Why can't I see Windows machines on a wireless router with Leopard? I just want to know.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI use Skype a lot, with a Sony Ericson HBH-602 bluetooth headset on my powerbook G4 1.25GHz with built in bluetooth and airport. I also use an isight. Anyways, sometimes the Skype connection dies and the call terminates. About 60% of the time, the bluetooth icon in OSX doesn't 'free up' and it still thinks there's a connection to the bluetooth headset. The BT icon still has the dotted line through it as if there's a connection even after the call has terminated. This might be a Skype bug, but it means I can't use the bluetooth headset again and continue the call again until I restart OS X. Is there any way of doing this without restarting the computer? Sometimes i can talk for 3 hours with no problems, sometimes the call drops after 5 mins, and messes up the bluetooth connection.

This is only after I click report than I would get this message. A few seconds later I get Support Information Collected Box. It tells me, "support information has been saved to your desktop as vm-03-14-12.2011.tgz please include this file together with support request." Also, I have another VM Fusion opened that says the file specified is not a virtual disk.

I'm new to Mac and downloaded Transmission. Coming from a PC, it seems too simple to function so smoothly. But, I still have questions. On a PC, I used to use Azureus and Peerguardian. But, I'm at a loss as to what I need for a Mac.
1. Anyway, what settings should I have on Transmission?
2. Under Preferences, I checked the Blocklist box "Prevent known bad peers from connecting." Does this act like Peerguardian?
3. Should I download Peerguardian for the Mac? Is Transmission sufficient?
4. What other applications do you recommend?

I have a MacPro Early 2009, 2 ethernet ports.Ethernet 1 is connected to the LAN and Ethernet 2 is connected directly to a SSL Matrix console (an audio mixer), whom driver needs the used ethernet port to be first of the list in the Network connections list in System Preferences. So when I browse internet I can't use the Matrix's software, and vice versa.I had to create 2 different network positions to browse internet and to work with SSL Matrix, one with Eth 1 first place, another one with Eth 2 first place, and I always have to swap positions. Is there a way to force OSX to use by default the 2nd connection of the list for internet access?Â

I am running Mac OS Lion (10.7.3) on a 8-core Mac Pro. As I turned on my mac this morning, I found out that I was unable to use my wireless mouse, and also that I couldn't open my bluetooth settings. Apparently, the entire module disappeared from the System Preferences, and when I went to one of the articles on here, I saw that I'm supposed to reset my PRAM and SMC in order to make my bluetooth work again. The problem is, that I don't know what PRAM or SMC are, nor do I know how to reset them.

I need to reset the permissions on my 10.7.3 lion software. Apple support has escalated this to software engineering levels and have not been able to give me a resolution. For some unknown reason all of a sudden my permissions would not allow me to properly move files to the hard drive. Also it would not allow me to take and move files around with the hard drive, it would just perform copies and not moving files to these locations - these were unexpected actions that were happening within the system.
I have worked with Apple support and have reset the ACL's using a root user this has still not resolved the problem. apple keeps escalating this issue up to higher levels of software engineering department however it takes 2 to 3 days every time to reply to me and this is unnerving.

It seems my system has reset something so admin-level users have read-only permissions for a pantload of files and folders. In every "get info" box the generic "admin" user has read-only priveleges. I can't stop and change permissions every time I want to work with a file.

I'm thinking of selling my 2010 MacBook Pro, which I bought with OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. When selling previous Macs, I've deleted everything, including other user accounts and then re-installed the OS from the supplied CDs or DVD. This then leaves a new and pristine condition for the new owner to set-up as required. However, I'm currently using Lion, which is not available on a disk. So my question is, how do I get back to a new version of Lion ready for my Mac's new owner to set-up as their own?I've read on these forums about booting and holding down the Alt key in order to boot from the Restore partition, which hopefully has a bootable copy of Lion. Other threads suggest that I should Show Package Contents of the downloaded Lion file and burn the DMG to a DVD using Disc Utility. I guess that this will produce a software update disc and that the new owner will still need to boot initially with the Snow Leopard disc and follow the software updates until a point is reached whereby the new Lion disc will work.I want to sell this as having OS X 10.7.3 Lion - I've paid for the upgrade and wish to pass this to the new owner.

I have recently found out that my master password is not what I thought it was! I am currently running OS X 10.7 Lion and would like to reset my master password. There are two user accounts on the Mac - one being mine (administrator) and the other my sons (managed). I know both account passwords but not the master password. How can I reset it?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am on my MacBook pro from 2010, reinstalling Snow Leopard and Lion afterwards. I install the updates and some programs (Plex, uTorrent, Chrome) only to realize that when I restart, some preferences completely ignored.. All programs added to the Dock are gone again, the assigned log-in items don't start up, iCloud was logged out again, mail settings were reset.I reinstalled the whole thing, except for Lion, and it all worked fine. So anyway, I thought it was the laptop. Some sort of hardware problem or something, right? So I just got this new Mac mini, with Lion, and it does the same exact thing. It doesn't remember some changes I made. I tried to repair permissions, but it doesn't do anything.

how can I reset or format my Macbookpro?
Info:MacBookPro, Mac OS X (10.7.3), Want to reset this laptop.
I initially tried the normal System Preferences/ Users and Groups approach, unlocked the window, entered my existing password, entered my new password twice...got this...obviously I have edited the image to remove my name...
Recovery mode using Lion results in a very similar message, a box pops up, etc. No go .So I try to reset the Admin password to have a new Admin login which results in the "starting a new machine" screens, etc., so I can then change MY password, etc using this... Boot single user and enter rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone But the system reports it cannot find the file or directory. So I login as Administrator (I have this password) and using the GUI, the option to change MY password is not showing. So I login as root (I also have this password) and using the GUI, again, there is no option to change MY password. As I upgraded/App Store via the network I do not have a disk to boot from.I do have Time Machine backups, so the notion of restoring Apps and personal files and folders after a complete reinstall is not that hideous, though I have better things to do like most of you. But really, isn't there a way for me to change my password using the GUI?
