OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Authorizing Mac Air To Itunes Account?
Jul 6, 2012
I am having trouble authorising my Mac Air to my Itunes account. I found a discussion explaining how to go go into 'Terminal', then adding a command. I have followed all those appropriate steps and when I try to enter my 'Password' when asked, my keyboard doesn't work. No key press can be activated at all when trying to enter my password in 'Terminal. And I am in the 'Administrator' user.

We had a old macbook and it recently died so we went out and bought a new macbook pro. I have an iphone and I want to put some music on my phone. I set it up for to manually put music and vidoes onto the phone. It says my phone is hooked to another itunes account and for me to do this it would have to erase everything on my phone right now. I really don't want to do this. Is there a way around this?
I've reached my 5 computer limit of authorization. Problem is, I've only used two computers as I have been reinstalled Windows a few times this past year. Is there any way to get around this, or will it mean I won't be able to sync my phone correctly anymore?
Up till now, all the family have been using just one user account on our iMac. (OK, I now know that's not a good idea!) I'm now going to be working from home so have set up a new user as Work. I've been using an IMAP mail service in Mail on the family user account and I've now set it up on the work account. If I delete the IMAP account from Mail in the family user account, will this delete my mail off the IMAP server so I cannot access it on the wrok user account?
I am aware that when you purchase a new Mac you have to deauthorise your old mac and authorise your new one to play your iTunes library. When you can't do this Apple allow you to do this up to a maximum of 5 times. My question is that I suffered a catastrophic hard drive failure on my last two macs and therefore could not deauthorise those macs. I have now reached the maximum five times you can authorise your mac but find this unfair as at least two of those had to be used as a result of hardware failure. If my current mac fails I think I lose my library altogether as although it's backed up I can't authorise the music on any new macs. Am I right about this and is there any way I could get apple to take the hardware failures into consideration? I've paid for all of my content so why can't I continue to use it?
I want to deauthorise my old dead computers so I can authorise my new mac but I have already 5 computers authorised. If I de-authorise all my computers what happens to my iTunes library including all movies and tunes downloaded? How can I save my downloads and music library or are they automatically saved on my hard drive.
At the login screen, I choose my regular administrative account and enter my password. The screen goes blue, then returns to the login screen. No indication that my password is incorrect, and an incorrect password gives the proper response. I can log into the other account no problem.TechTool Pro shows no problem with my hardware.

Does anyone know if this recipe for customizing your Mac's Guest Account works under Snow Leopard? It would be great to have tips from people who have done this under Snow Leopard.
I have another user on our network with an administrator account on my MBP, who normally logs on remotely. After upgrading to 10.6 there's no remote access to their account. When I tried to access the account from the machine, I get into the account but everything is unresponsive and the only way out is to turn the computer off using the on/off button.
I went to the account tab in preferences but I don't see the guest account. Did this change with Snow Leopard. I want to take the guest account off my laptop.
I am considering having a roommate move in and letting them use my Mac. If I create them a guest account can I ensure that my email and files will be secure by having this second account, or is there another way to accomplish this?
My mail account (its gmail) doesn't work anymore- since this morning and l can't receive incoming message. I checked the settings and they seem fine, what should l do?Â
It seems it should be easy enough to delete a mail account! But I cannot. I highligh the mail account I want to delete, control + click and ONE of the options is DELETE MAILBOX. I have clicked it over and over again, I get a message like "are you sure?" Since I am I select DELETE, not cancel. And I just cannot get rid of this mailbox.Â
I have a private pop account and it is a hassle for me to constantly view the same email on my mac that i just viewed on my iphone to remove the "unviewed dot." If i view them on my mac it removes the dot from my iphone, ipad and itouch but not vise versa.
I've noticed a quirk in SW. If one deletes an account (for example, the original Admin account) and answers that he would like to delete the home folder, more often than not, he is asked for the permission of an Admin account. However, if one doesn't enter the credentials and presses cancel, the account (and home folder) disappear anyway. Is this normal? Or is there data residue hiding somewhere.Â
In Apple's OSX Mail app, I've got a mailbox that connects to an server that is no longer valid. That is, the address no longer works.  I'd like to have Mail stop checking that address. But I'd like to keep everything as is otherwise, if possible. In Mail preferences, I tried unchecking "include when automatically checking mail" -- but the account still gets checked when I hit "Get Mail" manually. I tried unchecking the box for "enable this account", too, but when I do that, all messages in that mailbox seem to disappear. Are they saved anywhere? I don't want to lose them and I still want to be able to search them.Â
Okay, so a few months ago I was using a tutorial on how to set up a Minecraft server on my Mac, and I went to the part about making a server daemon, which is supposed to have the server automatically running 24/7 from your computer.Well I never got that working and I don't play Minecraft anymore, but when I turn on my computer, at the login screen, it has my main User, then this _minecraft user. The _minecraft user isn't under Accounts in System Preferences, and I looked in the Users folder, it's not there either. This is the tutorial I used to make it if that helps at all [url]
I'm trying to sync my icloud account with my computer but this message comes up .The calendar [url].. was not found on the server. Make sure the URL is correct. I can't find the URL for my icloud account.
I have been using a borrowed Macbook Pro (5.4) OS X 10.6.8 so that I could learn some of the differences between the Mac & the PC's that I am familiar with. Before returning the Macbook to it's owner I'd like to wipe out the information I've put onto it while I had it. Documents, passwords, history etc. I'd like to return the laptop as it was when I rec'd it. The person I've borrowed it from is quite familiar with Mac systems, and I'd like to be sure my data is securly removed.
The person I borrowed from has their user account on the computer locked, and of course I can't damage their files in any way. I do have athority to create a new account.
I'm not sure if there is more information you need so that you can help me, but this should get the ball rolling.
I cannot log into my account after having changed my password on the internet. I tried entering that same password on my computer mail account, but it won't work.
I use outlook for my e-mail (hate it) and ran an update. Now when I try to open outlook mail it says an older version of outlook is running and to delete daemon from start up.Â
I started having problems a couple of weeks ago with logging into my main account, I have 10.6.8, when I login to my main account it will either just be blue or maybe show the background image then will return to the login screen, I could access my guest account fine, so I created a new admin account and used console to grab the log when I tried to log into my original account.Â
I have a new macbook pro that did not have a disk, OS X lion 7.3.4 was pre installed so how can i change the administrators name and password, it did not migrate properly from my hard drive.., now there is some mysterious administrator name and or password??
