OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Downloaded The Inkscape Seems To Be A Mirror Image?

Jun 14, 2012

I downloaded the Inkscape, and it seems to be a mirror image, so I think it is not installing but it also does not work. I think it has to do with my mac being an older version (mac a1181 2.4/2x 1G/ 160) with mac osX 10.6 but version of iinkscape is the latest I think (0.48.2-1-snowleopard.dmg)

OS X :: Will Snow Leopard Recognize Mirror Configurations?

May 31, 2009

I'm currently setting up two 1TB hard drives as mirrored RAID drives.

Seems easy enough to do through Disk Utility, though zeroing out the data takes about 1.5 days for each drive, due to their size I assume.

Will it be easy to migrate these drives to Snow Leopard?

Will it just be a matter of adding them to the RAID list in SL's Disk Utility? Will it recognize them automatically?

OS X :: No Image Capture Preferences In Snow Leopard?

Sep 3, 2009

In Snow Leopard there is no longer a Preferences item on the Image Capture menu. I was looking for the option When a camera is connected, open:. I eventually found it in iPhoto preferences. Is this correct, or is my install (u/g from Leopard) broken? Also, what other Image Capture prefs were there, and where are they now?

OS X :: Snow Leopard Mouse Cursor Image Not Changing?

Nov 28, 2009

So I recently got a new iMac that has Snow Leopard and I noticed that this is about the second time that my mouse cursor has gotten stuck... not stuck in location, but the image of the cursor.

I'll move over a textbox and then it changes to the I bar cursor, but then I move away and it stays that... I move over a link and it turns into the finger icon, then I move away and it's still a finger.

Still in the beginnings of diagnosing, but I do have two user accounts logged in. The other account only has a Safari window open though, nothing exciting.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Make And Distribute And Image To Multiple Macbooks?

May 29, 2012

I am looking for a nice tidy option to create an image of a "master" client and distribute to a group of student Macbooks.  All the Macbooks are the same model and are all running Snow Leopard (though they were released with Leopard).  Initially, one of the teachers created a user account (called student) with all the software and settings that we needed,  on one of them and used Migration Assistant to copy that account to the others.

I prefer to have a master image I can restore to at any time. I figure that Disk Utility will do the job - I'm just not 100% sure of which steps to take. So far I have created my "master" macbook that is set up just the way I want it. Next I was going to attach it to the mac I use to run everything on (ARD etc) via firewire and boot the master in Target mode. Then I would run Disk Utility on my mac and use the New Image button to create an image called "studentPOD.dmg"  (There is room on my mac for this, or I can put it on an external USB disk) Is this correct, and once I have the image, how do I get it onto the other Macbooks?  Is there anything special I have to do to make it bootable?  They all part of a student POD and can be re-imaged at anytime without worrying about losing data...so I can afford to experiment...

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Bands In Pictures Printed From Preview (due To Image Expansion)

Mar 25, 2012

When I print a color picure from Preview, areas of medium color like an evening sky show bands about one inch wide. parallel to the print head movement direction. So one inch tall band will be lighter, the next darker. These are subtle differences, but ruin the print. I've contacted Epson who told me to try all the things I had already tried e.g. clean, calibrate, & align printer, new Epson brad ink, etc. They said if that didn't work it was the computer, or the cable, which I find unlikely. So I then tried printing from Gimp and Picasa, which did not have the problem, but also printed at the correcct size instead of expanding the image to fit the paper. This happens with both small images 320X231 as well as large ones 1600X1200

I read a comment in the community written in 2009 that said "After you choose File -> Print, under the "Orientation" section, about halfway down, is a drop-down menu. Choose "Preview" in there. After that, use the Scaling options to get it to print the size you want." I tried that but it  doesn't change the size of the printed image. I also tried fiddling with the image size on the Tools menu but that didn't help. It seems like the only way to shrink the image on the paper is to change to a smaller paper size, which is a workaround. Are these bands being caused by the expansion of the image? It's being blown up about 60%.Background: Preview version 5.0.3, OS 10.6.8, printer connected directly via USB.  Printer is Epson Workforce 633

OS X :: Leopard - Missing BSD Subsystem - Can It Be Downloaded

Feb 16, 2009

I bought an iMac, it had Mac OS X already installed, but I don't really know if BSD Subsystem was installed. I don't have the Windows Sharing option, my BSD.pkg file in Macintosh HD -> Library -> Receipts says its "Zero KB", but the "apropos" file is there. So, I don't really know. I inserted the Mac OS X installation CD, went to the "Optional Installs" folder and the BSD Subsystem isn't there, neither is in CD 2.

I tried executing the Mac OS X installation and I can't install it from there without first "erase and install" or something. Is there any workaround? I find it pretty weird that BSD wasn't installed and more over, that it is not even in my Mac OS X CD.

OS X :: Leopard Upgrade To Snow Leopard ... The Same As The Full Version Of Snow Leopard?

Jun 13, 2009

... long time reader, first time poster!! So I'm doing it. I'm switching from PC to Mac. I've been waiting for a while now and the new MacBook Pro's have convinced me. I'm buying the 13 inch this week.

However I'm slightly worried about the upgrade to Snow Leopard in September.

My question is if I buy a new MacBook Pro this week and upgrade from the current version of Leopard to Snow Leopard will it be the EXACT same as the version of Snow Leopard that ships with new MacBooks after September?

Is the upgrade just the same as the full software version available post September? Does the upgrade it just detect if you have the previous software and installs as if it were the full? Or does it just "patch" things depending on what's different from previous versions?

I can wait till after Snow Leopard is released in September 09 if it is different to Leopard upgraded to Snow Leopard.
