I currently own a Macbook Pro (pre unibody 17") 2.6 ghz, 4 gb ram, with a 2 tb western digital premium edition II external hard drive for my audio files. (mostly .mp3 <few aac>) and a 1 tb western digital studio edition external with my music videos. These are filled 1.1 tb and approx 800 gb respectively. I am currently using a program called Serato with its VSL plug in.
here are the links if anyone knows how to use them or wants to try and learn them with me,
Not sure that this is a Snow Leopard issue, since I never tried this with earlier OS versions but here goes. OS10.6.1, MacBook Pro. Wanted to duplicate a DVD - not a commercial one but one made by my community organization who had told me it was not blocked in any way and I could copy it. Used " Get Info " to find size, which showed as 1.39 GB, and knew from watching the disc that it ran about 30 minutes.
Bought some Memorex discs at OfficeMax rated " 4.75 GB data, 120 Minutes Video 1-16x speed ". Opened Disc Utility and followed the instructions, selecting " Read only ". When I was asked , I inserted a blank disc but got a message saying the disc did not have enough space. So, I re-did everything but selected " Compressed" instead of " Read only", but again got the message that the disc I inserted didn't have enough space to copy what I wanted. Tried a different blank disc from the pack I had bought, same result.
Coming from Windows land, this sounds so dumb. How do I copy an audio CD to a blank CD-R (or CD-RW) on the Mac (OS X 10.4.1)?
I tried using Disk Utility to first create an image of the original on the hard disk and then used the burn option to burn the image to a blank CD - now I have a coaster with 17MB of unreadable data (instead of 500MB)!
I don't like the idea of ripping the CD with iTunes and burning the tracks back (I prefer to have the same quality as the original).
Is this even possible with an application that comes with the base OS in OS X 10.4 (without additional third party apps)?
I know I should know how to do this and probably have done it in the past; however, I can't recall how. I want to duplicate an open window, not just a new one.
I am new to Itunes and imported several music files. Probably something I did but several files are dups. Is there a way to globally delete these or do you have to individually delete them?
I've been having problems with Logic Pro ever since the 10.5.2 update (and other updates that appeared at the same time). Some folks on the Apple discussion forums thought that font issues may be to blame. Most, however, still have problems after resolving their font problems. I went into Font Book anyway to see if there was anything I could clean up. I've already done the "resolve duplicates" thing with fonts that had the dot by their name. This time, I selected all fonts and validated them. I ended up with 42 'minor problems'.
After going through each one to see what the problem is, they all said it was a duplicate font issue. Now, I'm not the type to go deleting fonts willie-nillie. When I went back into Font Book, each of the problem fonts did indeed have duplicates when I folded down the little triangle guy. All of the duplicates were grayed out with the word OFF next to them. Should I delete these guys that are already off and disabled? Would that actually have any benefit, or is the fact that Font Book turn them OFF the proper solution?
I am getting duplicate emails in Entourage. A few times a week, I get old emails (sometimes from a month ago) in my InBox. What do I need to do to stop this?
the tried and true method of duplicating my personal DVDs for backup purposes respectively ? What are the software suggestions and a step by step process for dubbing on a blank DVD.
Came across one a while back, finds duplicate files on a Mac, was sure I bookmarked it but no joy in there. Anyone know what it was called, or a link would be even better?
I am getting duplicate bookmarks of the same site in my safari side bar. can anybody suggest what is going wrong here, using Lion and latest safari on MacBook Pro
Info: iPad Wi-Fi + 4G, iOS 5.1, Australian 4G new iPad no good
I have created a FCPX project with a frame rate that does not work well with the frame rate in the events I have taken clips from. I see that I cannot change the frame rate in this project. Can I copy the events on the timeline in this project to a new one with the correct frame rate?
I recently imported all of my unorganized picture folder mess into iPhoto in an effort to organize them. However, when importing my pictures from my camera in the past, I would upload the same picture multiple times. I didnt bother to fix it at the time, but now that its all there in iPhoto, its pretty annoying, especially with the couple thousand pictures i have on it. Is there a way (automater?) that I can find these duplicate files and delete the copies of them? A program to do this or something would be a godsend.
