OS X V10.7 Lion :: How To Get Rid Of MobileMe Files
Apr 15, 2012
I still have that darned "MobileMe" preference pane in my System Preferences. I've looked at Preference Panes in both my root and user Library folders, but can't find it there. Using Easy Find, I found 335 files with "mobileme" in the file name. When I selected all and tried to trash them, only 6 files would delete, leaving 329 mobileme files. How do I delete all these mobileme files - I certainly don't need them any longer yet they seem to be everywhere and they seemed to be locked or inaccessible even under an admin account.

In preparation for leaving MobileMe, I was clearing out my iDisk. Im noticing there are some old sync files in the Library/Application Support/ that cant be deleted (Contacts, Bookmarks, etc.).Â
I get the error: "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items."Â
I believe these might be old sync files from back in the .Mac days. Not a catastrophe by any stretch, but I'd like to be able to clear everything out before being completely disconnected from MobileMe if possible.

I recorded mvi movies using my Canon Powershot camera a few years ago. They seemed to upload fine and show a thumbnail image, but won't play and won't download. With the iCloud switch coming, I'd really like to download the files.

I've just purchased a new Macbook Pro for my mum and I need to find the simplest, easiest and most fail proof solution to sync the two machines together. She is an author and works off an iMac in her study and will use the laptop in another room, but also when traveling around. She is a pretty much a computer novice so I need a method where she won't have to do anything or manually sync and won't have any issues with duplicate copies of files etc. If I was doing this I'd definitely be looking at something like Chronosync as I have a large hard drive full of music and video files but my mum only really uses word documents that don't take up much space. The guy in the Apple Store suggested moving all of her documents and files (only about 8GB) to MobileMe and then accessing them via iDisk from both machines. Would this be her best option?

I have a nearly full iDisk. I also have a nearly full hard drive, so my iDisk is not synced or saved locally. I need to save the iDisk contents to an external drive. When I try to download files from MobileMe website, it wants me to zip each file which is impossible. Is there any way I can get my iDisk files to the new external drive?

I have an old pre-Intel G5 Mac desktop and want to keep using Mobile me Mail and Entourage because they work so well and I have been using them for 10 years. I cannot get the mail system to work having moved everything else to iCloud. Followed the instructions but it just does not work and the mail.mac.com server will not accept my password. Any ideas?

Since 19th May 2012 I have not been able to receive e mails on my mac and can only access mobileme mails by logging onto the internet. I've tried all the obvious things to get it working but to no avail.Funny thing is that I can send e mails no problem from my mac but cannot receive - the only thing that does come thru is Applenews.

I've had my MobileMe account since 2003. Had my three Macs since my first G4 and added to them as I could afford.I also have an iPhone 3G. All have access to my MobileMe.
I also have my website on MobileMe. Can I ask, what happens, as I got a warning to switch, as my MobileMe will end soon, if I can't have Lion on my computers? My 11 years of connection to MobileMe will all be lost?Â
I live in Greece and Mac prices are through the roof here. This is a forced upgrade tactic, I feel. Will there be no alternative to online mail for the lesser mortals without Lion?Â
Could I have an answer, and not get deleted again, as, as the email states, time is running out.Â
