I'm having a problem with Google on safari Version 5.1.5 when I open a new tab with Google as the home page I can type what I am looking for, hit enter or the search button on Google and it dose nothing. The only way I can search for something is either using the small search bar in the top right of safari, or type what I want in to Google then click on Google images then click back to the search then it will finally search for it. It has just become a bit annoying and only started doing it the other day.
I seem to be having a hell of a time with all google related things. About 50% of the time I can't get to the google search page and get the error message Safari can't open the page [URL] because Safari can't connect to the server. When I am able to get into gmail, I am constantly being disconnected from gchat, like every 5 minutes. When it disconnects, it will try to reconnect, most of the time unsuccessfully. I then get the error message, unable to reach gmail please check your internet connection. This happens no matter what browser I use. However, when I try to connect from my husband's PC (same network), everything is fine. I've tried emptying my safari cache, tried uninstalling and re-installing both safari and firefox, and I am out of ideas. Any ideas about what is going on, and how I might fix this issue. I searched through the google help, and there were similar problems posted (none recently), but no answers on how to solve the issue. This has been going on for about a week now, and it's driving me up a wall.
I currently run Safari 5.1.6 on an iMac with OS X 10.7.4 and no matter which page I designate as my Home Page, Safari ignores this and on start-up always opens the last page I was on.
I downloaded the safari 4 beta and it was messing around with msn and some other applications so I did what some other people on here did and just uninstalled it. I now have safari 3 back and whenever I open the application it just starts up as a blank page. I have my home page set to Google but for some reason it doesn't start on that page. It really is just a minor annoyance but it did not do this before. My safari is version 3.2.1 which is the latest (except for 4 obviously).
After I upgraded to Safari 5.1.7, (MAC OSX 10.7.4) I assigned it a home page to always reopen to. It will not do that even after repeating the steps to set the home page many times.
Years ago, although I don't recall what browser I was using, I could have a whole page of bookmarks as my home page. I would like to do that with Safari. I work with young children and am trying to figure out an easy way for them distinguish their bookmarks from my bookmarks as we both use Safari.Â
This has been happening for awhile now. No doubt due to some upgrade. When I search for a string I'll get the list of google hits. And the search string will still be right in the window where I typed it. But sometimes after going to a link, I'll come back to this page and the page will be the same, but the search string is from a previous search. This is an inconvenience as I frequently go back to edit the search. I can't seem to reproduce it at the moment.
I have notice reacently that when i search multiple times in google through the web based search box ( not the safari google bar) and then click on a link to a page, visit the page and the go back page ( via the back button on the two finger swipe) the search term is not the same the same as the last typed search cryteria but corresponds to the first search term used at the beging, thus the result page doesnt have the link to the page that was visited.Â
I have no problem loading the iCloud home page with Safari or Chrome. When I access it with Firefox 13 all I get is the background and the spinning loading graphic?
Safari home page is defaulted to "only-search.com" and it won't let me change it. MacBook Pro, 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5, 4GB, running OS10.7.5 and Safari version 6.1.6 (7537.78.2). I checked software update for OS and Safari (auto, though checked myself) and everything is up to date. I change the "Homepage" and when I restart Safari the "only-search.com" web page keeps coming up. On occasions a message also appears that "my web browser is about to crash and yes or no to clean it" which I have ignored. How to get a clean Safari version?Â

Previously the solution was to install Safari plugins Inquisitor or Glims but Apple have removed the interfaces from Safari 4 that these plugins used - and there is still no built in Safari Preference to set the locale of the Google search. Effectively this renders the Safari Google Search field pretty well useless - at least for UK users. If you're searching for UK-based businesses or individuals, for example, the thousands of USA results that come up first are just not relevant - (that's an example of British Understatement. by the way
For some reason every time I go on Google and do a search it redirects me. Even if it takes me where I want to go when I close the window there is usually another page or two open that I never launched. I am using Safari.
I get this ad every time I load the page. I figured it was a cookie problem so I searched my cookies for 'Google' and deleted all the results. I'm still getting it. It's not happening in Firefox, only Safari. It's been there since Friday or Saturday. Am I the only one?
I checked the Rev B at Willow Bend store in Plano, Texas and it was:Mfr: 610Model 9C89I was really surprised since I checked the MB and it had the same Mfr and model! o me the MB has a generally worse screen from a viewing angle. However the screen on Rev B was clearly not as good as the Rev A next to it. It did display the lines when going to Google web page.Oh way cant we get a Rev B but with the screen from Rev A???That would have been the ideal computer! What manufacturer and model do you have in Rev B?
I've been trying to get a page summary for my web page, so that when it comes up in a search there is a description for the link. The 'meta tag' code that I have been using is <META NAME="DESCRIPTION" CONTENT="...Description...">
And when I use that, I put it in the 'Header' of the page. So the problem then is when I publish it, and search again on google and my page comes up, there is no new description. So, if any of you have had experience with this and know how to get it so my page summary comes up when my page is searched, that would be awesome.
