It sounds like Time Machine will write over old files to keep more recent updates. Is there a way to mark certain files on the external hard drive as ones that should NEVER be deleted by Time Machine?

Dec 3, 2009Just got a mac book pro and getting used to it. Recently got married and while we were hanging out with our friends they stuck each of their camera memory cards into our mac and transferred all the videos and pics on to the computer. Now I'm home and I want to transfer all those pics/videos on to our external hard drive. I've tried everything! I've tried exporting...I've tried dragging the pics. Nothing will work. The weird thing is, I'm able to move pics from the HD over to my computer but not vice versa.

Jun 4, 2012I've been having this problem for a while now and its only with images and videos when i try to open any picture or video this msg comes up "The file couldn’t be opened because there is no such file" and i can only open it if i copied the file from my hard drive to my computer.when i open the info for the same picture (one in on the hard drive and one my computer) the one on the hard drive has nothing under "more info" while the one on my computer has a lot of details under "more info" .

but I do not have an app that will download the video to view it at a later time.

I am connected to my home wifi network and it works great for everything else. Regular YouTube videos playback fine.

But I'm almost certain they don't download in HD.

Mar 3, 2012I want to save YouTube videos in my iTunes. I used to be able to do this selecting Command-Option-A while a YouTube video was playing. The problem now is that Safari saves the file as a webarchive file, which I am not exactly sure what that is. The webarchive file can be saved onto my MacBook but the file only opens back up in Safari.
