OS X Yosemite :: Automatically Login To IMac Without Password

Dec 5, 2014

Recently brought iMac in for software upgrade. now 10.10.1

After i got home, i realized that the iMac now always asks me to login with my password (which i do). But i would prefer not to have to login/put in password every time. just want my iMac to open as it always had.

I assume i go to system preferences/users & groups. i see i am the current user/administrator. When i click "change password" it says: "*** is using an iCloud password to log in and unlock the screen.

do you want to change your iCloud password or stop using your iCloud password to unlock this mac AND CREATE A SEPARATE PASSWORD?"

Don't want separate or any passwords. Do i just want to click the "change iCloud password" button? Ijust want to log in without a password. How do i do that?

OS X Yosemite :: Applications Restart Automatically After Crash

Dec 3, 2014

Whenever my iMac crashes (and that's been happening a little too frequently since I installed Yosemite) and I have to either restart or force-restart, every application that was open at the time automatically restarts as well. I guess some people might value this but, call me crazy, I don't. I usually have Chrome running with 3 or four windows and multiple tabs open; Mail with multiple windows open with emails I need to address; and any number of apps including Lightroom that is so processor intensive causing the startup to take a very long time. Not only that, but I use multiple desktops and when this happens EVERYTHING opens in the same desktop creating a miserable time-suck separating everything.

Is there any way to prevent this? I just want the computer to relaunch and then open whatever app I want when and where I want. Is that so wrong?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Mimicking Gmail Functionality Without Using Gmail

Apr 27, 2012

I'm trying to think of a way to mimic Gmail functionality without actually using a Google/ Gmail account. My work email account is an imap account which I would like to use on my Macbook, and also my iPad. The ideal situation would be for all of my folders, inbox, and sent emails to sync as if I were working on the same device. In other words, I would like to write an email from my iPad only to come back to my office and find a copy on my laptop. Is this possible? Is it merely a matter of adding the imap account to my iPad?

I currently have the account set up on my Macbook and iPhone. The iPhone functionality isn't great. Emails which I send from my iPhone do not appear in my sent emails on my Macbook. I'm looking to remedy this.

OS X :: How To Use GMail On Mac

Oct 24, 2010

I bought a MacBook Pro for a month ago. Generally I'm very happy with my new device, but I'm not really satisfying with the way I'm using my GMail right now. First of all, I do really like the GMail Offline feature since it speeds up the work with my inbox. Sadly it's not implemented for either Chrome or Firefox for Mac. Right now I'm using the Fluid to gives me a separate App for my GMail. But again, the Offline feature is not available. Since I further like to get a Growl-notification when receiving an email, I have installed Google Notifier. How are you people using your GMail / Google Apps on your Mac? I prefer the online webmail instead of using IMAP.

OS X :: Want To Get Mail.app And Gmail ?

Apr 4, 2010

I've exhausted the best part of my brain looking for a way to continue using my venerable Apple iBook, OS X,10.3.9, Mail 1.3.9, all of which I still revere. It works fine for me, I'm mostly an email kind of guy who works off his lap while gmail labors in the background. When things were harmonious, Mail and gmail worked well together. For the past 10 days, Mail has neither sent nor received a single piece of mail. (Happily, I'm not totally dead, gmail has been solid as a rock. To remedy Mail's failure, I need Google's configuration instructions to start looking for errors in my settings. I'm an inveterate tweaker, and I'm sure I tweaked something when I should have baked a cake.

Well meaning friends have repeatedly referred me to Google's web site where the elusive "configuration instructions" for Mail.app can be found and I must repeatedly tell them that the instructions at the web site are for Mail 3.0 and up. Remember, I need the settings for Mail 1.3.9! I should state now, I have no interest in IMAP, I use POP exclusively. Be there someone.

OS X :: Gmail Not Getting New Messages?

Nov 9, 2010

So I have gmail set up on MBP 13". For some reason it keeps loading my sent items and storing them in a folder called "Recovered Messages" and it is constantly reloading this folder with items that were sent back from Oct 29th specifically one item that I keep trying to move to the trash, but it keeps trying to move it back to the recovered folder? This is screwing everything up and is not allowing any messages to be brought into the inbox, I may have screwed something up because now I can not get any new messages and am not alerted to new messages with the postage stamp icon!

So is there a way to start over from scratch? Basically just wipe out the gmail account and re-setup what I have? I can login to it using Safari and everything is fine, but that just seems like a waste when I could one-click the postage stamp and have instant access to my email. I have searched and searched and could not find anything specifically for this problem and even tried gmails website to no avail.

OS X :: Sign Out Of Gmail On Mac?

Apr 2, 2010

I usually use safari...not sure if that means anything or not. Anyway, on my mac, when I want to reply to ads in craigslist, it automatically set up a connection to my gmail account which is fine. Heres the problem: i cant log off or get out. I can close it, but when i click on the stamp icon in on the mac desktop it pops up with all my emails right there--even after i "quit" mail. Then I shut down the comp and turned it back on and theres all my emails still--dont have to sign in or anything. I even tried deleting the password from the setup options. So how do I log off or out so that anyone just cant sit down and pull up my emails?

When i first set up my gmail account with the standard email that comes on the Mac i didnt have any problems, as of this morning everything was working fine, now i am not receiving any emails. I have to physically go to gmail.com to get my email. I have tried to take me account offline and then put it online again, i just dont know how to fix it.

There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account "Gmail" or try again.
