MyProgram with arguments:date
I can get date to give me the seconds since the Unix epoch with the %M specifier.
I'm looking to pull the trigger on a macAir I would use it for travel, writing and viewing QT files.
I currently have the 17" and of course the screen resolution is very nice- but it a bit of beast to lug about.
I'm using the command "touch" in the terminal to set the creation date of some old home movies I'm dumping on HD.
I can move the creation date back with the following command:
MacPro:~ scott$ touch -t 200308311500 /Users/scott/Desktop/2-month-bath.mov
The problem now, I cannot move the date back up (when I fat finger)... EVEN if I move the modified date way in the future, the creation date won't move back up with it... Give the command a try on a garbage file and see what I mean.
I've been trying to install some software, however, every time I try to do the "make" command on a Makefile, I get the following error: -bash: make: command not found. The manual page does not exists either. I have no idea why the "make" command doesn't exists. I might have added a missing command in the past, but I don't remember. I'm running Mac OS X 10.5.7. Can anyone guess what the problem is?

Has anyone been able to get a Higher resolution on their MacBook Pro 13" I know switcher res x works but have not been able to find a working resolution. Im looking for something slightly larger then 1280x800 1400x900 would be awesome or 1376x8XXX if anyone knows of a resolution that works?
View 19 Replies View RelatedI just installed the 10.7.3? My "old" MacBook is a late 2008, 2.4Mhz, 8GbRAM. After instaling the new Lion, my 2nd monitor stopped working, so, before rushing after hardware problems, I connected it to my new MB (Pro 15" early 2011, 2.2Mhz, 16GbRAM) and it worked normally. So, back to the old one, I tried many drivers, etcs... after some time, I noted that the external monitor flicked many times with the "normal" image and turned black... I changed the 2nd monitor's resolution and it worked stable, so, now I can only use 1280X1024 instead of 1680X1050...

Just got my mini displayport to hdmi converter. So i hooked up my Samsung P2470 to my macbook pro 13" 2010, but i can't put the resolution of the samsumg any higher than 1600 x 900. How can i crank it up to the full hd resolution?(which the monitor supports).
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter booting to windows xp pro(sp2) via bootcamp the resolution setting slide bar on Nvidia control panel lets me adjust to a higher rez, but does not change the resolution physically at all. I do get the windows "keep this setting" pop up..I choose yes to humor it, but nothing changed in the first place.Other than this glitch, windows works fine. I can set the resolution to 1900 x 1200 for gaming inside the game's application but this huge 640 x 480 is hard to deal with on my 2.93GHz 17" unibody macbook pro display.

It has 2 GB Ram in it right now, and it is the 2.4 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 250 GB Hard Drive. Also I am trying to download apple wallpapers for it, but when I set it as my wallpaper it doesn't look as clear on my background as it does in the preview, even when I copy and set the one with higher resolution. I must be doing something wrong, if you don't mind could someone take me through the steps of how to properly download and apply wallpapers, as your background?

I mean I can play 1080p video on a 13 inch MBP and it still looks good. Why do people complain so much about how intolerable the low screen resolution is on the MBPs. Apple must have some kind of magic because images and video look great to me. Take a 13 inch MBP, would the same 1440x900 sized picture look that much better if the native resolution was 1440x900? If the quality loss is so noticeable how has Apple been able to get away with shipping the product?

My vga connection maxes out at 1024X768 on a 26in TV!! Would I get a higher resolution with an HDMI connection?
The VGA response rate is already a little slow. How will that affect movies and the like with HDMI in the event I can push a higher resolution.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI downloaded GTA San Andreas from the App Store. The game works fine. Only thing is I cannot seem to get the resolution to go higher than 800 x 600 x 32. Is there a reason for this? I am using a fairly new Macbook Pro with OS X Lion 10.7.3. with a 2.66Ghz Intel Core i7 processor. 8 GB ram. I am also using the higher resolution screen 1680 x 1050. However, when I go to the advanced game settings I cannot seem to make any changes to the resolution?

View 24 Replies View RelatedIs there a command to clear the terminal screen that works like 'cls' on Windows? I know about 'clear', but clear just moves the prompt on the top of the screen, leaving the previous output visible if I scroll up.
A friend suggested 'clear_console' (I think he's on debian) but I can't find it on OS X or MacPorts.
I want to build a redboot kernel in a wireless router, the command required from my newly acquired knowledge is insmod and modprobe.
However from the mac 10.5.8 terminal it says that the command is not found. I have installed gcc , sdk compiler support and enabled the super user as well.
Seems like a simple thing to do, yet I've searched and not found an answer.

I want to run some terminal commands fairly often... yet I don't want to have to type them. I just switched from windows, so I need some help as to how to do this.
In windows I would've just used a batch file to run command prompt commands. I need something that will let me just run it and it will automatically run the commands.

I can use the Control>C command to quit that and return to normal. But it's a waste of time and I can't seem to figure it out. A Genius Bar Genius said to Archive and Install, but I don't think it's necessary. I just want to know how I can find whatever it is that's screwing it up.
I can't seem to run a sudo command in the OS X terminal. Every time I run a sudo command, I get no response, as if the command is not run at all. My sudo appears to be broken somehow. I've got a problem with mounting an NTFS drive that is dirty. I have a command I am trying to run using the "sudo" command, but it is not working.
Code: sudo /usr/local/bin/ntfs-3g /dev/disk0s3 /Volumes/WIN XP -o force
After the sudo, I am prompted for my password, but after that the only response I get is another prompt, as if the command was totally ignored. I have tried many different commands after the sudo, and cannot get a response from anything. I even tried "sudo tcsh", which should open up a new shell, but nothing. "sudo ls" also shows nothing, just another prompt.
What is the best way to run a terminal command when logging in? And by �best� I mean �fastest.� I�ve been encapsulating my commands in an Applescript, but it�s terribly slow to load, and I�m hoping there�s some UNIX back-end I can use to speed things up.
Specifically, I want to run a shell script that I wrote. It decrypts some folders inside my Home directory so I can use them (this part works seamlessly, I just need it to auto-run itself).
You'd think this was all pretty basic. It probably is.
I'm trying to open/edit '/usr/local/php5/lib/php.ini' with TextWrangler through Terminal. The TextWrangler part isn't an absolute requirement. The directory exists and I'm assuming the file does as well. (No 404-esq errors during my fumblings and it was a standard installation of PHP5)
Also, is there any way to browse through the above directory using the Finder's GUI? That would be nice.
I need to erase a disk I bought with NO formatting. I shouldn't have initialized it when I connected it, and now I need to erase it but do NOT want to format it.

Like the diskutil eraseDisk instructions tell me to, but it won't take.
