Do I need to keep Apple Apps in the dock if I use the Launchpad?

I have a variety of apps in Launchpad and I have them arranged just how I like them but then I shut down my MacBook Pro at the end of the day and the next day my apps are in completely different locations. It is really quite annoying to have to rearrange them manually after I boot up my Mac.

I have two rows of installed apps packed in folders at the moment (and still so much space left on the first page), but Launchpad is putting every App I purchase over the MAS on a new (second) page. Is that a known issue? How can I fix this?

It is called "how to remove app from launchpad" but actually talks about deleting the app by means of launchpad. So how these actions are actually done? I mean, there's a lot of apps I do not need in the launchpad - like small utilities I rarely use. Yes, i know I can arrange them into folders and move these to some pages of the launchpad, but still. If they write "remove from launch pad" there must be a way to do exactly that.

I'm trying to remove some apps from launchpad. I can't find them in the applications folder or anywhere with finder. Tried dragging them to Trash but they just 'fly' back to the Launchpad.

Some apps in the applications folder are not showing up in launchpad. To be exact, iTunes.

I have just updated to OS X10.7.3 and now each time I start up the following apps have been added to the Dock:
Mission Control
App Store
Face Time
I don't want them in the Dock and have to delete them every time I start or restart my iMac. I have checked in Prefs and they are not listed under startup so I am at a loss as how to stop them auto loading onto the Dock.
Is there a way to have certain apps only showing up on the dock in defined spaces? i.e. Calendar is only showing on the dock when you switch to space 2. So it does NOT show in the dock of space 1.

I just received my iMac from FedEx today and got it all set up, but whenever I try to rearrange the icons on my dock, about 5-10 seconds later they just rearrange themselves randomly or sometimes go back to their previous location before I moved them myself.
I never had these problems with Snow Leopard on my last mac I found a suggestion to go to ~Library/Preferences and delete 'com.apple.preferences.plist' but I couldn't find it in that folder or anywhere on my local HD for that matter.

I have a MacAir running OSX 10.9.4 and just recently was given it by the school district I work in. Over the weekend, I took it into the Mac store because my apps were still updating with the old users Apple ID. The apple genius was able to fix this and reinstalled the most current iLife software fixing the problem. However, just yesterday I noticed that there is now a ? on my dock for iPhoto as well as on my Launchpad. In my launchpad, I had two iPhoto icons, so I deleted one, a few days prior to this happening thinking it was a duplicate, but now that the question mark is showing up for iPhoto, I'm wondering if I accidentally deleted the app entirely. If this is the case, how do I get it back??? I use iPhoto all the time for work and I'm wondering if this is something I can fix at home, or if I need to go back to the Mac Store.

This just recently started to happen. Safari and Mail disappear everytime I quit the applications and I have to relaunch from launchpad. I have the checked the option "keep in the Dock".
I am running Mac OS X version 10.7.4 on an iMac7,1 and have been for a while.
I can't seem to find any current information in the Apple Discussion Forums. Probable something really simple for a really annoying occurance.

Today the OS X dock on my late '08 MacBook Pro 15" stop working like normal. It used to be, when an App was open, the icon would appear in the dock with a sort of highlight.
Now, the apps run fine but no longer appear in the dock. If I minimize it, it does show as a running app in the left hand side, but that isn't what I want it to do. Is there a quick way to get it to work again?
I have no idea what happened. it was working fine last week, and then the other day I tried to open up iMovie and i get "The operation could not be completed / An unexpected error occurred (error code -10810)" This happens every time i try to open anything in my applications folder. the programs on my dock open up fine.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a new 21.5" iMac and have been playing around with everything. When I started two weeks ago I had an Apps folder with the Apps logo on the dock to the right of the dotted separation. All the applications are there lined up with the first application showing but for my consternation I cannot put the Applications in there folder like it was when I started out two weeks ago. This is the Snow Leopard OS.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMost of the apps that came with my Mac don't work. Mail, System Preferences, Firefox and Google Chrome all bounce for a bit in the Dock then disappear again. System Preferences sometimes appears, but as soon as I click on something it disappears again. Sometimes is appears twice in the Dock.
My mac is an old DET model, and i got in by cheating. (apple-s on startup, mount -uw /, rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone, shutdown -h now.) Could that have much to do with it? This is a multi-account system and none of these problems are experiences in other accounts made the same way. There are 2 admins and the account with probs are one of them.

I noticed the apple web page icon to be missing from the dock. You can still use the mouse and click on it with positive results. However, it is disconcerting to have the icon go missing with an OS update.
