View 4 Replies View Relatedwhy the iphoto library file size in the finder appears to be a certain size, while iphoto itself reports a very different size. Is there any way to recover any disk space or reconcile the numbers here? Please see the attachments below, it may make a bit more sense that way. I would like to recover the disk space and if it really is a 16gb difference somewhere.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI dragged a folder from an external hard drive into iTunes containing the songs I want on my new MacBook.
But, for some reason the file size shown in iTunes is 47.66GB whereas Finder says my iTunes Music folder is 50.38GB
I purchased Xslimmer recently, and I've just notice a big issue. In Xslimmer, it says the current size of the app is say 20 mb, but Finder says it is 50 mb. Same thing after I slim it. I checked on a different computer, and it said the same thing. Could someone check the filesize of Mail.app in Finder (mine was 77.4 mb), and the current size in XSlimmer (said it was 25.5mb).
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy elderly uncle gave me his Macbook Pro when he bought another 'puter. As his eyes aren't what they used to be, the menu bar and any text are HUGE!!
How do I change this to a smaller size?I just can't figure out how to change it!
I don't want to change the screen resolution, I know how to zoom, I just can't read the tiny font on my giant screen in the menu bars!

The menu bar at the top of the screen is so tiny it is barely readable. Can the size be changed?

I am getting on in years and it is harder to read the text in the menu bar. Is it possible to change the size of the text in the menu bar ?
View 2 Replies View Relateddone some searching and looked at the sticky but I'm still undecided about what size to get. I had originally decided on a 17inch MBP but now I'm leaning towards getting a smaller MBP and a new iMac. I'm not looking top of the line but I would like to be able to play WOW on occasion and do some on the road photo stuff (but nothing to the level of pixel peeping). I'm looking at the faster of the 2 13 inch MBP variations versus a 15 inch with the same basic specs. What I'm worried about is the 13 inch having enough horsepower to do the simple photo and games that I'd like it to do.
Right now I have basically the same setup that I'm looking at doing again. A 20 inch iMac G5 and 12.1 inch iBook G4 both bought last half of 2005 (just after the iBook was updated - remember my order was delayed waiting on the new specs). The iMac can run WOW fairly well BTW, just lag evident in the trade district in SW.
TIA and hopefully this isn't too redundant with other questions.
I just fired up an older mac g4 for the first time in over a year with a different monitor then I had before. The problem is that when booted up I cant see the dock or the menu bar at the top on the monitor. my finder window opens but I cant open any apps. Or if I do they don't show in the monitor. I have tried several diff monitors, same story.

I can still move the mouse.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to only hide the menu bar, but keep the dock unhidden? I tried Menu Magic, but it hides both. Menu Eclipse can a put a black bar on top of it, but you can't maximize windows to fill up the space it takes up.
Basically I want a "Turn Hiding On" feature for the menu bar.
My dock and menu disappear only when I am using Safari. They re-appear when I hover my mouse at the location that they should be at, but for some reason their default positions are to be hidden. The dock and menu are present for all other apps and when I'm on the desktop--basically whenever Safari isn't "chosen" as the active window. I have checked to make sure that Safari is NOT in Full Screen mode.

Is is possible to enlarge the text in the headings in the Desktop menu bar or use large icons, I can't find it mentioned in the 'System Preferences'.Â
Also my magic mouse will not zoom when holding down the control key and scrolling with one finger as per the booklet that came with the iMac. .

I was playing about with my settings just now, and I noticed that the Dock size slider was disabled. I tried clicking on it, and my dock got smaller. I tried again, and it kept getting smaller and smaller, even when I clicked on the large end!
I've tried restarting repairing permission, but the control is still disabled, and my Dock is still ridiculously small! What can I do?
My Dock changes size on it's own.
Not a big change, just a little twitch, normally shortly after restart/login.

Any ideas why this is happening?
Why are Apple applications are so much larger than similar Microsoft applications. Some examples: Word -12.7 MB and Pages - 273.4 MB: Excel - 11.7 MB and Numbers - 138.6 MB. Both Word and Excel are sophisticated programs and I would have assumed they would be large, and that since Pages and Numbers are relatively new so they would be lean, but the opposite seems to be the case. They all work well except Numbers is slow. Is that a function of size? Is obesity epidemic in programming as well as programmers?
View 7 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to reduce the size of icons, in a folder's panel shown in the Dock? What I mean is this: The icons in the Dock itself are okay, but when I click on the Apps folder which is standing in the Dock, its content is shown as a huge panel of large icons. The icon size is exagerated to my taste. I didn't found any options about this, in the Dock preferences control panel. Can we change the icon size there?
