OS X :: How To Use Color Labels
Jun 19, 2009As a new Mac user, I'm not quite sure what these do, or effectively how to use them. I've noticed them in Ubuntu 9.04 too. What benefit do they offer to organization?

View 4 Replies View Relatedbefore switching to Mac, I used an "X-Rite Eye One Display 2" color meter device with software. You can find them most places like Amazon for about $150. The device should still work, but I can't find any software for it for the Mac. After going to the X-Rite web site, I could find no software at all for the Mac as it is only windows based.
Surely someone out there has used a color meter such as this one as they are quite popular especially for graphics artists that use professional graphic monitors. I am hoping someone can tell me how to use my color meter (USB), what software for Mac Leopard I need and how to save the color profile in the Mac OS.
I have an 09 Mac Pro Nehalem, with nvida gt120 graphics card running 10.6.2 with the latest mac pro 1.4 efi and two 23 inch Apple cinema displays (the older DVI kind)
I go into system preferences>displays>color and try to adjust color on my monitors but selecting different color settings on either monitor only affects ONE monitor, the other monitor is essentially stuck at whatever color setting it is set to.
When starting the iMac in the mornings, the upper strip of the desktop appears in the screen color instead of white. What could this be?

i really want to customize my macbook. i want to change the color logo to apple classic color. (but not for a while) the main thing i want to do is something like this [URL] the second picture to last. the guy with a suit and a hat, being covered with the apple logo. i want something like that, only not that image. you get the idea though. where can i get something like this? are they stickers as well? or are they laser engraved? i do not want it permanent on my macbook, since i get easily bored with the same look

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have encountered a problem when printing labels. On my PC it is possible to use all the labels on an A4 sheet, because you can select which labels are still available from a part used sheet. On the iMac it always wants to start from the top of the page even when there are no labels there. I find it very wasteful to throw away part used sheets of labels. Maybe I am missing some vital information, because I don't believe a mac can't do what a PC does, in all other aspects a Mac wins hands down. I would appreciate any solutions to this problem as I have only had the iMac eight months and still learning, and I would prefer not to have to use my PC if avoidable
View 7 Replies View RelatedOne thing I miss from Windows is the ability to glance at the task bar on the bottom and read truncated title descriptors on the task bar buttons of each open window. It's a way of knowing and locating what (and where) each window is by just looking, without having to do anything -- like mouse over an icon, or clicking, or using Expose.
Is there anything I can do to make all open windows have titles or descriptors -- whether it's a file name, or Safari window name, etc. -- in Mac OS? Is there any third party utility app?
I find Snow Leopard to be more application centric, rather than window centric.

Kind of disappointed that this program can't do this basic feature. Is it possible to make labels with Pages?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have labels sheets (Avery) that I want to print on.
In Word, i just choose File, New, Labels, and am given a choice of label types. I fill in the tabs and job done.
Does anyone know how to do this in Pages? I know how to create a table, but, isn't there an easier way to do this?
Plus, can I edit the current business cards template so that I can use it to create the labels?
Currently, I am using Pages for all my word processing stuff, with the exception of printing labels and envelopes.
I am completely new to the Mac universe but am planning on getting one whenever the next refresh comes out. My question is, is this an indicator that the new ones are coming soon or is this just something apple does after x months of a product being available.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running 5.1.5 in Lion. When I click the "Print Label" button to ship a package on UPS as I've done for years, the button links to a UPS "Page Not Found" page. I'm not running in private mode or using the pop-up blocker, so I don't know what's going on. The button works just fine in Chrome. Haven't tried other browsers.

I'm using Classic Layout in Mail.app - in the message list the column "Flag" shows all flags/labels as text, i.e. instead of an orange flag icon it shows "Orange". This is rather strange and uses too much space in the list - is there a way to change to icon view? In Mavericks it shows a coloured flag icon.
I tried to find a menu command or Mail.app preference to change this, but couldn't find one. Not sure but I think in OS X 10.10.0 Mail.app showed flag icons; I have OS X 10.10.1 installed.

Replacing labels with tags is not at all useful particularly for the large market segment of over 50's audience. Those small coloured dots do not work for me distinguish events in my different calendars. Can MAC please bring back labels so that we ca see all our appointments as it was below.

how to create and print mailing Labels with NeoOffice.
Simple Steps.
I use Avery 8162 Label Sheets.
After many years using Microsoft Office, I find their instructions.
I was just playing around with my icons on the desktop, but at their largest possible size, I can't get the drive information (by checking "Show Item Info" in the View Options window) to fit if the labels are set to show on the bottom of the icons. It truncates it, annoying where it's display remaining space, which is exactly the wrong place. It works if I put the labels on the right side, but then I can't see the icons when I have my applications positioned where I usually do (a minor issue perhaps, but I prefer to see the icons I've created instead of the text name of the drive). Does anyone know if it's possible to set the icon labels to show up to the left of the icon? That would nicely solve both issues, but it's not an included option. Seems like it would be incredibly logical.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to get rid of the pop-up labels which appear when you mouse over dock icons. I've routed around in the dock plist, and found that I can achieve this for items that are permanently in my dock by just blanking their 'file-label' string in the dock plist, but was wondering if there is a way to do this for all items in the dock?
I've tried adding every logical 'key' to the plist file, I can think of, with a false boolean value, but to no luck. I'm pretty new to OS X.

Ever since updating to Yosemite, I have noticed an odd behavior from the menu bar. When I switch between apps, the menu bar doesn't always change. Like right now, the menu bar says "System Preferences..." and shows all the menus for System Preferences, but when I select a menu, the proper one drops down. how I can get my menu bar to display the proper menus?
