OS X V10.5 Leopard :: How To Reinstall Java On MacBook Pro
Jun 3, 2012
How do i re-install java on my macbook pro running 10.5.8. When I open a .jar file, it pops up "the java jar file could not be launched. Check the console for possible error messages." Since I just purchased this used laptop, I figured it needs java re-installed.
I'm having a problem playing games on Pogo.com. When I click on a game it says I need to download Java. I click download, it says Apple has its own version and to update my software. Did that, doesn't work. I found this article.†[URL]. I found the Java preferences folder, it looks exactly like this, except that I don't have the "Enable applet plug-in and webstart applications" box on mine. Is there any way to uninstall and reinstall Java?
I made a Java applet with Xcode 3.2 and i load it to firefox or Safari(Yeah i've updated my java)and for example
i made a HELLO WORLD simple applet to be in black color letters, then compiled and yeah it worked but then i redid it for the letters to be red.. and they kept being black..no matter how many times i recompiled the applet.
And yeah the HTML is pointing to the correct class file. Also, If if i add a Thread and implement runnable.. then nothing shows up in the canvas.
And also, what ever happened with the appletviewer application? We don't have that anymore.
now the only way to run applets is through a web browser.  Is java applet developement in 10.6 really over?
I am having problem with post processing a simulation. Every time I hit the "plot parameter" button within the software I get the same error. Opening the file on a windows machine works perfectly fine, therefore I have tried updating the Java through "Software update" and still no luck.
Here are the error details:
Exception:java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: apple/laf/CUIAquaComboBox(rethrown as com.femlab.util.FlFatalException) Messages:Fatal error.- Type: NoClassDefFoundError
setting up my environment to develop on java 1.6.after trying to set my etc/launch.conf like so setenvJAVA_HOME /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Home/lsetenv CATALINA_BASE /Library/apache-tomcat6020 setenv CATALINA_HOME /Library/apache-tomcat6020 setenv CATALINA_TMPDIR /Library/apache-tomcat-6.0.20/temp
I have a macbook air. I need to reinstall osx leopard. I downloaded an image of leopard. However, I cant get it mounted on my 8gb USB stick. I only have a windows computer. I tried Transmac but it did not work> It asks me to decompres the DMG file.
I misplaced my recovery disk so im using my leopard cd when I put in osx it prompts to restart the computer. Once I do that it keeps rebooting over and over it has a grey screen but here the mac reboot sound. Once I take out the leopard cd then it reboots up normally.
I just got a macbook from ebay. It didn't come with its original install discs. I know it's the latest white model before the aluminium updates- it has a 2.4ghz processor and 160GB. I want to re-install leopard on it and do an erase and install. Is it OK to use the leopard discs that came with my housemates imacs? Or will they be different in some way?
So I got the black screen of death on my 2.2 santa rosa macbook pro and Apple changed the logic board for free because of a known Nvidia 8600 Gt problem. The thing is now leopard doesn't run as smooth as it did before the incident. I've repaired the disk permissions, and it got a little better, but still... it doesn't feel like it was. Is there anything else I could do? Do you recommend formatting and resintalling Leopard?
im trying to reinstall OS X leopard 10.5.2 for a spring 2008 MACBOOKPRO model, it all went fine until the machien asked me to insert the INSTALL DISC 2 and after that computer doesnt recognize install disc 2  and i cant reinstall it with INSTALL  DISC 1 either, this is with original DVD9 (quite old DVDs), i dont know what is wrong, i did everything by the rules and now i cant restart de installation process, would love to get some info on how to restart the whole thing and if the DVDs age is somewhat related to this glitch.
how to install Java SE 6 on Mac OS 10.5? I think I have all the relevant updates, but still seem to be using Java 5. There's a web application I'd like to run that requires Java 6, and it isn't happy with current setup.
What has been released to install as a security update? I seem to be clicking on one web link which takes me to another and nothing to actually install. Typical Apple. Really wish I hadn't bought this MacCrap Air - I do miss my PC.
I was running java 1.6.0_33 on my Mac Lion and later I installed java 1.7.0_05. Now in my Java preferences I see both the Java SE available. Now my problem is when I enable Java 7(& select Enable applet plug-in and Web start applications), my JNLP file doesn't run with java web start, from Safari as well as Firefox. When I try running the jnlp using Open With option and selecting Java Web Start present in /System/Library/CoreServices, nothing happens.
When I try running the JNLP file from Terminal suing command /System/Library/CoreServices/Java Web Start.app/Contents/MacOS/Java Web Start xyz.jnlp I get following error
Java Web Start splash screen process exiting... Can not find message file : No such file or directory.
The computer I use at work is 2.5 years old and there is no more support?I work on a web based system 90% of my daily work and it works with Java Applets. In Safari I have a buggy Java Applet which doesn't show and work as it should. In Firefox since the Java version gets blocked, the browser completely crashes after allowing FF to use the Java Plugin anyway. In Chrome I cannot start the Applet even when I allow Chrome to do this. I can not update to the latest system as I don't have the App Store to update to 10.7 How is it possible that 10.5 is no more supported?
