Jun 2, 2014I've been slowly but surely figuring out the FCE program. About 3 months ago I editied a video, exported it and when I clicked on the .MOV file it automatically converted it to a QuickTime compatible file, which I was then able to save and upload to YouTube with no issues. I have not updated or changed any settings or anything on my computer since then and now when I export a video it shows up as an .MOV file that QuickTime can't access. Also, when I click on the "more info" button, it sends me to a link with a list of compatible formats and at the very top of the list is .MOV! I really don't know what to do now.Â
I just want to be able to view the video I edited and post it to YouTube. Â

Feb 20, 2012I recently got a Macbook pro OS X Lion and for the past few months have had problems with trying to run movies on Quicktime 10.1. My videos files are usually .AVI but when I try to click on it quick time opens and then tells me that it can't read the file. I've search the internet for answer and have tried a lot of different solutions that others have had success on (including updating Perian and trying to convert the .AVI file to .MOV) yet I still have had no such luck.

Jun 30, 2012I am starting a new thread because I am unable to play mov files in QuickTime X.  This includes previously downloaded movie trailers from apple, mov files downloaded in itunes, mov files filmed on my iPhone or even files created from hd camcorder files. I am alo unable to play embedded QuickTime movies on the apple homepage, or play move trailers such as: [URL]Neither does the "download" option work. However if I force the files to play with QuickTime 7 or vlc, they play fine. If I use Firefox the embedded videos play ok, but in the example of trying to download the movie trailers still doesn't work.Â

Jun 22, 2012I used handbrake to rip a DVD to an external hard drive on my old MacBook running Tiger. Handbrake gave it a .mp4 extension. When I try to play it, either on my old MacBook running Tiger or on my Air running Lion, an error message says that 'QuickTime Player can't open "DVD_VIDEO.mp4 because the movie's file format isn't recognised.' A 'tell me more' button directs to this page [URL] which annoyingly assures me that mp4 format is suported! Â
Is this something to do with ripping the DVD on an old Tiger compatible version of handbrake...?Â

Jun 18, 2012I have several HD videos from my Sony NEX-3 camera that will not play very well from within iMovie. They freeze up, or run in slow motion while the sound track continues without any problem. I've seen other related comments on this forum, but no one has suggested a fix yet. I can play my clips just fine from the finder menu using "Quick Look". Other videos from the same camera work, what has changed?

also they work as a function keys when i press fn+Key , so i think it is not hardware problem.
