I have been a heavy windows user. Just got a MBP, running OS X Lion (10.7.3). I need to move all my email from my PC laptop running Windows Mail to Mac Mail. Can anyone suggest a best way to:Â
a. Transfer all the mails in the In Box
b. Transfer all the folders
c. Transfer the sent folderÂ

Got my new MacBook Pro - I'm used to Mac as I have had iMac & the smaller MacBook for about 6 years so fairly user savvy, but have never come across the problem I have at the moment. Set up my mail accounts - received and sent mails, but the whole time the little gearwheel is running on the sent box. Is this normal - I've never had it before unless I've actually been sending and at the moment I'm not.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI was installing the latest update to Mail Tags in Mail and it crashed in the process of the update. Now mail won't run - it just hangs. I reinstalled Mail and it's still doing the same thing so it must be the mail data file (right?). Can I rebuild the data file without running mail? What to do?

For the last week I find that after sending an email with attachments that it remains in my draft box after sending. The mail shows up in the sent box, but it never get's deleted from the draft box until I resend it. This is happening on both my MBP and iMac. Both machines connect to iCloud for mail.

Mail isn't working for me. I'm running osx 10.5.8 and mail 3.6. It won't quit. I have to force quit. Then it won't receive regular mail. It is only receiving junk mail. I have tried deleting the account and adding it again. I have also added another account to see if the problems were still there and they are.

Why Mail is running at 400% cpu usage while trying to download an email? I have an Apple email account and Exchange account set up with Mail. I never ran into any problem with Mavericks but after upgrading to Yosemite, Mail now frequently runs up to 400% any time it is open. The problem only occurs when Mail is trying to get a message from the server, although it does not hang on every email, only certain ones that I can see in the 'Activity' Window. I've already tried to delete the accounts and restart from scratch. Now my co-worker just upgraded to Yosemite is experiencing the exact same problem on his macbook. The only way to temporarily fix the problem is to delete that specific email message Mail is trying to get from the server. It will be fine until it hangs on another email later on. The program is still usable but will drain the battery in less than an hour just for having Mail open. Now I only open Mail when I want to check emails if I'm on battery only, then immediately close it.

How can I run mail.app remotely on a Mac? I have a desktop and a laptop, both on 10.4.11. The desktop has my mail files, and sometimes I'd like to read them from the laptop. The laptop can log into the desktop over my wireless home network and I can run the copy of mail.app that's on the desktop. But when I do that, it looks for mail files that are on the laptop rather than the desktop.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMail is running in the background, but it won't quit or open. I need to reboot (i.e. hold down start for 10 seconds) to restart. Other applications are also very slow to respond during this, incl. Safari. I'm on a Late 2007 Macbook running 10.6.2, which I updated yesterday.

My mail is running very slowly and it looks as if I have more messages saved and coming in that I believe I actually have. I also have a message that reads "connection logging enabled" at the top that seemed to appear about a month ago and I don't know what it means. Any reason for mail running slow, mail messages duplicating multiple times and for trash not emptying as it should?

Search in Mail is not working for me on my brand new retina iMac running 10.10.1
If I type in something in the search field it returns no results but the same query in spotlight returns results (in my mail messages)
I have repaired disk in safe mode, repaired permissions, deleted envelope index files, reindexed hard disk, rebuilt mailboxes and spotlight indexes, to no avail.
( sudo mdutil -E /, cd ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData, rm Envelope Index*, ... )
What else can be done ? My other desktop mac is a 2009 Mac Pro upgraded to Yosemite and the search in Mail is working perfectly with the same iCloud accounts.

When I'm running mail rules on my Exchange account in Outlook 2011, the app continually crashes. I've tried finding the offending mail rule, but the issue doesn't seem to associate with any single rule: it just appears to be an issue running Exchange-based rules (as opposed to local IMAP/POP rules).
When I turned off all my Excahnge-based rules, Outlook became stable. This also appears to be a carry over issue from Entourage 2008, where I began having the same problem, just before I updated.

On my iPhone and iPad mail app, which is sourcing from my Gmail, 'read' mail is changed to read mail (from unread) status on across iPad and iPhone mail application platforms. But not for IMac using Lion.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an early 2011 MacBook Pro running OS Lion (10.7.3) and in the last two weeks I face the following problem with the Mail application and my Yahoo mail account: although the account appears in the side bar of the application and it will search for new messages when I launch the Mail app, it doesn't load any messages and I also realised that all Mailboxes of the named account are blank! The messages appear normally when I reach my account through the Yahoo page! I tried to remove and re-import the account in the Mail app, but it just worked for two days and now the Mailboxes are blank again! I have no problems with the other two mail accounts I reach through the same application (both POP accounts).

I have been using Gmail for about 7 months, now. I am using it in conjunction with a MacBook Pro (15 inch, mid-2010, i5, 2.53 GHz, running OS 10.7.4 and the current version of Mail) and an iPhone 4S (iOS 5.1.1 with the pre-installed Mail app). I, rarely, use Gmail's web interface and prefer to view and manage my mail using my devices.
I, recently, discovered a Gmail behavior that I wasn't aware of. Whenever I deleted an email from my Inbox on my MacBook, it wouldn't, actually, delete from Gmail. Instead, a copy of the mail would remain in Gmail's "All Mail" folder. It seems that Gmail and I have different ideas about deleting. When I delete, it means that I would, actually, like to get rid of it, not hide it somewhere else. After sorting through the, almost, 3000 emails in the "All Mail" folder and re-deleting everything that I thought I had already deleted (a pain, to be sure), I found the solution to my problem. In Apple Mail, I checked both Trash options in my account preferences then selected Gmail's "Trash" folder and used the "Use This Mailbox For" option to map it to Mail's trash (similarly, I mapped the trash folder on my iPhone to Gmail's trash folder). Now, everything I delete is going to the same place (and actually getting deleted).

Apple Mail has a preference to 'Trust junk mail headers in messages' but I can not find a list of what those headers are.By trial and error I've learned the "X-Spam-Flag: YES" will work (exactly that, no extra info), but I'd like to know what other options there are... particularly if I can send a score/rating back and have it look at that. But I can't find a list of supported headers. The Internet is full of "common spam headers" and yet none of them actually seem to work and lots of people who can't get it working with spamassassin which is incredibly common.

since upgrading to Lion an embedded attachment in a e-mail, jpeg or pdf will cause a recieving outlook to stop displaying the e-mail content before the atachement-icon, no mail content after the icon is displayed anymore. Mail itself shows propper content of the e-mail.Â
