OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: IWorks No Longer Working With New Version Of Software
Jun 18, 2012
I have a macbook 10.6.3. I installed iworks which worked perfectly. Later I installed mac osx snow leopard new version 10.6.3. Now iworks no longer works because the error message says it needs 10.6.6. I deleted snow leopard thinking I was returning the os to its previous state where iworks worked - but it still doesn't. How can I get iworks working? re-installing it didn't work. If I didn't uninstall snow leopard correctly, how is it uninstalled correctly?
My HP C4680 scanner/printer used to work with my Mac. The printer still works fine, but after upgrading to Mac OS X 10.6.8 the scanner is no longer working. I receive a message - scanner not found.
Info: MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.6.8)
I have had a Canon MX700 for a few years now, and have generally been very happy with it - when it works.Â
One bugbear of mine is that the "Scan to" button on the scanner stops working from time to time. It will work magically for AGES, then.. Pressing the button shows "Set the PC to start scanning" on the printer.Â
This usually results in me spending hours removing, and re-installing Canon drivers/software, restarting my Mac(s), the Printer, my Wireless, etc, until I eventually get this going again. (Pressing the "Scan to" button results in a list of my Macs to scan to).Â
When the printer is doing this, scanning from the Mac(s) works no problems - using Canon's Scan software, or Image Capture. Printing works fine also. So, the Printer can clearly communicate to the Mac(s). It just doesn't allow you to initiate the scan from the Printer.Â
Which version of Image Capture should be in Snow Leopard Mac OS-X 10.6.8 When my wife attempts to run Image Capture 3.0.3 on her system (her Imac cannot be upgraded to Lion unfortunately) is unable to run. The error message is: You cannot use this version of the application Image Capture with this version of Mac OS-X.Â
... long time reader, first time poster!! So I'm doing it. I'm switching from PC to Mac. I've been waiting for a while now and the new MacBook Pro's have convinced me. I'm buying the 13 inch this week.
However I'm slightly worried about the upgrade to Snow Leopard in September.
My question is if I buy a new MacBook Pro this week and upgrade from the current version of Leopard to Snow Leopard will it be the EXACT same as the version of Snow Leopard that ships with new MacBooks after September?
Is the upgrade just the same as the full software version available post September? Does the upgrade it just detect if you have the previous software and installs as if it were the full? Or does it just "patch" things depending on what's different from previous versions?
I can wait till after Snow Leopard is released in September 09 if it is different to Leopard upgraded to Snow Leopard.
I have 10.5.8 and I think I read that in the latest FF update, Java is disabled and with my version of software, no way to make it work anymore. Is this true? I have an onlime game that I think requires Java to play and I cannot access the game today and am wondering if that is the reason. I could play yesterday, but not today, it hangs when loading. It could be the game site itself, but I got to thinking about Java and did some research and saw that Java is only supported now in 10.6 and higher. If it is a java issue, is there any way to get it back and working with my system? I tried accessing it using Safari, same issue, hangs in same place.
Anyone have any idea of a feature that was originally going to be in Boot Camp, allowing it to switch very quickly between a hibernated version of Windows and a sleeping version of Leopard, is gonna be back for Snow Leopard?
Apparently the feature was dropped before the final version...
This would've been awesome, would love to see it back...
I recently received a copy of the latest build of Snow Leopard (10A354 i believe). Now when i upgraded the first time GeekTool was working fine. Then i was working on changing the MenuBar to black and the whole system just crashed on me. I had to do a complete reinstall of regular Leopard and then upgrade again to Snow Leopard. Last night was rough. Sooo im not going to try that again for a little while.
I want to have both options of doing a Clean Install or an Upgrade of leopard to snow leopard.Which DVD on Amazon should I buy?Can you point me to a link/info ? And I also bought my macbook pro in late june 2009.
In my app store on version 10.6.8 Mac OS XÂ I am trying to get apps but when I click 'install' it says I need Mac OS X 10.7.2 and I tried to update it in the apple symbol drop down box but it said all my software updates are up to date.
