View 1 RepliesRecently brought iMac in for software upgrade. now 10.10.1Â
After i got home, i realized that the iMac now always asks me to login with my password (which i do). But i would prefer not to have to login/put in password every time. just want my iMac to open as it always had.Â
I assume i go to system preferences/users & groups. i see i am the current user/administrator. When i click "change password" it says: "*** is using an iCloud password to log in and unlock the screen.
do you want to change your iCloud password or stop using your iCloud password to unlock this mac AND CREATE A SEPARATE PASSWORD?"Â
Don't want separate or any passwords. Do i just want to click the "change iCloud password" button? Ijust want to log in without a password. How do i do that?Â

Since installing Yosemite 10.10.1, every time I turn on my MacBook Pro I have to Select User and then login with my password. I don't want this, since I'm the only user and it wastes time. This didn't used to happen before installing Yosemite. I can't find the button in Security and Privacy that turns this off!

When I first setup my OSX laptop, my filevault and user login password were the same. At bootup, I only had to login once (with my username and password).I recently changed my OSX password but my filevault / disk encryption password was not changed. Now I have to login twice when I boot up (first with my old pass, then with the new one).Is there any way to change the disk encryption password so I can be in sync with my login password?I tried Disk Util > File > Change Password, but it is greyed out.

I recently changed my apple ID password and now I can't log in to the icloud system preferences on my iMac or the App Store on my iMac. Everything else is fine with the new password; icloud.com, itunes, ipad, iphone, MacBook Air. Have tried creating a new user account but get the same messages which vary from "unrecognized user or password" to "problem communicating with icloud, try again later."

In order to make my wireless internet network secure, I added a password to it today. Every other computer in the house, as well as my XBox 360, is able to connect to the internet using the password that I set up. For some reason, when I try to connect to my Macbook, it tells me that the password is wrong, yet it works with the other 3 computers in my house. What am I missing? Do I need to change my settings on Airport? My wireless router is obviously working so what do I need to do?

View 1 Replies View RelatedHi! Im new to the forums but i really need help with something and i was hoping someone here could help me out. So I just installed Tech Tool Deluxe onto my macbook and then shut it down later. I went back to use it again and when i turned it on a login screen appeared asking me to put in my password. I did that and the screen turned blue (looking like it was loading) and then went back to the login screen. Every time i put in my password it just takes me back to the login screen. I have had my mac for a while and i dont want my hardrive to get wiped out so what do i do? Thank you for looking
View 1 Replies View RelatedQuick version:
Even though I can change passwords on an account I cannot login to the account with the new passwords (or the old one). I have tried changing the passwd with both in System Prefs and using "sudo passwd" in the Terminal.
Longer Story:
I recently changed passwords on my main account (call it "acct1") using the Terminal. However I then couldn't log back in, but luckily could still surf the web with acct2 (not an admin account). I found out how to create a new admin account (call it "acct3") by removing the /var/db/.AppleSetupDone file in single user mode. That worked, but (as I said in the quick version) when I change the password for acct1 in acct3, I still can't log in to acct1.
This is very annoying. Is there any solution or do I just need to copy acct1 files to acct3 and start over? I can't go into an Apple store for at least a week since I'm traveling.
I wanted to change my wallpaper for the login screen. I already changed the wallpaper in System/Library/CoreServices/DefaultDesktop.jpg. But when I check back at my login screen, it is still the purple aurora background.
I tried repairing it using onyx through file permissions and also snow leopard disk utility repair disk. But my wallpaper still doesn't change.
I tried using Loginox last time when I just got my snow leopard, when I tried changing the wallpaper, it crashed on me and this problem arised.
my terminal program has changed itself to login but I need it to be bash. How can I change it back to bash?

I tossed all my internet pref files...still same issue...

I recently purchased a powerbook G4 running version 10.5.8. I am able to login to everything and set my username as the administrator, but I can not set a password for it, if i try to input a password or change the password I get an error message saying I have input an incorrect password. When I purchased the computer everything was blank except for the user name was set as mac user, as I said I was able to change the username but not the password.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy MB Pro has 1 user login, it's never been changed, re-created, etc.I can login to the laptop no problem, I can goto the User control panel and change the PW and it shows the single user as the admin. However I can't install software. It comes up and asks me for the password which is then rejected.Beyond reloading the OS not sure what options are. Did a permissions repair but no other luck.

So this morning I changed my OS X password and didn't write it down anywhere. It was something pretty random, and I don't know if I'd even recognize it if I thought of it. I know, I know, I'm an idiot and didn't do anything right here. I'm the only user on this computer, don't have a master password set up, and don't have my install disc for another month and a half (due to my AmeriCorps program I'm moving around a lot and didn't bring it traveling with me). Is there anything I can do short of taking it to an Apple Store?
