Aug 31, 2005I lost some very important data last night and was wondering if there's anyway to retrieve it. I had copied it from a textarea box in a webpage at one point to my clipboard. Is there anyway that I can see clipboard history or view a cache file from Safari that will have the data I had copied?

OS X :: If I Delete A New User Login - Will It Delete Data On Admin?
Jun 26, 2009I was running my iMac just in admin, which I know is frowned upon but that's the way I had it. I had a corrupt preferences file and I couldn't save any of my passwords etc Finally created a new user and reinstalled everything and it works fine. Had to replace all my passwords for my apps etc but other than that not that big a deal.
Question is can I now delete the other user now that I have a new admin login?:
It is just taking up storage space with a user which is corrupted but I don't want to erase the data in that user and also delete all my data in the new user as well.

Jun 15, 2012I got 32GB memory with exfat format.. the issue is that I dont have enough space in the 32GB while I just used about 5 GB?
I believe that this happining cause when I delete the files they are not actually deleted .. they are just dissappear from my interface... Â
Do I have to format the flash every time to store my data or you have a solution for this issue.. I do not use the FAT cause it is impposible to store more than 4 GB in copping and ntfs are not support by default Â

Sep 7, 2009I'm cleaning up my external HD (not my startup disk), and want to remove some old backed up stuff. I have a particular stubborn folder 'Acrobat User Data' that i cannot get into the trash.
I get an error stating: 'The operation cannot be completed because the item "8.0_x86" is in use.
Anyone knows how to force delete this sort of stuff in OSX 10.5.8?

Mar 31, 2012I have been using a borrowed Macbook Pro (5.4) OS X 10.6.8 so that I could learn some of the differences between the Mac & the PC's that I am familiar with.Before returning the Macbook to it's owner I'd like to wipe out the information I've put onto it while I had it. Documents, passwords, history etc. I'd like to return the laptop as it was when I rec'd it. The person I've borrowed it from is quite familiar with Mac systems, and I'd like to be sure my data is securly removed.
The person I borrowed from has their user account on the computer locked, and of course I can't damage their files in any way. I do have athority to create a new account.
I'm not sure if there is more information you need so that you can help me, but this should get the ball rolling.
MacBook Pro :: Trying To Delete Data But It Didn't Free Up Space
Nov 30, 2014I am trying to delete some data from my macbook pro. I am running out of storage and decided to purchase an external hard drive for my go pro videos. In total the videos are around 60-70gb of data. When i transferred them to my external hard drive i disconnected it and deleted the photos from iPhoto. The problem is....it didn't free up any space. Now my storage just allocated that space to other things which it shouldn't have done?
The first photo is before i deleted the movies. The second is what happened after i did. It now says that 71 gb of data is being used for backups. I do have Time Machine on and i do a backup once a month onto an external hard drive. Im currently running the newest version of yosemite.Â

Mar 10, 2012How to get IMovie to recognize that I changed the dates of movie clips that I had to import into IPhoto. Subsequently I deleted an event in IPhoto and the darn thing still appeared in IMovie so that option of just deleting and starting all over again seems not to work. (I did not go into trash and really delete it so IMovie might just follow the clips to Trash!) I happened to find that in the Iphoto Library is a file called IMovie Data (In Thumbnails file folder). If I delete that file, will it cause IMovie to regenerate the thumbnails and put all of my photos and clips in the data order I now have corrected in IPhoto?

I usually do this to change icons, but I've had to use third-party apps to do this since the upgrade. I'm sure it has to do with permissions, but I'm not very well versed in that aspect of OS X yet.

Nov 9, 2009With my new DSLR/RAW shots, I've bloated iPhoto to over 105GB for just over 20,000 photos. Was doing housecleaning, deleting files and the "aw *****" moment hit where I deleted some i wanted. Went into TimeMachine and did a Restore to my external 2TB HD (FW800) as temp place. Now, when I went to delete that 105GB file started last night 10:30 pm, here 7.5 hr later: still churning away.....wtf did I do wrong??

Jun 17, 2014I am using a MacBookPro late 2009 running10.9.3. I am using Ffx version 30.0, latest edition. I copy some text onto my clipboard using Command-C and then I use Command-F to find text on the firefox window. then when I try to paste my clipboard text (with Command-V), whatever I typed into the Command-F window is what gets pasted. This overwriting of my clipboard is brand new - Ffx never worked this way before. Â
I have restarted my computer. I have reset Firefox. I have restarted Firefox in safe mode -> the problem persists. I am using the Default theme in Firefox. I do not have any extensions. I have only a few add-ons but when they are disabled (= safe mode) the problem persists. I have unchecked the "use hardware acceleration when possible" option in Firefox preferences and the problem persists. I posted in Mozilla support and so far I have been told to try safe mode (doesn't work, as above). I have tried selecting the "automatically search when I start to type" in Ffx to go around the Command-F step --> the problem persists.Â
Edited to add: the command-F search function works fine. That's not the issue. It's that using Command-F automatically overwrites my clipboard text with whatever text I type into the command-F search box.Â

Oct 6, 2010I have been searching online for a few days now for a clipboard manager that can handle shortcuts/abbreviations. I do a lot of copy and pasting frequently used templates into forms for work and right now, it's not working the way I want it to. Currently, I use "Clips" as a solution. It works great... sometimes. I have submitted a ticket twice about my problem and no one seems to get back to me. What happens is that I will type my abbreviation and then it will either paste what I want in place of it, or not. If it doesn't, I have to restart "Clips" to get it to work again. Driving me insane when it stops multiple times during my sessions of filling out forms. I have about 5 phrases that I keep saved with an abbreviation as a shortcut.
