MacBook Pro :: Unable To Connect To WPA-PSK Wireless / Safari Not Connecting To Network

Jan 11, 2007

Airport sucks. A lot. It works just fine in WEP or unprotected networks, but WPA-PSK it doesn't do a damn thing. It shows it as connected with a full signal, but Safari, iChat, etc... won't connect to the internet. For some reason Azureus works, but it's going at an amazing 146 bytes/sec and then back down to 0. What's going on here guys? This is my first Mac and I am sorely disappointed in Airport.

OS X :: Unable To Connecting To Internet?

Aug 8, 2009

I'm an iBook G4 user. I've had my computer for about 4 years and never had any problems, but in the past two weeks, I've been experiencing a lot of difficulty with my internet.

The problem's got to be with airport, because I'm connected right now with an ethernet cable and am having no issues.

Using my airport, I can still usually connect to the internet-- in fact, when I first connect to a wireless network, I have strong signal strength-- but I lose my internet connection after just a few minutes.

When I click on "Open internet connect," I can often reconnect to the network, but then I get the error message "out of range of network" and am booted off again.

This has happened to me on two separate internet networks-- both in my home and at the library-- so I think the problem is with my computer, not the signal.

There's not any physical object blocking the signal as far as I can see, and I've been able to use this wireless network in the past without any problems. (It's my partner's network and is and password protected, so it's not like I'm stealing it from someone next door or something.)

I'm running Mac OS X.

I've looked at getting airport express, but I don't want to pay money for something that may or may not fix the problem.

OS X :: Unable To Connect To Network / Modem And Router Are Not Connecting

Jan 1, 2011

My friend bought a new netgear router today. He plugged it in and was ready to get on the internet. The problem is, he can't get on the internet. He is able to connect to the router though. We also tried unplugging the router from the modem and plugging the ethernet straight into his Macbook Pro. From there the internet works perfectly. It is like the modem and the router are not connecting.

OS X :: Unable To Restore Resolution To Original / Connecting To HDTV Via Vga Cable

Feb 15, 2010

When I plug my MacBook into my tv with a VGA cable, the resolution becomes significantly lower so that the windows will fit nicely on the TV screen. This is great. But when I unplug from the TV, and my resolution restores to normal, my window sizes are all messed up! For example, I normally have iTunes and iCal full-screen in dedicated spaces. Now they look like this (attached screenshots). Any way to have these windows automatically restore to their original size?

OS X :: Connecting To Vista Home Premium PC / Unable To Access Shared Files

Mar 21, 2009

I'm connecting my new Macbook Pro 15" running Snow Leopard, to my home network and of course it hooked up with my wireless router right away.

I have a NAS hard wired to a wireless router. The Mac sees all the folders and files just fine and can read/write.I have a Vista Home Premium PC hard wired to the same wireless router. The Users Folder is shared with full privileges as are the individual users folders. The firewall is off. It runs no "security software".

The Mac can see the Vista PC and also see the Users individual account folders but when I open them I can't see any of the files.I really don't know what direction to go. The Vista PC networked fine with an older Toshiba laptop that the Mac replaced.

OS X :: Connecting MacBook Pro To LCD TV

Jun 28, 2010

I'm trying to connect my MacBook Pro (just purchased this year) to my television, which is a relatively new (2-3 years old give or take) Magnavox 20" flat panel LCD TV (For reference: [URL] It can display HDTV and EDTV, and has the input for a VGA cable and standard AV & S-Video inputs, as well as a PC input with what looks like input for male DVI. All in all it looks capable of handling the MBP's input. I've tried connecting the mini DVI-VGA adapter to the VGA cable, and the macbook's screen flickers and reverts to normal (with the additional display detected and seeming to function on the mac side).

However, no image appears on my TV screen, except when I'm playing around with the resolution (at which point, an image almost comes on, briefly flickers on with a slightly off-color, then reverts back to a blank screen). At first I thought this was a resolution problem, but even at the macbook's lowest resolution, nothing came onto the screen except that flicker. Would I need a converter or something to get the image onto the screen? I was doing some research and, while my TV doesn't seem that old, I'm wondering whether it might be digital vs. analog signal or something?

MacBook :: Its Not Connecting To TV

Apr 4, 2012

I've got a Minidisplay port to DVI adaptor for my macbook to connect to my LG 27" 1080p tv. I've hooked up the cabling as simple as it comes port->adaptor->DVI cable->TV but although my macbook recognises the TV (and the model number) my tv just sits there saying "check signal cable". The TV clearly recognises that something is plugged in (evident due to the DVI input on my TV not being greyed out). Although I can't 100% confirm that the adaptor is fully functional, I'm pretty sure as a signal is clearly passing between both devices.

MacBook Pro :: Connecting To LCD Monitor And TV?

Dec 7, 2010

What cables do I need to hook my early 08 MacBook Pro up to my TV and External LCD Monitor? Here's a quick rundown of what I want hooked up. TV, MacBook Pro, and LCD Monitor.MacBook Pro - has a DVI port.TV - has a DVI port and a couple HDMI ports.LCD monitor - is VGA (currently using a VGA to DVI converter to hook up to my Mac).

From my understanding, I will need a DVI extension and a DVI Y splitter either DVI/VGA or DVI/DVI.

Does this seem right? Is their a better way to do this?

OS X :: Connecting Macbook Pro To TV And Speakers?

Feb 19, 2009

I'm a lifelong PC user who is making the switch from a PC desktop to a macbook pro. Currently I have A set of Klipsch promedia 5.1 surround sound speakers. I am also anticipating inheriting a samsung television from a friend. I would like to be able to use my current speakers and and my new t.v. with my macbook, but I've got a couple of questions here.

1) It looks like the television has a vga input on it. So I'm assuming my best bet is to get the Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter. what can I expect in terms of quality here? The television is 1080p. Will i be able to get 1080p through a vga adapter? Is there a better option out there?

2) Assuming the television did have a DVI port on it, what is the difference between the Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter and the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter?

3) I would very much like to have both the television and the macbook hooked up to the klipsch speakers. I'm assuming my best option for connecting the macbook is something like the Griffin Firewave. (Sadly it looks as if this has been discontinued.) The Television's only audio out is optical. Does anyone know of an external sound card that would allow me to connect both the macbook and the television? Or if someone has a better solution as to how to accomplish that; I'm all ears.