I have a Mac OS X Snow Leopard version and my fan keeps coming on. I have been away for a week so it has not been used and yet when I started it up the fan started straight away. Is there anything I can do?
"Photoshop CS" and "Acrobat 6.0 Standard" suddenly stopped working in my iMac, apparently after I upgraded it to MacOS 10.6.8 (the latest version of Snow Leopard). Both programs had worked normally until that OS upgrade. I deleted Photoshop CS and tried to re-install it from the original CD, but the installation never proceeds because I get an error message entitled: "Install Adobe Photoshop CS quit unexpectedly". This is the full error message:Â
Process:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â LaunchCFMApp [1516] Path:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â /Volumes/Adobe(R) Photoshop(R) CS/Adobe(R) Photoshop(R) CS/Install Adobe Photoshop CS.app/Contents/MacOS/Install Adobe Photoshop CS Identifier:Â Â Â Â Â com.MindVision.InstallerVISE
Doe anyone else think that, when booting into 64-bit mode, your boot times are longer? I swear mine are 2-3 seconds longer. Performance seems just a tad bit better, so I'll stick with 64-bit mode, but I wanna see what other people think.
After upgrading to Snow Leopard a program I need for my job no longer works. The program is Webex. They claim that it should work by opening Safari in 32 bit mode or with Firefox, but neither option works for me. My plan is to reinstall Leopard (10.5) on an extra partition and reboot into it whenever I need to start a Webex session. I don't think this will cause any problem with my Snow Leopard partition, but thought I would check first.

Just a quick question; I just received a SL upgrade DVD for one of my Macs, in the post, and it had the disc number: "2Z691-6557-A". I was a bit surprised that the DVD just came in a simple paper sleeve, tossed into a padded envelope with 2nd class postage. Is this the experience of others?. Also, is this particular upgrade DVD (with the same disc number as mine) capable of erase and install?. I don't like doing upgrades, I'd rather start fresh.
having problems installing the app store onto my mac.. I have just upgraded to Snow Leopard and have version 10.6.8.. I have followed the instructions and upgraded but that has not worked..
I would like to have a start-up DVD of the latest/last version of Snow Leopard, and I understand that I can purchase a Snow Leopard DVD from the Apple store. Is it the latest ie 10.6.8, or the original.Â
Trying to upgrade from leopard to snow leopard on my macbook, for some reason i think the install did not work (still says it is running on version 10.5.8) i am trying to upgrade to snow leopard so that i can move on to lion.
I have updated my system to snow leopard. All went fine until I hit the print button... All my previous printers are gone. I have a HP laserjet p3005dn which worked fine under 10.5.x but it's no longer visible. When I open up the fax/ print pref pane and scan for new printers only the (software) PDF9 printer is visible. How can I get my printer back?
Hardware: MacPro dual quad core OS: 10.6.3 with recent bonjour update and printer updates for HP
I just upgraded to Snow Leopard (OS 10.6.1). I have an HP DeskJet F4280 All-In-One. It used to work great under 10.5.x, but now it will print fine but not scan.
If I launch HP Device Manager, and double-click Scan Picture, HP Scan Pro window opens, but I get the following error: Sorry, scanner could not be initialized (Scanner not found.).
If I press the hardware Scan button on the top of the unit itself, the power light blinks rapidly for about 10 seconds, then reverts to its normal state, and nothing else happens.
If I launch Image Capture 6.0(424) I get this error: No camera or scanner connected.
Under System Preferences>Print & Fax>Scan a window opens that reads HP Deskjet F4200 series and I click on Scanner, but it says No scanner selected.
However, System Profiler lists Deskjet F4200 series under USB High-Speed Bus, and, as already mentioned, the printer works fine.
My Samsung ML-2510 stopped working when I installed snow leopard. I've tried the following, after finding others with similar problems (before snow leopard).
1. re-installing the driver from the Samsung website.
2. deleting the printer from the "printer & fax" pref, then adding it again, selecting "print using..." the new driver from the drop down menu.
3. downloading the Samsung Drivers from the apple website
