangs at the end, with a spinning cursor. Only option is to force quit.
Deleting flash allows the page to display, but obviously w/o flash.
Reinstalling flash (version 9 or 10), brings back the freeze.
Other machines I have (MBP) with the same software, work fine.
Creating a new user has the same issue.
Restart, and Repairing permissions has no effect...
Everything was working fine last night, and nothing significant has changed since then.
Neither Safari (v4) nor Firefox can connect to the internet. However, my internet connection is fine, and iTunes is currently downloading a video podcast no problem, in fact I can see under Activity Monitor that it's downloading at 110KB/sec, which is blazing fast for where I live (Indonesia). I can also get email no problem. And the other weird thing, is that I can use Safari for Windows no problem on my Windows side (through Parallels), which I'm using right now.
I did recently update to Safari 4, but up to now I've had no problems. And the fact that I can't use Firefox either leads me to believe it's not just a Safari problem. The only thing I can think is my ISP has recently been updating their system, and I have had some issues recently connecting, but right now my internet connection is otherwise great. Does this have something to do with DNS servers or something? Why can I use Windows browsers on my Mac no problem (through Parallels on Windows XP) but not Apple browsers? I'm on OS 10.5.7 FYI.
For the past week or two my internet browsers (safari and firefox) have been acting very strange. They are both constantly freezing (spinning wheel), which I can live with, but the worst part is that they both seem to be losing their internet connection all the time. I don't use safari a lot, but I use firefox every day. If I completely close the program (so, Quit Firefox) and then open it again it works fine for a couple of pages but then it starts just loading forever without something actually happening. If I close it, again it's fine for a couple of pages. This all started happening after I downloaded Hotspot Shield and Freedur, both of which I uninstalled within an hour of installing. I can't find any residuals of these program. In Firefox my search history has also been almost completely deleted and for some reason the suggestions in Google and Youtube have been turned off. I don't have any extra add-ons or plug-ins.

Like, when I go on Youtube, it would freeze on the huge banner ad, yet when I'm linked to a video and go to it, it doesn't freeze and the video plays back fine. Email doesn't work either, both GMail and Yahoo Mail. And it doesn't work on my mail application Mailplane. And sites like [URL] both freeze up.

I've tried on safari, firefox and I'm currently on Chrome. I have no idea what to do. Everything else works fine it's just when I go on a site containing flash it crashes. I wanted to watch a stream from ustream and every time I went on the site it crashed. I've never been on that site, but I'm guessing they use flash. So, I downloaded the latest flash and now it's even worst. What do I do? The program actually freezes, but I can't do anything so I have to force quit it. Except Chrome I only need to exit the tab, I think.

I'm using 10.6.4, all updates, no other issues I am aware of (apart from the strange "system doesn't sleep" issue, but that's for another thread someday). how to view those images, and why that doesn't work now!
All of my browsers keep freezing up after 5 minutes or so of use. The time amount is very random really. This is true for firefox, chrome, camino, and I think safari. After I quit I usually have to force quit and trying to reopen brings the "already open" error.I know to delete .parentlock to restart but they just freeze again. Not sure if it's my recent OS update or something else. All broswers are up to date.

I recently encountered a really strange problem on my PowerBook G4.
After downloading the new firefox update, all my web browsers (Safari & Firefox), display nearly all my sites in cyrillic (strangely and luckily enough, this isnt one of them)
Of course i checked my system settings and all is set in german (I'm german, so thats ok )
Anyone come across that problem? I dont want to format if theres another solution, obviiously....

PPS: Upon further research: problem only seems to happen with german language sites...
Good day everyone. A few months ago I asked for help regarding my browsers constant crashing. The problems still exist. I am taking some online courses since I lost my job a few months ago, but it has become impossible to complete these courses because my browsers keep crashing. I tried Safari, Opera, Firefox, and even Netscape, but they all keep crashing. I took advice from one of the people who responded. That person suggested that I created a New Account with Safari alone as my browser, but Safari also crashed with that new account. What else can I do? I paid for these online courses but I cannot keep my browsers open long enough to even finish the first session.

I just installed safari 4 and it completely does not work. It will load a site and I cant do anything on it. Nothing clicks, I cant scroll, nothing. Its not frozen, I can move it around my desktop and go under the preferences, but I literally cant use it.
So here is the deal, I am a Facebook addict. I log in more than I should. Lately I have been trying to log in, but the browser (Firefox) redirects me back to Hotmail. This also happened with me and Adium, and I used Safari to browse the Adium site. The Xtras link redirected me back to Windows Live login screen. I have ran scans with Onyx, and iAntivirus, and they have found nothing wrong. Could it be bugs from the browser's end? Or did my machine (late 2007 blackbook) be infected with something. (No I did not use the word Virus) This is really starting to get aggravating. I asked someone from Adium, and he said I may have downloaded malware, or a virus, which I highly find doubtful.

When I open up a HTML file that's located on my computer to view how it looks using firefox and safari it just shows the code. I have opened up the same files on my windows computer using Firefox and IE and they display correctly.I'm new to the Mac OS so I'm not sure if its a setting that I need to change or if I'm going about it incorrectly but any help would be much appreciated. I've also duel booted windows and I get the same results.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI know on my late-08 macbook pro (10.5.6), i can double click on a browser page to minimize. i was pretty sure i could do this on my late 07 macbook, but now following a hard drive replacement and Snow Leopard install, I can't minimize firefox or safari via double clicking on the top of the browser. like i said i was pretty sure i could do this before.. but the macbook pro has been mine for a while, so i don't know 100% if im dreaming that or not. i checked the preferences for both and i didn't see a setting to be clicked....so either it stopped working with snow leopard, or it never worked on the late-07 models.
View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery time I navigate to a page that has Flash elements into it (e.g. YouTube), Safari hangs and my computer beach balls. I can't view any pages with Flash elements in them (or at least pages that have multiple Flash elements) without Safari freezing and causing me to kill Safari through Force Quit.
To try to fix this problem, I reset Safari (resetting every available option), repaired permissions, restarted, and nothing worked. Then I used the Flash uninstaller from Adobe's website to uninstall Flash, then reinstall a fresh copy which did not work.
I reinstalled Snow Leopard, updated all of my system's software, and then tried to view [URL] and the same problem still occurred.
Now I originally thought that the Safari 4.0.4 update caused the problem. However - after I reinstalled Snow Leopard and updated to 10.6.2, I downloaded to Camino to see if YouTube would work, but to my surprise it didn't. The same exact problem I'm having with Safari (entire browser freezing when viewing a page with Flash such as YouTube) is also happening with a 3rd-party browser (Camino).
This leads me to believe that 10.6.2 may be the source of the problem (as I never had this problem with 10.6.1), not the 4.0.4. I cannot go on websites with Flash elements in them, even with a 3rd-party browser.
I do not know why but over time the browsers (firefox and safari) get to be with a lot of lag, which makes it quite boring on the scroll and to see the many processes iStat times are up 70% of which are usually even with 20% seeing flash sites.
