I have a late-2009 27" iMac i7 with 8gb Ram and a 1TB HD. I updated my OS to Yosemite soon after it came out. Now, I admit I don't use the computer that often, so it took a while to notice the issues but, we first realized there was a problem in early November when my husband could not download a game (presumably because of the wi-if connectivity issues supposedly fixed in the latest update). It was around a week after he finally was able to download tthe game, that he was playing it and the computer would just shut down out of nowhere. No warning, just shut down and restart with the "your computer shut down unexpectedly" screen.
Now, because it happened so many times, I started to get worried about all of my photos and music that is stored on thIs computer, so I went to do a back-up on my time capsule. This was when I noticed my computer had at some point been renamed (not by any human) to "my Computer (3)" when prior to yosemite (as far as I can tell) it was named "my computer". Also at this point I could not for the life of me get the time capsule to back up the computer as it was looking for "my computer" and all that was available was "my computer (3)". This is when it had been working flawlessly for years. I ultimately had to wipe the TC completely, reformat it and start a back up from scratch. It was for the short period of time that the time capsule was not connected to the computer that we noticed it was no longer shutting down unexpectedly. however, one the TC was reconnected and doing a back up, anything extra that you would be doing (with the exception of web surfing) caused the computer to crash.
So, simple fix, right? Turn off the auto back ups while and try to remember to turn them on every so often. fine , dandy, whatever. However, I have done the latest yosemite update and the wi-if still does not seem to be staying connected, disconnecting every few minutes. Now I'm seemingly having more issues with a game that is well within the limits for my computer and the game will not start.

I have my drive partitioned between Tiger and Snow Leopard. I am trying to move myself over to Snow Leopard so I don't have to keep switching. The problem is that my old apps that alledgedly will work in SL, give me an error box when I launch them. It happens with Appleworks 6 and Quicken 2007. I've installed Rosetta but don't know what else to do.When I launch either application, it says it unexpectedly quit and gives this info: Process: [code]

if anyone with the latest 15" DL DVD Al Powerbook has had it shut down unexpectedly? I'll just be doing something (checking email, surfing web etc) and it'll just turn off no warning, no "shutting down" message, no low battery warning, nada. just dies. I'll be able to reboot using the power button straight away (even using battery, so it's not a low battery charge problem) and it works normally again, but has to do the full reboot sequence. It's a bit spooky really. i'll be happily going along and suddenly nothing. Problem is, it'll only happen after i've had it running for a few days (i just shut the lid after i'm done with it) so it would be very hard to prove to Apple. Anyone else has had this happen?

I just ran a software update on my Apple Server that runs on 10.6.8 and got the software update quit unexpectedly.
I removed the apple.softwareupdate.plist under library preferences and empty the trash also. I ran the repair permission and it seems to repaired some permissions. I ran the check disk and the disk is OK. I reboot the server and got the same problem when I run the Software Update.

Recently, after a clean install to Snow Leopard (from Lion). I can no longer open the desktop and screen saver preference pane. I click, it hangs, I click again, and the entire system preferences unexpectedly quits.
I've googled and searched, deleted all of the plists mentioned in most of the threads, I've removed caches, created new admin accounts, tried logging in as the root to no avail. I've got my crash report:Process: System Preferences [1141]Path: /Applications/System Preferences.app/Contents/MacOS/System PreferencesIdentifier: com.apple.systempreferencesVersion: 7.0 (7.0)Build Info: SystemPrefsApp-1750100~13Code Type: X86-64 (Native)

A while back I deleted a lot of my libraries and what I thought were unneeded files. Now a ton of programs are quitting: Adobe Reader, IMovie, Flipshare.I haven't tried anything else but I assume many more.Firefox and Office apps seem to be working fine though.I verified disk utilities and it came up with a bunch of stuff in the libraries.I repaired, and they still quit unexpectedly.

Since upgrading to 10.6.1 I've found that every time i wake my MB from sleep, applications keep quitting left and right, and I get these "application quit unexpectedly" messages. It's happened with Entourage, Safari, iTunes, Dashboard. It's getting pretty annoying. I've tried resetting the PRAM but that didn't help.
Does anybody have a clue what to do?!
I get a notice on screen after finishing and closing Safari to tell me that Safari Closed unexpectedly - how can I stop this?

A little over a week ago I did a software update--not sure what exactly was updated. Since then, Software Update, Safari, Pages, Numbers, iPhoto (not sure yet what else) won't open. Within seconds of clicking the icon to launch, they crash with the message, "Pages quit unexpectedly." I tried restarting MANY times. Is my computer toast? My other applications still work like Word, Firefox...

Safari is constantly shutting down on me. I dont know how to fix it....here is the message I get whenever it shuts down
[code]...
After around 10 to 15 minutes of using Safari, no matter what website I'm on, it will suddenly close on me. A message will pop up saying something along the lines of - Safari unexpectedly closed - and will have the options to report, reopen or close. I know it would be useful for me to tell you exactly what it said, but by the time I opened up a new Safari and logged in, I've forgotten what it said, it did however mention "Steinberg" something.
