OS X :: Installed Super Dock On My Mac - Dock Preferences
May 18, 2009
I recently installed Super Dock on my Mac and uninstalled it because i didn't like it, but it seems that the effects of the program still exist (custom animations and behaviors made by the program). How would I go about fixing that ? Can I reinstall the Dock ?

I've been trying to change my docks theme for the past few days but have been unable. I've used Candybar, Dock Library etc. and none of them seem to work. I'm really annoyed because it used to work for me. Any suggestions on how I can remedy this problem?

Today the OS X dock on my late '08 MacBook Pro 15" stop working like normal. It used to be, when an App was open, the icon would appear in the dock with a sort of highlight.
Now, the apps run fine but no longer appear in the dock. If I minimize it, it does show as a running app in the left hand side, but that isn't what I want it to do. Is there a quick way to get it to work again?

Very suddenly my dock has disappeared, (and occasionally reappears), and is now completely non-useable. Why..? I have created other accounts on my computer previously and the dock on those is fine...I have looked in Activity monitor and it flashes on and then disappears in there.I tried using terminal to 'killall Dock', but this did nothing...Am using Leopard on Alu iMac.

I installed 2 ne w Optical drives in a 2008 3,1 MacPro Quadcore. After installation and booting up, the system profiler failed to show ANY optical drives and I was unabel to open/eject the drives naturally. I then unplugged the bottom one and rebooted and the top drive (still plugged in ) worked. I then shut down and unplugged the top drive and plugged in the bottom drive - rebooted and now the BOTTOM drive is recognized. When BOTH drives are plugged in , the system fails to show either of them.So when individually plugged in it's fine but when bith are plugged in neither of the drives are detected or operate.

On my MacBook Pro (Late 2007, Discrete, Snow Leopard), Adobe Photoshop CS5 keeps removing itself from my dock for no reason. I'll drag the app to my dock and within about 5 seconds, the app simply disappears from the dock. I have tried dragging it back multiple times, restarting my computer, etc, but it always disappears within about 5 seconds.

I am a fairly new Mac user (2 months) and there is something I'd like to do that I haven't figured out how to do (or even if possible). I'd like to setup something on the Dock so that when I click on it a pop-up list displays that has all my applications and I can then click an application to start it. I have created an alias to my Application folder and have moved that folder to the Dock, but when I click on it, it opens a window that I then have to close after my application starts. I want it to work more like the Start menu in Windows (gasp).

My boyfriend and I were trying to spiff up my mac. (I have a mac mini btw) Anyway, we went onto firefox and downloaded a whole bunch of things so that I could have cool themes. Then he downloaded something that would change the top bar to a different color. [URL] Theres a picture if your confused by my crappy detailing. But after he downloaded that, and something else to make my dock better. its dissapeared. In its place is this thing called terminal. I don't know what it is. Neither of us do. ): But now when i try to get the widgets up, my dock dissapears. When i exit out of terminal, my dock dissapears.

I was trying to customized my dock. I downloaded some app. from apple like Candy Bar, Dock Library, leopard dock app. Unfortunately none of this app were able to change my dock ( i tried thousand of times) , in fact, I cant even go back to the original.. looks horrible and without any of the formats it used to have . I went to system/library/coreservices/dock/contents/resources, and i try to modify it from there but I couldn't . I also, noticed that I can only read this folder ( i'm the only user of my computer) I checked the my account and logged as an Administer user. What can I do to go back to the original or be able to custom my mac?

for a while now I've had a problem that is driving me up the wall. I cannot remove an icon from my dock (as in dragging it off or right click, and hitting "Remove from Dock") without the Dock locking up for a second, crashing, and restarting.
On restart, the icon I wanted to remove is still there.
Here's a video:

I tried going into ~/Library/Prefernces and deleting com.apple.plist and the other db plist file but besides resetting my dock preferences, the problem persists. Do you think it could be an issue with Dock.app itself (on my system)?

Occasionally I've gotten a weird situation where the Dock would crash over and over. I can't figure out how/when it happens. So far it seems like a simple login/logout fixes it for a while.
Any idea looking at this crash log?

I have noticed over the last week or so that my battery has been faster than normal, and also that the fans have been spinning faster/more often. Eventually I looked at CPU usage in activity monitor and it said that the dock was using 101.xx%. I killed it and it seems to have worked. My question is, why was this happening and is that normal?

I have nothing else running. I used to have Parallels, but when I started having this problem I removed it, and it still continues to happen. When I login as another user though, it doesn't happen anymore.

I've seen several post about this issue, which was caused by either VMware or changing the desktop background. However, neither is the problem for me. I have the default background and I don't even have VMware installed. Here is a screenshot of my active programs:'
I have the new MBP with Retina and Lion 10.7.4. I tried loading in safe mode with same problem. I don't use parallels or anything similar either.
