Oct 10, 2010Im setting out to my hometown for 5 days and all of my stuff are on my iMac. I dont know, how to copy all settings ,etc from iMac straight to the Macbook Pro. As far as I think, the only way is first to reset the Macbook Pro. Take a Time Machine backup from the iMac. And then restore the copy to the Macbook Pro. Is that the only way left for me? And how do we factory reset the macbook pro, so everything gets deleted and becomes new and ready for a new Tim Machine restore.

Jul 24, 2009I recently moved to a new place. At my old apartment I had my express plugged in, never constantly unplugged it or anything and it worked fine.
I move into my new place and now my express wont work. I did a factory reset, holding the reset while plugging it in, reconfigured it to extend my network as I use it to connect to xbox live.
Everything will work for about 2-3 minutes and have internet until the light goes solid yellow. It wont show up in the airport utility or anything. I look at it and it is shutoff while plugged in. No blinking light, no solid light just nothing.
I cant find any information on any other resets and I assumed factory was way to go after it wasnt working the first time.
I have NO idea what to do now. I assume its dead completely unless there is something im doing wrong.
I have had it for a little over a year. Not exactly sure when i bought it. I think I am within a month of the warranty expiring. This sucks. I dont have my proof of purchase or anything. But I am positive I bought it around this time.t does the normal start-up by blinking green then solid yellow while starting then it resets, "starts up" one more time then shuts off completely.

I've noticed I have way to much junk to go through and try to delete it all and when I try to delete something it does the poof thing it's supposed to, but later I notice it has not been deleted. I've tried restarting my computer, and completely turning it off for 24 hours then seeing it its gone, but it never deletes.

Jun 5, 2012I just bought a MBP 13" from my friend. It has OSX Lion pre-installed on it so theirs no boot disc. I read the instructions online about rebooting but I didn't do it correctly. What I wanna do it get it back to as if the computer was being turned on for the 1st time. I changed the user name to my name, but when I go to the Air Drop section in Finder, his name still pops in that area. I wanna make it so that everything is under my name. Basically, the login user has my name on it. Air Drop has his name and when you go to USER folder, his name is there too. Want to get it so all of it is under my name.

Feb 22, 2012So I recently purchased a MacBook Pro and used Migration Assistant to transfer my files. I realized after that I should have transfered right at the beginning when I had the chance for Setup Assistant, because I have a lot of files that require permission from my other user account on my old MacBook. I went to Disk Utilities, and there were two options to "Erase Free Space", some Toshiba thing and Macintosh HD (I am assuming was the hard drive that was transferred). I pushed "Erase Free Space" and closed down disk utility, but it looks like it didn't delete my hard drive because all the applications and files are still there. I am now reinstalling OS X Lion hoping it will bring me back to that first screen where it askes if i want to transfer from another computer. Am I doing this right? I feel like I'm gonna mess something up and i've already wasted 5 hours already trying to fix my primary mistake of using Migration.Â
