Running Leopard on an old mac g4 quicksilver edition and managed to trash the "mach_kernel"...is there any way to restore the missing file without a "c" or "target" reboot?

My dad's computer just had a kernel panic and I want to fix it fast. I've already run the basic Apple hardware test and it says no problems found. About last week he added 8GB (2x4GB) modules to his Mac Pro. He's running OSX 10.5.8, when he started it back up, it said OSX has recovered from an error/serious error and sent a report to Apple. The most recent thing he did was change his external backup drive (for TM) to a fresh one - a 1TB Lacie HD. Is there anything I can do to figure out what happened? Is it possible this could be just a once off thing, or maybe it was that mosaic screensaver? When the kernel panic occurred it was on that screensaver.

Last week, after completely normal use, the computer booted up to a screen with the finder icon / flashing question mark. After a few more atempts to power up i started getting just the grey apple screen with spinning wheel and loud fans. I was advised by a friend to boot from the install DVD by holding alt when powering up. When i try this, after selecting the DVD from the boot up options, I get kernel panic and the message " panic: We are hanging here...". Then nothing.

I put a second hard drive in my Power Mac G4 Quicksilver 2002, and I decided to clone the old HDD to the new. The first time I tried it, it went on, never starting, just saying "calculating estimated time." In my foolishness, I closed the window, and ignored the warning. The second time I tried it, it went on for a good while, so I left it to it. When I came back the kernel panic screen was up. I restarted the computer, and checked the second HDD. It had about half of the Applications copied into it, so it was working initially. I booted with my install DVD, and ran disk utility and both disks were fine, no repairs needed.
This was the kernel panic info:

A few days ago the lightning strikes in. My old PowerPC Mac, running on OS X Leopard won't work after it, he was turned on ...He says that I have to restart my Mac. I've tried a Safe Boot ( 3 times ) but nothing helps. Could it be that he has an internal damage???When I start him up he makes some strange noises ...Â

My computer has been freezing for a while now, but today I got an error message which said "You need to restart your computer". When I logged in I got an error message which said "Mac OSX quit unexpectadly"
I've had it since 2006 and it's worked fine up until a couple of months ago.

Recently my iMac 24" was randomly shutting off, finder unresponsive, applications could not launch, and startup would take upwards of 4 minutes. Thought it was most definitely a harddrive issue because when I would option-boot (had windows 7 on another partition) no bootable drives would appear and upon trying to boot the install CD I would get a Kernel Error. I ended up getting a brand new 1.5 TB this afternoon and installed it in the iMac a few hours ago. Now when booting the computer I get the HDD with a question mark as I should since there is not data on the drive... Problem begins when I try and boot from CD, where I'm getting a Kernel error. Spinning circle for about 3-4 minutes after selecting CD from the option-boot or when booting while holding down C. Here are the logs from my Verbose mode boot, I have nowhere for the logs to save so i had to take hi-res pics, sorry.
[URL]
System Specs are as follows. Aluminum 24" iMac running OS X and Windows 7 (both with all updates) 2 gigs of ram geforce 8800 i think.... Memory should be fine, i have two 1 gig sticks, and I've tried booting the computer with each of them installed separately. Also have tried resetting nvram, pram, etc... ALL the usual recommended steps so you can skip those suggestions.

On bootup, my computer shows this: [URL] and won't start. If I try to boot from an OSX startup CD, it flashes between that, the ordinary apple, and circle with a bar through it, but won't move beyond that. So I then power up holding Command + S and I get this: [URL]. I'm not sure what the problem is, but I want my computer back!

I am running a quad core G5 PPC. I updated to 10.5.1 last week when it was made available and had no problems until yesterday. I tried to empty the trash and immediately had a kernel panic. I restarted and that is when the problem became more apparent then a simple restart! The Kernel Panic continued to repeat itself on the startup screen. I called apple support and went thru all the steps with them including trying to boot from the OS X 10.5 disk, in safe mode, as a target, trying to reset the (I guess I forgot what we were resetting but I was told to hold down Apple-R and Option-P) as well as opening the case and holding down the small button underneath the RAM. Anyway, nothing worked. Even in target disk mode, it made my G4 Powerbook running as the main pop up with a kernel panic! I cant get to the finder to see what the kernel panic parameters are.

I'm using my G5 for both personal use and work so it's on all the time. It has worked flawless with this same hardware config for almost 2 years, but for the past week or so I've had about 4 to 5 kernel panics or complete system freeze a day. This happens when doing web browsing, Final Cut Pro editing, playing a game etc, so basically I can't pinpoint it to a specific application, or to a piece of hardware I've added. I have ran REMBER to test my ram and all seems fine.

I'm having problems with my powerbook freezing up and needing to be restarted. It's been concluded that when you apply pressure left of the trackpad it freezes with a kernel panic error.
Does anyone know if this can be fixed without a new logicboard? What causes the kernel panic error? Is it allways a hardware problem??

I was having kernel panics quite often before 10.5.2, and they don't seem to have stopped even after the upgrade. Someone mentioned that it might have been the aftermarket RAM I installed (which is fully up to apple specs btw). But I noticed something on the error report that leads me to think it might be my M-Audio firewire external sound card instead. I've highlighted the spot in red.