My OS 10.6.1 started to show duplicate mail messages (Exchange mail account). Also, the "SENT" ( Exchange account folder) is empty in spite of many sent emails!
I have dropbox, and want my "permanent folders" folder (which I have on my desktop) to be permanently mirrored to my dropbox folder. I know how to make a folder alias, but that's not quite the same thing. How can I do this?
I am stuck with a problem. The problem is that I have two folders. What i'd like is that when I place an item in the main folder it automatically duplicates in the second folder thus keeping both folders in sync.
The folders are in seprate locations within the system. Is this possible? Maybe an Automator action?
I am pretty new here, only posted a few times here and there. I am also a brand spanken new Apple user with the new iMac 2.1GHz machines. When I got my iMac, I wanted to port everything my Dell, to my iMac. This was great and all, and mostly worked, though I ended up duplicating about 400 songs, about 4 times each. Is there some type of feature or something I can do with automator that would get rid of my duplicate songs?
I somehow lost half my photo album and eventually searched spotlight with 'jpeg and jpg'. This not only found them, it found literally thousands more, many of them duplicates. Does anyone know if there is an easy way to restore the missing Photos. My idea is to import the lot, and then hopefully try and remove all duplicates like itunes does.
My notes get synced to an email address. So i click the notes icon in mail, not the email inbox they are associated with and i see every single not ever created. On top of that there are two instances of each note. So i deleted the ones i don't need anymore and closed my notebook, went on my way. come home. open mail. clicknotes, and they are all still there. two of each notes, includeing notes i've never written anything in. ones that i just clicked not was about to write something, and didn't save it. How do i get rid of this stuff?
So I re-ripped some episodes that I now need to re-tag. I have lower quality files already tagged, but alas, I've scoured the internet and haven't come up with any resources to automate this. I can use Lostify to "lock" the fields but still have to manually enter the title, episode ID and such, and copy and paste the description.
In my dreams, I envision an application with two drop-zones that would duplicate the metadata from one file to another. I do this sort of thing often enough to really need it. I've looked at the command-line tools for Atomic Parsley and MP4Tags (which is awesome and if built from source can now successfully edit the CNID and HD tags resulting in the dual-format HD-SD files you see on iTunes) but have no "copy" function.
I recently purchased a macbook pro after using PC for many years. All my pictures are on the iphoto application.
What I've noticed is that if I go to the All Images folder in Finder, I can see that I have duplicate pictures and all have different sizes. What I want to know if I delete them, would I delete the ones that are in iphoto?
I'm trying to release a WordPress theme on my site which I've developed on the Mac. When I sent it to my friend with a PC, he unzipped it and noticed it generated empty files based on the names of the subdirectories (see attached image). Also when you first open the .zip, there's an empty folder called __MACOSX. How to keep the whole package a little more clean?
I just noticed something while sorting photos around in some folders. I'd click one, and suddenly another picture file appears to get created right under it with the exact same filename & extension.
I tried to delete the duplicate thinking I accidentally hit "duplicate" instead of "copy" when right clicking, and the Original file was also sent to trash. I pulled it back out and it did it again. When I moved it into the subfolder, the duplicate vanished.
My sync is going wrong somewhere along the line and creating duplicate lists of some contacts to build up. I deleted them all yesterday afternoon and now have about 20 or so of some contacts. Some do not duplicate at all. I found this thread over at apple [URL] but as my mobile me account contains the duplicates as well cant get the workaround (deleting address book file) to work.
I noticed on both my machines after installing 10.6.2 I had a bunch of duplicate fonts (looks like most were duplicates of Microsoft Office 2008 versions).Anyway, just letting people know. I was having weird font issues in Firefox and had to basically clear my font cache, resolve duplicates and reboot to get the fonts working correctly again.I know for a fact these fonts weren't duplicated prior to 10.6.2.
