how do you convert the video file that screen flow produces to a usable format? is there some software or something? and dont say put it in imovie because you cant put that format into imovie.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a number of files that are .avi, .xvid, and mp4 that I would like to convert to dvd format, not just burn it to a disk, but burn it to a dvd-r that will play in my dvd player rather than my computer. Does anyone know of any software that can do this that is easy to use and either free or inexpensive? I have tried ffmpegx (way to complicated for me!), the trial of aimersoft - couldn't get it to convert anything, and toast. (With that I tried to burn someone that was already in dvd format but it turned it into mp4...) I have only had a mac for about three months, so I am not terribly familiar with it's workings yet... I am on OS X 10.6.5 Snow leopard I think?

Problem is, I couldn't figure out how to do this in iPhoto. Luckily, I realized that I could do this easily in a program called OpenOffice.org Draw. However, I can't post it to Facebook (I'm assuming because Facebook doesn't recognize an .odg file as a picture). My question is, is there any way to convert this type of file into a picture type that I could load onto Facebook? I've seen some converters online but couldn't find any that are Mac compatible.

I have tried using MPEG Streamclip on my Windows machine to convert it to an .mp4 file, but that just gave me an audio file with no video. I then tried using Handbreak on my Windows 7 machine to do the same thing, but the resulting file was not even recognized by Final Cut Pro X.

I want to know if there is way to take Video TS files and convert them straight into a .DV file so they can be edited in iMovie.
My situation is that I use a program like Mac the Ripper to extract a DVD into the Audio and Video TS folders. My step 2 is to use Handbrake to convert it to MPEG and then MPEG-Streamclip to convert it to .DV
The problem I am having is that while this process works, the final product video quality is slightly off. I know that the loss is either in Handbrake or the MPEG-Streamclip program. How can I go straight to DV, either through a program or straight from the DVD?
I have a couple of .flv video files and I was wondering how I can convert those to .mpg or any other movie file.

Some of which I would like to be able to burn to a DVD for personal use or to give to family and friends. My problem comes when trying to burn a certain video file formats to a DVD, one especially that will playback on a standard DVD player. The types of files I am interested in converting to DVD-playable are: .m2ts, .avi, .mp4, .mpeg, .mkv. Again, I would like to convert these movies, then burn them to a DVD to easily watch them on my home theater system's DVD player. When in Cover Flow view in Finder, try renaming a file when the thumbnails are being generated. It'll highlight the file name, then unselect it. Only way to successfully rename something is to wait till all the thumbnails are generated.

I tried out the program named switch but I was unable to make that work (I was only using the trial version anyway. I did see the thread that was started in Nov 06 but it seems to be a little too old for discussion sakes. I was also hopping for new information/evolution of programs and freeware. I will try what it says about switch but I doubt it will work.
If you have any other programs, I would love to hear about them. (just as a side note, the WMA files could be protected. I don't know if they are and I dont know how to know if they are or are not. I read on the switch application page that it supports the decoded version of WMA thus that might be the reason it doesn't work).
Anyone know of a free or cheap way to do this? All the converters that I see from a google search are for Windows.

Have noticed that when in iTunes and selecting full screen cover flow mode that when the screen fades in to the full screen view instead of it being a smooth fade there is a flicker. Screenshot below shows what I mean by the flicker. Anyone have any idea why this is happening. Don't think it has done this before only just started doing it, probably since iTunes 7.6
