OS X :: Install 30 Second Rewind Button For DVD Player?
Jul 30, 2010
I'm watching DVD lectures on my computer and occasionally want to listen to a short segment over again. Is there a way to install addons for the DVD player on OSX? For example, I'd like to have a dedicated button that rewinds the dvd back 30 seconds so I can watch the scene again.
have in the past few weeks uprgraded from tiger to leopard.Everything has been ok but i think i might have deleted some vital part of Quicktime player when i tried to clean up.I only realised this when i decided to get Quicktime player pro which i have paid for and have the key..I have tried to download quicktime from apple support website and just about any other website for that matter but zero.zilch.Installer takes me through the process but i get no player.
I have tried to remove all components of quicktime but to no avail.the download intalls but goes nowhere.Have tried to maybe 'jumpstart' it by double clicking quicktime time movies but there is just nothing going on.

Before the most recent update, hitting the green button on iTunes would make it tiny in the corner, now you have to hit apple-shift-M. I find this annoying, is there any way to go back to just hitting the green button?
I got my new 13" MBP two weeks ago and I've been using the F8 button solely for playing and pausing songs in iTunes. I think it's great to have this because I can easily stop my music when I want to watch a youtube video and the audio is coming from somewhere else and not iTunes for example The problem is, whenever I press the F8 button now, it stops the song in iTunes but it starts playing a video in VLC...I checked both system preferences and VLC preferences but couldn't find anywhere to control what the F8 button controls.
I have an iMac Intel Core 2 Duo (24inch). on 10.4.11 Is there anyway of going back to how it was running 24hrs ago? Then everything was fine (as always) but i decided to hook up my unlocked 1st gen iphone to OS3. Last night the imac seemed fine and this morning all seemed well. I came home from work and tonight and it seemed to be lagging slow so i though i'd do a restart. It wouldn't do it so I turned it off via the on/off button. On restart it went straight to iphoto which gave a command to update iphoto to make the thumpnails of better quality. I asked i not to bother just now, but on looking at iphoto i noticed that none of my photos were present. I tried to shut iphoto down, it wouldn't. I tried to open safari anf after some time it fired up only to shut down unexpectidly. Now all apps hang. It seem that i've lost all my photos somewhere and possibly all my music. I can only think this is associated with the iphone update last night. Is there any way of goping back 24 hrs or can u offer any other assistance please. It may only be an apple thing as firefox is responsive
I've reloaded OS9 on my G3 400 iMac, with the intention of bringing it back up to 10.3 after a 7 pass HD clean. Last night I downloaded the firmware upgrade on my current iMac and transferred it via USB flash pen, but it's unable to read it, presumably as it was written with an Intel OS and it appears with a PC icon. I don't know if downloading it via the original iMac would make any difference. However, as it can only has dialup internet access, that's out of the question with my broadband connection.
While I'm at it, I may a well ask, what is the fastest way to get to 10.3 Panther? I've seen another site, but can't locate it again, where it said 9.1 would have to be installed before then installing 10.2 Jaguar. Is this correct?
Anyone have a problem playing wmv files using flip4mac on quicktime x. Ever since I installed SL, I'm having problems fast forwarding and rewinding in flip4mac. Anyone else have this problem or workaround?
The play/pause and skip/rewind buttons on my keyboard are not working with the latest version of iTunes (11.3.1). I've read about fixes related to the Google Chrome extension, but I don't have that extension. I noticed that the buttons work with Spotify but not with iTunes. When I test the buttons on iTunes, I make sure that Spotify is completely closed. The play/pause function is especially important to me, as I use it to transcribe interviews quickly.

When I try to run an app which requires Rosetta, the install Rosetta dialog box appears which is fine. However, the cursor automatically actually moves to the dialog box and positions itself right above the Install button. It doesn't actually click it but it kinda freaked me out to see it happen.
Since before the Magic Mouse update, I cannot install any new updates anymore. Software Update finds and downloads the updates just fine but when I click on the "Install" button, it greys out for a few seconds and then nothing happens, i.e. the install process is never triggered. The same thing happened for the Magic Mouse update, iTunes 9.0.2 and the latest Parallels update. When I wanted to create a new account to see if the same thing happens there, System Preferences wouldn't let me authenticate. When I clicked the lock symbol, nothing happened. I also repaired disk in Disk Utility and although errors were reported and repaired, it hasn't changed anything. Downloading the updates from Apple's website produces the same results, the "Install" button is unresponsive. I'm pretty much out of ideas here as I can't even log in as a different user. I'm on a mid-2007 MBP running 10.6.1.
My Macbook's dvd player will not play movies or run install cd's. It was perfectly fine when I bought it and then had to reinstall the OS and software and now it doesn't work. The cd player works, it can burn cd's, read cd's etc. Just DVD Player gone missing.

When I open sys. prefs. the cd/dvd player icon is gone. I have a dvd player in my apps. folder but no cd player. When i open the cd/dvd slot tray and put a cd installer cd in it; it will close and after aboutr 5-10 seconds it will open back up. i can't install anything. I have used " find; spotlight; time machine" ; etc. but I don't find a cd player or a cd/dvd player icon to restore.
I would like to install a game for windows on my recently new iMac. And I know how to boot windows and everything from experience with my macbook, but my problem is basically this; When I try to install multi-disc games on the windows OS, whenever I get to the point where I am supposed to "insert disc 2" the eject button on my keyboard will not work, is there any workaround for this, I am running XP... (and leopard on my iMac).
Prosessor 2,53 GHz Intel Core i5 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50) This machine is not willing to install Flash player. Have tried to follow instructions on Adobe forums, tried to remove flash, tried to install flash, but no luck.I only get the message flash player will not install...
I have installed the latest OS update and Safari update, as of 13th May 2012. Flash player will not install.I select the yellow download control from the Adobe site, a grey screen is displayed and nothing happens. There is no record of the application downloading. Under System Prefeences there is not Flash Player icon.
I uninstalled FP a few weeks ago because it was crashing Safari 5.0.6 on a regular basis. This morning, I ran the flashback security update sent out by apple a couple of days ago. I decided to see if that update might reduce the flash crashes with Safari + Flash Player, so I have been trying for hours to install FP 10.3. I go to the correct Adobe page and follow the instructions. Nothing happens. The tiny spinning wheel in the internet address line does not stop spinning, even after 30 minutes. I have thoroughly reviewed the adobe pages dealing with installation problems to no avail. Â
I took my Macbook Pro into the store and they had to delete everything and then reinstall the OS and all my data. I have not had any problems redownloading various applications, but no matter what I do, I cannot install Flashplayer. I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, opening the installer directly from the package, etc. There is no version of flash currently on my computer, but still, I cannot download and install it (even an older version).
where does adobe flash player install? I know it is a plugin, but I do not always want to open a browser to view flash material, I want to link up a flash document on a teaching CD so that it will start when I click on the link.
i had flash player 9 on my mac os x 10.2.8 then for some reason its gone and i cant play videos.i tried reinstalling it but im only getting the file not the pkg.
Adobe Flash installer completes successfully, but web sites requiring Flash still say that I need to install Flash. None of the relevant files are present, and the Adobe diagnostic page shows only empty boxes where the Flash version should be listed. This problem occurs with Safari 5.1.4 and 5.1.5 running on Mac OS 10.6.8?
I've tried everything to get this thing to install, but after downloading nothing happens. I have no flash player on my Mac. I've spent hours trying to follow Adobe instructions, but I'm just going around in circles.