I have a PowerBook G4, 1.33 GHz, 512MB ram and I am having trouble installing leopard. I have backed up the hard drive and erased it for a clean install. Every time I go to install if freezes at "calculating estimated time remaining" and gives a kernel panic error. I am unable to check the panic log as the hard drive was erased. I have already repaired disk, reset pram etc.

I'm having crazy kernel panics on my 1GHz iMac G4, every 15 mins or so. There was a power outage and it wouldn't boot up (stuck on gray screen) so the MacGenius wiped my hard drive and reloaded 10.3.5 (yeah I had 10.3.9 - old stuff). Before the MacGenius got to it, the Hardware extended test showed no memory failures, but now the Hardware test shows: memory error detected, 2 MEM/1/4: DIMM0/J22.
I can't get the software update to run, but the kernel panics happened when I had the latest updates (for the 10.3), so I don't think thats the issue (but another issue).
I have had the computer open before so I'm comfortable with crackin it open, but if I were to pull one of the ram cards, which one is DIMM0 ?
Is the ram bad? Is this causing my kernel panics?

I'm in possession of a mac pro 2x 2.8ghz intel quad core running leopard. I have a main hardrive and a secondary harddrive. I was attempting to reformat the first hd and reinstall leopard. I pop in the cd as I have with many other systems, click the install startup and reboot, after about 4 minutes of waiting I see the black screen drop and it asks me to restart my comp, presumably a kernel panic error. I've done this with two different hd's to rule out it being an hd problem. I've also procured a friend's copy of leopard and the same problem occurs. The system was acquired from a local business that closed recently and sold off it's stuff which is how I came into possession of the system. It has no 3d party hardware that I can see. I find myself wondering if it is a problem with the motherboard and since the system used to be for business purposes perhaps there is some sort of block or lockout on the mobo that's preventing an installation.

For the past two weeks or so I have been getting a lot of Kernel Panics. Most of them happen when I select Restart or Shutdown. There have also been cases of Final Cut Pro crashing regularly, but I think the Kernel Panics are far more important to diagnose. I have not changes any hardware for at least a year. The machine has 4.5gb of RAM and 40% of the system drive free. I have run Disk Utility to repir the disk as well as the permissions, all coming back with no errors. The only thing that I can think of that changed is that I purchased and ran Disk Warrior 4. It seemed to help tremendously with performance, however, it is the only thing that I can think of that has changed. I am also suffering from some performance loss as well. I get at least one Kernel Panic a day. I have no idea what the KP mean, but they all look similar.
Information:
G5 Dual 2.5ghz
Mac OS X (10.4.10)
4.5gb RAM - Final Cut Studio - Adobe Production Premium

Today I was preparing to get rid of my bootcamp'd windows7, change the partition size, and install XP. Well, I decided instead that I would just get a fresh OS X install, and install XP through the new bootcamp. So, I popped in my XP disc and went through the partition manager that comes with it (I don't know how to do it through mac) deleted all my partitions and installed windows so I could operate the cd-drive, and put in my OSX install disc.
(Perhaps I should mention I formatted it all to NTFS, thinking I could just reformat the whole thing with the OS X install like you can with windows). So, now I have a full NTFS partition, XP works fine. I can put in my OS X cd, restart and attempt to boot from a cd either from holding down option, or c at boot. When I try to do this, it pops up the kernel panic power icon, and gives me the "restart your computer" message. In recap my computer kernel panics on boot from cd.
Here's the question: Is this a true kernel panic, or is it due to the fact I don't have a partition available for mac to boot from? I didn't change any hardware, it was working perfectly fine prior to the -attempted- reinstall, and my XP install is working fine (minus the drivers), and after some research kernel panics tend to happen after hardware failures, in fact I had one happen a few months ago when my video card bit the dust.

My computer broke down so I had a repaired and the original software was re-installed and it worked perfect. Whenever I restore from Time Machine, I get the kernel panic error. I have to reload the original software and it works perfect again. I tried using Migration Assistant, but it fails every time after 30 minutes of saying 1 minute left to transfer documents. I go in to Time Machine and view my external hard drive and all my stuff is still there, except I noticed my applications are crossed out. At least the non-default ones. That may just be because they're not currently loaded.Â
What can I do from here? I was using Lion before my computer went down. I'm now using the OSX install DVD. I also have the Snow Leopard, but haven't tried that, if it even makes a difference.

I have a 150gb Raptor running Windows XP on my MacPro and unfortunately it'll no longer mount on the desktop. When tested with TechTool Pro and Drive Genius, the drive is recognised but in both instances the volume didn't show. Exactly the same happened with Disk Utility and the System Profiler. I've spoken with Apple and their recomendation is to re-initialise the drive which I really don't want to do as stupidly I dont have a back-up

This is now the 4th time this has happened, but this time I have at least what I believe to be a cause. After a power outage of about 30 seconds this past thursday all of my printers attached to my imac have disappeared. Not only this, but when attempting to even press cmd p from any program that I could possibly print from slows down the system to a crawl, and eventually crashes. When going through system preferences the printers menu takes about 10 minutes even come up, and when it does, it's empty. When attempting to add a printer back the system once again slows to a halt eventually not responding. I've tried restarting multiple times, making a new user account (which worked for about 3 months the previous incident happened.) The only thing that has fully fixed this problem in the past was to re image the computer. Â
