OS X V10.5 Leopard :: Blank Screen From Idling And Prompt User To Login When Awaken?

Jul 1, 2012

I want to stop using updated Mac OS X 10.5.8 (I think it happens in 10.7.4 too IIRC)'s Flurry screen saver and just let Mac OS X 10.5.8 blank/sleep its screen to save energy, not make Macs (Mac Mini, MacBook Pro, etc.) hot especially in the heat waves, and use less resources. I noticed making display (not the computer) sleep and then waking does not ask me to log in like a screen saver would do. Is there a way to do this for sleeping displays?

Safari :: Login Screen Goes Blank?

Apr 29, 2012

I have built a charity website for the Gurkhas [URL] there is a secure members area which requires the member to put in their email address and password.  One particular elderly member with an 9 month old Apple Mac running latest version of Safari finds that when he puts his email and password in and hits 'Sign In' the input lines go blank.

The software is Serif Webplus X5 and is working with Windows and IE and most other Apple Mac/Safari users.  I am not an expert in the Mac/Safari environment and have remotely logged on to this members machine and cannot see anything obvious.

I and Serif have both tested the particular webpage with Safari in a windows environment and several Serif Forum users who are Mac users have tried the page with no problems.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Login Screen Shows One User Account?

Jun 2, 2012

A machine we have has 4-5 user accounts on it. The login screen GUI just has one user visible and I can't figure out how to log with my user ID and password. There aren't many places to click & I've tried pretty much every thing I can think of to log in as a different user. Am I missing anything obvious? Is there a chance that only certain accounts are enabled for logging in after a reboot?

My computer was originally set to autologin when I first got it but I set it to require name and password.

Logging in as an Admin user or a new user account is fine, and I still get the Kernel Panic if I boot up in to Safe Mode. OS X :: Login Prompt Not Shown When Wake Up From Sleep

Mar 11, 2009

Am I the only person who has issues with this sometimes refusing the show the login prompt when it wakes up, leaving you with a black screen? The system is still responsive, but all you can do is move the mouse, since there is no dialog. Does this ever happen to anyone else? Also is there any way to clear it aside from power-cycling the machine, and doing "killall loginwindow"?

OS X :: Password Hints From Screensaver Login Prompt

First of all, how do I get my password hint to show up from the screensaver login/password prompt? I have my password and hint set up so that only people close to me will be able to figure it out in case they ever need to use my laptop, however at the moment the hint doesn't even show up. Also, I'm aware that you can change the text to the login page for user accounts, but is there any way to change the text for the screensaver login prompt? If so, where would I find it in "Library"?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Remote Screen Share Login With Own User Account Interrupts Other Users?

Mar 1, 2012

Apple writes in its OS X Lion screen sharing description that: "You can remotely log in to a Mac with any user account on that computer and control it, without interrupting someone else who might be using the computer under a different login."

Unfortunately, this is not true in my case: When other users are using my 2011 iMac for webbrowsing or DVD watching and I log in on my own acount from my macbook pro, video will stop playing, the spinning wheel sometime appears. The system does not really crash, but wil respond very slowly and in fact is not useable until I as remote user stop my activities or log out. This is not how it should be, especially as the iMac's CPU, memory and network load are very low according to activity monitor's information.

MacBook Pro :: Windows 7 Cannot Access Lion SMB Share, No Login Prompt

Apr 15, 2012

I am able to access my Windows 7 machine's shares on my Mac (Lion 10.7.3) through SMB with no problems at all. However, I am unable to access my Mac's shares on my Windows machine.

I have been fighting with this issue for hours and haven't found a solution yet. I've done a bunch of Googling and have found plenty of posts related to my issue, but no solutions. Everyone seems to be at least receiving a login prompt when they try to connect to a Mac OS X Lion Samba share from a Windows 7 machine, but I am not. All I get is "Windows cannot connect to \MAC" after ~15-20 seconds of waiting.

Here's what I've tried:Reconfigured all of my settings on both the Windows and Mac systems, then restarted. Windows: set to 40- and 56-bit encryption for File Sharing, instead of 128-bit.Windows: network discovery and file sharing enabled.Windows: Network Security: LAN Manager Authentication Level to Send NTMLv2 response only” to “Send LM & NTLM – use NTLMv2 session if negotiated as suggested in another post.Windows: verified workgroup as WORKGROUP.Windows: verified Windows Firewall options for File Sharing.Windows: cleared credentials for my Mac's share in the Credential Manager, still no login prompt.Windows: reinserted my Mac's credentials in Credential Manager for the share, same issue. Mac: Enabled File Sharing, enabled SMB, enabled my Mac's account.Mac: verified Firewall settings for File Sharing.Mac: verified workgroup as WORKGROUP in WINS/NETBIOS configuration. For both systems: verified IP configuration as DHCP under the same gateway and subnet mask--they're clearly under the same network.

IMac (Intel) :: When Returning To Open User Session From Login Screen / Windows Have Moved Or / Been Resized

Jun 6, 2014

I recently updated by 2013 27" iMac to OS X 10.9.3 and since then, I have a weird problem when I switch from one user to another: I often have several user sessions opened for several account, and when I switch from one to the other, or go to the login screen and open an already open session, I find the windows I had left open resized and/or moved. They're often moved to the upper left corner, and resized as if the screen was much smaller than it actually is. It worked without any problem in OS X 10.9.2…

OS X :: Won't Load Leopard / Showing Blank Screen

Feb 12, 2009

So, I have a new MBP. I bought a 500gb drive to swap out with the 250gb drive. I did make a time machine backup, I have formatted the 500gb drive to be bootable etc.

However, I was hoping to do a fresh install and pick and choose what I moved over from Time Machine. So with the blank drive in the MBP, I have tried 2 different OS X discs. 1 that came with the MBP, and the upgrade disc I bought for my MacBook (in case the discs somehow behave differently)

Holding down C on restart does nothing in most cases. Holding down Option tends to get my pointer on screen allowing me to select the DVD, then it goes off and sounds like the DVD is seeking/running, and the screen alternates from it's blue and black, like its doing reboots without loading. That has gone on for a long time with no new messages/errors/status/reason for me to believe anything is actually happening.

My question is this....what am I not doing right, or what can I do different, so that a blank HDD can load Leopard? I'd rather not clone or load off of time machine, just never loved the image I have, wanted a fresh start.

OS X V10.5 Leopard :: Blank Screen After Using Kapersky Flashback Removal Tool

Apr 11, 2012

A friend used the Kapersky Flashbackcheck.com site to check her MacBook running OS 10.5.8. The UID check indicated her computer was infected so she told me she downloaded and ran the first option that she presumes was the Flashback Removal software. After running it and restarting her computer the screen was blank. There wasnt even a menu bar. However the Skype login popped up and that suddenly made a menu bar appear giving her access to the normal Skype menus, Apple Menu, spotlight etc. A bit of rummaging around indicates that all her files are still there it is just that the desktop doesnt launch (Finder problem maybe?) after multiple restarts.

I won't be able to actually get the computer for a week as she is a student and out of town presently.
