my son, have accidentally delete the Audio Midi Setup, under /aplications/utilities. There any possibility to restore this appllication without reinstalling the whole OS?

I can't add any devices in Audio MIDI Setup (Apps, Utilities); in the Aggregate Device Structure list in the Aggregate Device Editor, when I click the + my devices (Built-in Audio 1 and 2, and an M-Audio Duo) briefly show, then disappear; I can't select anything to aggregate.
How do I fix this?

I was messing around with the values and have no idea what the default set up was.. is there a way to reset the values back to default?
I looked everywhere in audio midi setup but see nothing regarding doing a reset to the settings and such.
I'm using Leopard 10.5.8 on a Macbook Pro.Audio Midi Setup keeps crashing, I'm trying to use Motu midi fast lane, it will not recognize the unit, and anytime I try to click on anything or delete any midi devices in AMS midi, it crashes.I've tried deleting midi drivers, preferences, etc. there's no solutions out there I can find.

I was tinkering with the settings on the Audio MIDI Setup (in the Utilities folder) on my 21.5" iMac but I cannot remember what the default settings are supposed to be. If I remember correctly, I think the Format should be 44100.0Hz and 2ch-24bit for the Built-in Microphone, Built-in input, and Built-in Output.

I am unable to use any of my midi controllers with my new Macbook Pro OS X 10.7.3. Checked on M-Audio's website to see if I needed any drivers for the controllers and it says that all are class compliant.
I tried to open Audio-MIDI Setup I got this message. "Audio MIDI Setup couldn't open the MIDI Server so you can't view or edit your MIDI configurations. If you recently installed a new MIDI driver, try uninstalling it and then open Audio MIDI Setup again. If Audio MIDI Setup works correctly after that, contact the driver's manufacturer for further support." I never downloaded any MIDI drivers FYI. I will also attached a screen shot of the window that popped up that reads the above statement. What should I do next? How can I get my MIDI Setup?

I am running an optical cable to a Channel Islands outboard DAC that can handle 24/96. I downloaded some 24/96 albums from HDTracks and convertd them using XLD to 24/96 Apple Lossless in iTunes. When I go into my Audio/ MIDI program and try to change the output on the Mac (13" Macbook Pro from 2010) to 24/96, the computer won't accept it. It just bounces the setting back to 24/44. Why won't it accept a 96 kHz sampling rate?

I'm going straight from the Keystation Pro 88 into the MIDI port of my MacBook Pro. I use a Pre Sonus Firepod as my audio interface (not sure if that's even relevantWhen I begin playing too many notes (especially after pressing the sustain), the piano (Garage Band grand piano .exs) starts to cut out. It sounds like BAD static, as if the MIDI were overloading Logic. I've tried changing the buffer size in audio preferences - it gets no better, only worse when I lower the size (32 being nothing but static).

What could I have deleted? I already emptied the trash. Software like LimeWire is not running what could've happened?
My audio/midi setup says "output not supported". As a result when I plug in my Ipod, or a CD player, into the mic jack (audio input) on my Mac Mini I can't get the audio to play out of the speakers or headphone jack. I can see that the mic is definitely picking up a signal. I have a mac mini (solo intel) 10.4 OSX. Audio output from ITunes or music movies clips in IPhoto works fine. I have checked the cables and connections. I have checked the "sound" location in System Preferences to make sure the "built in output" source is selected. The input volume display shows that the audio input is being registered. I have checked "system profiler" in the Utilities folder in Applications to make sure the "built in output" AKA headphone outlet is recognized.
I have the "Soundflower" App. installed but turned off.
Does anyone have an idea as to why the audio output from the internal sources like ITunes and IPhoto music clips work but the audio output from an external input source like my Ipod or CD player does not? WHY DOES THE AUDIO/MIDI SETUP SAY "OUTPUT NOT SUPPORTED"?
How can I restore applications like Chess. I inserted the Macbook Pro Applications Install CD but there were only Garage Band and an another application.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI am a bit desperate because I accidentally deleted all my phone contacts using iSync. Previous to the sync I had my contacts in my mac address book, but I deleted them to make a fresh list from my phone. Therefore my address book was empty when I did the sync. I thought that the contacts from the phone would be copied to the computer. But instead, when I did the sync all the contacts from the phone were deleted! I did a search in google and found that the version of Address Book under Tiger kept a file called ddressBook.data.previous that contained your contacts before the last change. But I cannot find that file in Leopard. Does anyone have an idea of where that file is? Or does anyone have a suggestion about how to recover my phone numbers?

It did drag, but it wouldnt stay in the dock, when I let go of the drag, it vanished in a puff of smoke. How do I get it back in the sidebar, it was pretty helpful over there. Just to be clear I'm talking about when I open a new finder window, I see a few folders under 'Places' --> Desktop, Applications, Documents and My name which is the home folder. Now all I see is Desktop, Applications, and documents. How do I get it back if possible, and when I do how do I put it on the dock? Next to apps and downloads folder? Nevermind I found out how to add it. CMD+, for finder prefs, and then sidebar. I still have no idea how to put the home folder on the dock now.
