Sep 1, 2009I'm trying to print an Excel 2004 .xls spreadsheet file where I'm using to record attendance for the class I teach. I have my main Column A with Rows A-X and it shows up fine, I imagine because there is content in the boxes.
But I also have Columns B-L and rows A-X with nothing in their cells, but when I print it, they won't print. I need these blank because I'll check them off if the child in the first column attended the lesson. How do I make it so my many blank cells will print as well?

May 14, 2008I'm getting a weird error when I try to open Microsoft Excel 2004. "You can't open the application "Microsoft Excel" because the Classic environment is no longer supported."
1. Excel used to work just fine (I'm not sure if I've used it since I upgraded to Leopard)
2. I've seen other people say on forums that the MS Office 2004 suite works fine with Leopard
3. As far as I know the Classic environment was phased out in Leopard, though I don't think I've ever used the classic environment
4. All my other MS Office Apps work
I'm not having much luck with google, hopefully it's a dumb configuration thing that I don't know about.
Software :: Excel 2004 - Disable Macro Message?
Dec 22, 2005In Excel 2004, I created a macro. I then deleted it using the Tools --> Macros... dialog box. I still get the message about enabling/disabling macros when I open the file. I have tried using the VBA Editor to delete it, but I don't see a "Module 1" (or anything else for that matter) that contains the macro.
I know I can turn off the macro warning in the preferences, but I'd rather figure out why I'm getting the message and get rid of it without turning off the macro warnings.

Oct 6, 2009I had a Dell 1100 laser printer working on my iMac (G4 ball type) using a GIMP printer. I had to reset the queue and lost the driver. I can't remember which GIMP driver I used. Also, although I have loaded the latest GIMP s/w, I can't seem to get to them in Tiger 10.4.6.

Feb 6, 2009I am searching for a plugin, software or a solution for a situation I have with an Excel/Word Mail Merge.
It's a law firm we specialize in DUI/DWI and Reckless Driving defense. We subscribe to a data collection service that pulls data from various court systems around the state. We are then given this data by jurisdiction. The Excel files we receive come with 2 workbooks in one file for Traffic and Criminal arrests data with name, address, reason for arrest, etc, etc.
What I have been doing is opening each Excel file and copying and pasting into a new worksheet only grabbing the DUI and Reckless driving arrests because tis is all I am needing from the various files. I then save the new workbook and do a mail merge with Word from this newly created workbook.
Now my question is there such a plugin or software that will combine all the Excel files I receive from the Data collection house and then be able to filter out only the DUI and Reckless Driving arrests to a single Excel Workbook?

Oct 21, 2010I have been asked to do a project at work in Excel. I am keeping track of around 7,000 properties all over the United States. My boss wants to know a lot about each one. I am really struggling with the weather part!! I need to somehow pull the temp and if its snowing or raining from the internet into excel. I have all the addresses and zip codes for each property. I was thinking i could write a formula that looks at an RSS feed or website (like yahoo or Google weather) based on the zip code of the address. I could also write the formula that pulls the weather to excel then VLOOKUP the zip. Does anyone have any ideas about this?? I am not sure what to do!!

May 22, 2010I recently purchased my first MAC with Excel for Mac 2008. I am unable to open any files created in it on my PC which has Excel 2003. Apple is of no help. They had assured me of compatibility at purchase citing the new open format. The MAC Excel 08 file won't open on the MAC on which is was created with their Numbers program either.

The system tells us "No Driver Update Needed for this System", and will not allow driver to be installed. Can anyone advise if the current driver is automatically installed or provided by Apple Updates. If not can you provide proper instructions on how to properly update the driver. Also how can we confirm what driver version is currently installed.

Nov 10, 2009When I send my .xls files from my Mac (Office 2008) to my boss's Windows machine (Office 2003), he gets an error message when he attempts to open the excel spreadsheet: Excel has encountered an error and must shut down. I've sent files to other computers and not had a problem, and my boss has received other excel files and been able to open them. So it must be something between these two machines/softwares that is affecting it. Any suggestions or ideas? I can add any additional info you need.

I have been going around in circles, in the office 2004 identities there are 4 Main identities? I have switched users and still cannot retrieve any data, also I have just found out that I should have Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Entourage Preferences & Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.DatabaseDaemon.plist they are not in Library Preferences?

May 22, 2009Initially last week computer would not load desktop. Grey screen with spinning gear only. Had HD on computer saying completely full in Disk Utility. Backed up data at Apple Specialty retailer Small Dog Electronics.
Reformatted HD and reinstalled Leopard. Desktop loaded OK. Bought external HD , transferred backed up data into ExHD and proceeded to transfer necessary files back onto iMac internal HD. Plenty of HD space remaining.
Computer worked fine for one or two days. Stopped working after son interrupted software update. Have grey screen, spining gear again.
Disk utility repair messages:
Mac HD Disc Repair failed, no valid packages (-9997)
Reserved fields in catalog record have incorrect data ( repeated many times)
Invalid Leaf record count, should be 1479 instead of 147.

Apr 19, 2010I just got my brother's 2004 G5 installed, which runs on OS 10.3. Is it technically possible to download OS 10.4 (guess still Tiger) from the Apple site? Do I need a regular installation CD-rom or is it not possible at all?
As you can hear from my question I'm a total rookie if it comes to Apple.

All was fine until yesterday. If I click on a document file or on the word icon the splash sheet is isplayed and all stops there. When I force a quit it shows "Word (not responding)" Excel and PowerPoint are fine.
Software :: Backing Up Entourage 2004?
Aug 18, 2009I have a network of about 40-50 Macs running Tiger or Leopard and they are all using Entourage 2004 configured for Exchange.
This means that their mailbox email is backed up on the Exchange Server.
However, in Entourage users can archive email out of their mailbox into an area within Entourage called 'Folders On My Computer'. Once the emails go in there its removed from their mailbox. My concern is that this area of Entourage is on the local hard drive and we don't backup local hard drives. We tell all users that their documents must be on the network fileserver to get backed up nightly.
Does anybody else here look after networked Macs running Entourage with Exchange and have a backup plan for the local Entourage database ?
