OS X :: Way To Retrieve Info Using Mobileme After Reformat?
Jan 11, 2009
I was going to reformat my mac today (just an OCD I have). The problem is, I have a lot of emails, calendars, and contacts that I don't want to lose. I do have mobile me that is syncing with all this. Is there a way to retrieve my info using mobileme after I reformat? Note: I don't want to do archive and install. I just want to do a full clean setup.
My Macbook battery died and when Mac replaces it, the hard drive will be wiped out. Does anyone know where to go and how much it costs to save what's on my hard drive?
How do I remove iDisk from the sidebar and clear that folder on my mac? If I click on the icon after closing the account. I am asked to log back in to MobilMe. Mobil Me is over. I don't have iDisk anymore, so how do I clear it from my computer?
I have an old pre-Intel G5 Mac desktop and want to keep using Mobile me Mail and Entourage because they work so well and I have been using them for 10 years. I cannot get the mail system to work having moved everything else to iCloud. Followed the instructions but it just does not work and the mail.mac.com server will not accept my password. Any ideas?
Since 19th May 2012 I have not been able to receive e mails on my mac and can only access mobileme mails by logging onto the internet. I've tried all the obvious things to get it working but to no avail.Funny thing is that I can send e mails no problem from my mac but cannot receive - the only thing that does come thru is Applenews.
I am unable to get into my account info on the iTunes store to check my account info. I keep getting a message that it is unavailable and try later, but this has been going on for weeks.

I have a Mac g4 MDD that I am selling and I need to reformat so I can sell, any ideas on how to do this? I didnt see any other thread so I thought this thread would be good for 2 reasons
I recently purchased a 2nd hand g5 from a friend. When he bought it around it was not formated. The software update i have is 10.5.8, I have purchased a copy of snow leopard (box set with ilife and iwork on it too), Now i tried installing snow leopard and it wouldnt let me "My mac is not intel based" i tried the other installing via the other options, i need to have 10.6 or greater. my question is how do i get 10.6 on mac or how do i reformat the g5, its driving me crazy
I was let down when I found that I had to reformat my MBP 13" after 6 months of use. I also had Bootcamp installed but I found that my MBP would take a long time to boot into OSX and when I did, I had a lot of spinning beach balls. Even my Bootcamp began giving me errors. After using the utilities to find out what the health issues were, I found that my repairs to the hard drive were unsuccessful and I had to reformat.Mind you I had a time machine back up, but I was frustrated that after just six months of owning the MBP I had to reformat. It brought back memories of dealing with Windows. I mean, if I have to do this again in 6 months, I mine as well use Windows since I basically did the same thing then too. (And it was cheaper!)
How to reformat a memory stick in Mac OSX SL? Because I have a 128MB empty memory stick, yet it says there is only 5.2MB free, and when I try to copy a 17MB file to it, it says it won't fit.
I am trying to bootcamp win7 on my iMac (2010), it's saying there's an error, and that I need to reformat the HDD first, then try to bootcamp. So if I understand it correctly, I need to backup my OSx, then reformat using diskutil? Then partition, and install OSx, then when that is all set, install the windows, right?
I lost my silly Disk DVD. I have the ones for my iMac, however they don't work. I get the message (you cannot install os x on this computer).
What I want.... this computer is about 2 years old. I want to reformat it to square one. Like brand new. I already backed everything up.
When I called apple, I mentioned I just purchased Snow Leapord.. they said.. no biggy, just install that and it will replace everything back to square one. Well, that didn't work. I still have all my old programs.
I recently tried to install a back-up copy of Leopard onto a USB hard drive, as a precautionary measure if my drive ever did die. I had partitioned my drive into 3. One for the Leopard Boot (Mac OS Extended Journaled), one for Apps (Mac OS Extended Journaled) and one for files (FAT 32).
The installation pooped out on me, probably due to the amount of free space available.
Earlier this week, I decided to reformat the drive into 1 partition. Unfortunately I ran into a spot of bother....

After reformatting my macbook, it seems to be running considerably slower than the "out of box" condition. For example, before reformatting restarting the system was quick. Now, when i want to restart, i have to wait 30 seconds before it restarts.
made a big mistake by trying to delete Time Machine backups with the Trash Can. It was such a big mistake that I have to reformat the Hard Drive for Time Machine. But I'm not much of a computer formatting specialist
I plan on buying a new MBP this week and I am going to sell my old macbook to a friend of a friend. I seemed to have misplaced my Snow Leopard discs somewhere and was wondering if I could use the new disks with my new computer to reformat my drive? If not, are there any other options short of paying $30 to re-buy SL for this machine?
I want to reformat my 2.33gh MBP. The problem i have is i dont have the original install discs that came with the computer. I am currently running snow leopard, which i installed with an upgrade disk. I borrowed a snow leopard disk from a friend who got a new imac recently and when i try boot from the disk to reformat it just says i cant install the software on my computer
I bought my macbook off my friend a few months ago and then all the sudden it don't want to load. I get the apple logo then a screen that says I need to restart my mac using the power switch. I don't have any disks to reformat my mac and my friend says she don't have any either. How can I get the disks to reformat my mac?
My 2012 15" Macbook Pro (updated to Lion, and assume I have the most recent updated version) is running excruciatingly slow. Takes forever to start-up, and to wake up from sleep. It acts as if it is running a billion tasks at once. I updated to Lion with backing up (I know, I know, I screwed up). I then created another Admin profile, which runs MUCH better. I have run "verify disc" and "repair disc" numerous times and have not seen any improvement. I want to erase the drive and reload the system. In PC parlance, I want to reformat.
Someone has suggested that I reformat my system to help eliminate problems with my version update. I have an ibook G3 128+512 mg ram 900 mhz white case 12' It had a Mac osX 2.8 verion. I updated to Mac OS X 3.9. I have had problems ever since with firefox versions not working and crashing. I have not been able to use flash or adobe flash because they won;t load. Flash or adobe flash won't load on Safari, either. How do I a reformat. Will this erase my hard drive. Is this the same as a clean install.
