It has been wiped clean, back to OS 9, Power Mac AGP Graphics, firewire slot.
I want to give it to my bro for net use, itunes, word processing and basic stuff.
what would be the best way to go about upgrading? Should i do leopard or and older os X? will I need more ram (256) and i believe it is 500 mhz, would that be good?
like I said, it's just for basic stuff but I was wondering if these machines still work good.
I think i got pretty luck here but you guys let me know. Bought a Rev A macbook air on craigslist for like 900 a few months back, machine came with apple care and a few extras.
Then the enter key was sticking up slightly more on one side so i figured i have the support might as well take it in. The key was sticking up from a pervious repair. So the took it and fixed it. when i got it back the keys didn't light up and the sound was gone. I called and when i bought it back they gave me a new Rev B macbook air with an extra power adapter. Needless to say i was very happy.
I have heard of this happening to other people is it starting to become common?
So, I'm checking the due date of my 17 inch and I see this....
Anyone else find they now have an i7 for i5 price?

I've decided to switch my current HDD with a bigger one. I currently got 160gb wich is a little bit tight. I also have a WD Passport 160gb but I use it as a TM Backup. I don't really know if I need 7400 RPM. I use frequently Adobe PS CS3 and MSN, iTunes, Firefox... I also plan on getting some games like COD4 and things like that. I get the following message when I use syncmate & Finder to transfer files from my MacBook to my Samsung Omnia. I actually have 7gb of storage left when I get this message. It has only been a problem since the SL upgrade.
The item ClearTemp-v1.2.1.CAB cant be copied because there isnt enough free space.
So thanks to the info on this forum, I think I'm going to take the plunge with a new internal HD. My question: what do you use for a static free surface when you actually open the thing up and do the upgrade? I'd hate to zap my machine in the process of improving it. I've upgraded the RAM with no problem just on a table top and I've also upgraded the hell out of an old G5, but this is the first time I'm really going inside the notebook.

Now, unfortunately, I am having problems with my iMac so I want to reinstall the OS. However, I only have the Snow Leopard disc to reinstall. Can I still upgrade to Lion for free? This upgrade is mostly spawned due to the recent purchase of a new iPod Nano... Not supported by my current OS! Man, I didn't read the requirements, shame on me. However, the dang thing will work on my kid's PC w/ XP Pro. I only got the Nano cause it's mac - he wanted the Zune that ONLY works w/ PC.
thought id say that i was given a free powermac 466/128 ram/20GB HD that seems to be working pretty well. However, revisiting the old mac design classics has led me to look into getting another model for basic internet/email/itunes in another room in my house. Someone locally is offering their G4 933/1.25 GB Ram/ 240 GB HD model (im guessing from 2002), alongside their 17" apple display for a total between ?220-250.Is this worth it? are there any problems that i should look out for.

It used to have AppleWorks on it, but since I've reinstalled 10.3, it's no longer there. (I did a clean install.) Is there an option for it? NeoOffice has a 512mb Ram requirement that isn't going to be met by this machine. Also, the internet runs rather slow on it. They have a 1.5 megabit connection. Would it be better to run it under 10.2?
using a MBP in a target disk mode i got the G4 to build, but on its own, the folder with the question mark appears blinking I want to know how do i get on lookign for the right PCi IDe card? Would any do?Is the Fw400 Card a better option? I guess putting a system disk in an external through firewire isn't gonna do it?

I've read recently that Apple are offering the upgrade to Snow Leopard free of charge for MobileMe users, however when I've followed a link to fill in a request form, this just takes me to the Find My Phone feature on iCloud.
