After a hd failure and complete system restore, I am unable to manage my bookmarks. I'm using iCloud and I have tried turning off bookmarks in all devices as well as other procedures outlined here including resetting safari.Â

When I hit Bookmarks>show all Bookmarks, I get a fast visual 'flash' but the Bookmarks window does not appear, and an accompanying change in the bookmark icon in the bookmarks bar. When I again return to Bookmarks, rather than 'show all Bookmarks' I find 'hide all Bookmarks,' but other than the flash and the change from 'show' to 'hide' no bookmarks list has appeared. On the second attempt, I get the spinning beach ball, then Safari hangs, and the icon in the dock no longer shows 'quit' but 'force quit.' Running 2008 MacBook and Snow Leopard.

All my bookmarks in the bookmarks bar. I want to move them all so they are just in bookmarks menu dont want anything in bookmarks bar. I have edited renamed moved the bookmarks from bookmarks bar without a problem until I quite safari. Once I reopen safari all changes I made disappear and it reverts back to original with all bookmarks on bookmarks bar. what am I doing wrong that i cannot make permanent changes to my bookmark bar on Safari 5.1.3?

After my recovery drive went missing and trying to reinstall it, had to do a format of my hard drive and reinstall everything once I got OS X reinstalled and up-to-date, I tried to import my bookmarks from a backup bookmarks file, when I quit safari and re-open safari bookmarks were missing and default ones back in place. When searching though the forums for how to fix this problem but too know unluck they did not work.

However, when I enter my search term and submit, it just returns me to Google. I then reenter the search term again, and this second time, it always works. I have tried clearing cookies and cache. Beginning last week when I attempt to print a page or article from online using Safari and Firefox the browser crashes. Likewise, when I attempt to print from a PDF file loaded in Mac Preview, the file crashes. I thought it was a printer issue until I realized that I can print Word documents without issue. I have had no problems with printing in the past, but now I do for no good reason. It is curious that printing PDFs and webpages does not work, but printing Word documents does.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMacBook hangs on certain websites (yahoo mail, cbs sports, mens fraternity) but only from one of my wireless networks. PC works flawlessly on this situation and macbook works flawlessly on my first wireless router so the problem is tied to the interaction between my Macbook and the second wireless router. I've searched the forums and tried many fixes already that have been posted here or elsewhere: Reset Safari (it then allows me to reach yahoo mail once, hangs on every try thereafter). Go to Safari preferences and uncheck the box for warning of fraudulent sites (no change) Go to advanced settings and input DNS numbers from my ISP (this solved the problem for some websites but not others) try firefox (same problem as safari) software update everything (no help) install onyx (about to do that). network is a DSL modem connected to the first wireless router (DLINK N+). Second wireless router is linksys G (the problem child) and it is hardwire connected to first wireless router.

the debugger was called entering here. I also seem to get hangs whenever i'm maxing my system, safari typing what I wrote in say google up to 5 minutes after I wrote it...
I've had Snow Leopard since launch. I want to do a fresh install, and then copy the files I want onto it from my external hard-drive. I have some questions though:
Will I have to redownload all the system updates that came out since Snow Leopard's launch? Is there a way around that?
Is there a way to save Safari's bookmarks?
If I want to keep a certain application, do I save the DMG or the installed icon onto the hard drive?
I copied the Pictures folder onto the hard-drive, which includes the 'iPhoto Library' file. Will this put my events back onto iPhoto?
How do I save address book contacts?
How do I save iTunes playlists/play counts/library etc?
Maybe there's an easier way of doing a fresh install while still being able to select these things to keep?
I've followed the usual instructions for deleting bookmarks but they keep showing up again every time I bring up Safari again. I've shut down the computer and reinstalled Safari without resolution of the problem. My OS is OS 10.6.

I already know how to move over my music files, documents, etc. However, I have a ton of bookmarks saved and I'd hate to hate to build my bookmarks from scratch after doing a clean install of OS X. How can I save my bookmarks?

All of a sudden I have noticed that when I try to set a new bookmark, it appears in the folder on the bookmark menu bar, until I shut down and then it disappears. However, when you go through the Bookmark Bar, through the open book icon, the bookmark is there.
I tried exporting the bookmark.plst and then deleting it from finder and trying to import them back. This resulted in the bookmarks appearing to be there, until I shut down safari. When I restarted, I was left with the default bookmarks. I then tried to restore Safari from a back up a month ago and one 6 months ago. This got me my old bookmarks back, but didn't solve the problem of the disappearing bookmarks.
I'm not sure how uninstalling safari and reinstalling.
Is there an icon I can add to safari like the one on the iPad which will list my bookmarks in a drop down window, Like the favorite icon in IE ?.
