Most of the time I add a photo as an attachment to a mail message. However, occasionally I want to insert the photo in-line with the message, but how to do it. What am I missing?

I went to the library to locate mail so I could insert an HTML signature. Problem is, I can't find Mail anywhere. It is not in the library, not in Cache, etc. When I attempt to search for Mail in the finder, before I can select Library as the search location, the finder shuts and pops me into another application. Where is mail? I can use it. It is in my apps folder, etc., but I cannot find it other than in that location. Can't get in to add a signature, etc.

I've been really miffed by Mac Mail's behaviour for adding attachments. When I add seemingly any sort of file into an email message, it sticks an icon of it exactly where my cursor is. This is pretty ridiculous - it messes up my formatting (line spaces etc) and looks silly in the middle of my message.
Is there any way to simply display the attachment icons only in the header of the message? I think Mail Attachments Iconizer is meant to do this, but I'm hoping there's a way within Mail to do this. To clarify I'm not talking about expanding images inline, but the fact that there's an icon of the attachments in the body of my message.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using the Mail (5.2) app in OS 10.7. I have my Inbox sorted by decending date, i.e. newest mail at the top. When I delete a message, Mail currently selects the message above, i.e. the one that had arrived after the deleted one chronologically. Since I work through my emails from newest to latest (usually), I will already have seen the newer mesage. What I want to see is the next message on the list, i.e. the next one, which arrive before the deleted one. My question there is: How can I advance to the previous message rather than the next one (chronologically) after deleting a message?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running an oldish version (5.02) of iMovie on my aging iMac (G5, OSX 10.4.11). I got a matching mini-DV camera this year, and am trying to use iMovie to edit the video.
iMovie allows to create titles (button in the icon dock at lower right). I can create one, and even get a preview. However, I do not manage to actually get it onto or between my fragments. The on-line manual tells (in translation) to "when the title is ready, drag it to the fragment or to the time bar viewer." However, I find nothing to drag and drop. When I click in the little window at the upper right I can only drag the position of the title. Also I do not see any button to click on to tell I'm finished. There is a button to (in translation) "complete", but it is and remains grayed out and unselectable.
I am a new iTunes user. I don't want to use iTunes as my default CD ripper or player. In fact, I don't want iTunes to ever start up unless I click on its icon. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a way of shutting off the auto-start after inserting a audio CD. The 'When you insert a CD:' drop-down menu only has a few options and 'take no action' is not among them. So, is there any way I can shut off auto-start for iTunes after inserting a CD? I'm currently running windows Vista 64bit.

I got a suggestion to just buy a (much cheaper) 10k-rpm disc instead, which is a viable option, but I'm really interested in this "new" ssd-stuff I know, it ain't that new, but it's almost affordable now...So, have anyone tried this and did you see a rise in performance?
View 16 Replies View RelatedI've created a movie in iMovie HD (v5 I believe) which I want to insert into a PowerPoint presentation created in PowerPoint 2004. I'm using OSX 10.4.11 and have QuickTime 7.5.5 installed on my G4 PowerBook. I've exported the movie from iMovie as QuickTime --> Expert -->Movie to QuickTime Movie --> MPEG-4 Video Compression. The converted movie plays in QuickTime fine, but when I import it into PowerPoint I get a message on the screen saying "QuickTime and a MPEG-4 video decompressor are needed to see this picture. However the movie plays fine once I run the slideshow. I also tried copying a still frame from QT into Photoshop (Edit --> Copy, then paste into Photoshop) and I get the same message. How can I stop this message from occurring and show the still frame as normal in the presentation, prior to running the movie?

But until I'm even close to where I am with PC/PowerPoint, I need help with what must be an incredibly simple task - taking a slide from one Keynote deck and adding it to a different Keynote deck with a different format... and having it match the new format. You'd think (or at least I'd think) it'd be like Pages, e.g. "Paste and Match Style"... no dice. In PowerPoint, this is automatic - drop a slide behind a slide and it matches that slide.
Is it possible that I can make it look like PDF file. When you open a pdf file on the right part for example it says chapter 15 and when you click it it opens chapter 15. Our instructor told us today that if you use table of contents you can do this. So, when you are writing long reports if you add a table or kind of thing to one part of your report nothing shifts.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis has happened to me twice in a week on two separate machines, with two separate discs. When inserted into the Mac, the "blank disc" window comes up, even though the disc is full of files. The "get info" window shows 8k of space taken up on the disc.
How can this be, and what can I do to fix it?

I was inserting photos into my document (due Friday) and somehow the work was deleted. I didn't back it up before inserting (never had trouble inserting before). It somehow saved it under the file name but also, somehow I got the original version back. How can I retrieve what was done prior to inserting the last two photos that stole my work? Does this thing autosave? (I'm really new to this from a PC). It never asked me if I wanted to save or delete so I had no warning! It just disappeared!

Normal When I insert a DVD or high capacity disc, I can hear it spinning and reading and then eventually ejects the disc. I never get any indication that the computer has read the CD/DVD. No Disc icon ever shows up on the desktop.

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 on my iMac. I also have iPhoto as it came with the iMac when I bought it. I don't really want to use iPhoto at all. I want to use PSE. How do I set my computer to open PSE when I insert my memory card or when I plug in my iPhone or for any other thing that uses photos? Can I just completely uninstall iPhoto?Â

In address book, all that appears is the persons name + photo. If i want to view other details (phone no. / address etc) i have to 'double click' on the name which then opens up a separate window. How do i get ALL info to appear under the name & photo?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI purchased a Hitachi Travelstar 2.5 Inch 500 GB 7200 RPM SATA II 16 MB Cache Internal Hard Drive 0S02858 to replace the dead hard drive in my black macbook (late 2006). I have the old hard drive out. Here are my 2 questions.... first, there is no pull tab on the new hard drive. How will I get it out if I need to? The one I removed is a Seagate and has a covering on the top with the plastic pull tab. should I put that over the new hard drive? It comes right off the old one. Second, when I compare the connectors there is a section, looking straight on at the pins, on the far left that in the old one has 4 pins. In the new Hitachi there is just an empty compartment. Does that mean it won't work? Or should I just try it? If I leave it without the plastic pull tab how will it come out if I have to get it back out?
