OS X :: Why Does ITunes Sort TV Shows - Is It Normal
Sep 19, 2009I love iTunes, but why does it sort TV shows so bizarrely? Instead of putting my seasons of House like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 it does 1, 2, 5, 4, 3.
How do I get it to sort them normally?

Mar 8, 2009I've recently decided its time to sort all my tv shows into iTunes so that I can access them easily in FrontRow. I've imported two seasons of a tv show and all the episodes are named correctly, numbered right, season info set up right etc. If I click the "TV Shows" section in iTunes I get two entries for my show, one for Season 1, one for Season 2. If I use Front Row, it simply gives me two entries for the tv show but I don't know what season it is until I click through. Surely there must be a way to have TV Shows -> Series -> Season? Otherwise this whole TV Shows thing will be useless to me since I'll end up having to scroll through loads of seasons for all my shows in one place on Front Row i.e. if I put all of my seasons of Enterprise and Stargate SG-1 then Front Row would show this under the TV Shows option:

Dec 1, 2014Tracks show in the wrong sequence in iTunes and are thus played in the wrong sequence. Even though the tracks were properly numbered when downloaded from CD (i.e. 1 track of 18, 2 track of 18 etc...)

ITunes For Mac :: In Songs View Sort By (album) Alone Stopped Working
Sep 4, 2014I normally prefer to view my songs in iTunes using the 'Songs' view, listing everything with the details shown. I'll usually set it to sort by 'Album'.Â
Clicking on the 'Album' header used to give me options that I could cycle through, but suddenly it is stuck on sorting only by 'Album by Artist', and I no longer have the option to simply sort by 'Album' alone.Â
I am unable to restore the ability to sort only by 'Album', have gone through all of the menu choices in how I view or sort my albums.
I have not made any changes to my system software or applications recently that would be obvious causes for this happening. All of my software is up-to-date.Â

Applications :: Unable To Make Playlists In Itunes / Cannot Sort Music By Year Name
Oct 20, 2008I've only recently added release years to all my albums and now I sort by album by year, which is great. However, I'd like to make some smart playlists based on decades, and this is a problem for anything on some sort of anthology or greatest hits collection. For example, the Barenaked Ladies greatest hits CD was released in 2001.
If I tag the whole album as 2001, it sorts correctly, but the individual tracks from the 90's won't show up in the 90's smart playlist. The other option I can think of is to tag each individual track with the correct year, but then the album stops appearing in the right place chronologically within the BNL albums, since iTunes no longer knows it was released in 2001.
So my question is this: is there some way to do a sort of "Sort Year" or "Album Year" similar to "Sort Artist" or "Album Year"?
And while I'm at it, I'm sure there's no way, but it seems like it'd be cool to somehow tie a track to two different albums. Previously, if I had a greatest hits and some original albums, I would erase any duplicates from the greatest hits and only keep them on the original album. However, since the release of iTunes 8 I use a more album-based approach to my music. I use grid view with shuffle off by default, and often just click "Play Album". But if I do that for a greatest hits comp, it of course won't play the tracks that I've deleted from it. So I have to keep two copies of the same recording for two different albums. It'd be cool if there was some way to tie one track to both albums to avoid dupes. But again, I'm pretty sure this'll never happen.

May 15, 2012I just bought an iMac and a WD My Book Live. The first cause my old laptop when to the great binary cloud in the sky, the second cause I want to be able to consolidate my media. Over the years I have ripped by CDs and DVDs so when the time came I could stream all my media through out my house and devices. Because I will be using the Mac primarily for the forseeable future, I have moved my music and movies into their respective iTunes folders. I have started to move my TV shows. But when you add the folder in iTunes I am still only getting the lovely iStore Advert telling me to start looking. Is it because my store is the Irish iTunes Store? So does anyone have some advice as the best way to store my TV Shows and get them to show in iTunes.

Sep 21, 2010Over the weekend, I replaced my 500 gig drive with a new 1 TB drive into my MacBook Pro. I used Time Machine to back everything up and did a restore with it. When I sent to use iTunes after the restore, nothing was listed in there but it did show my custom playlists, but only the names of the lists, no music listed inside. No music also was listed in the Music area. I then readded all my music and now when I go to music, iTunes crashes. But I also notice that it shows at the bottom I have XX,XXX songs taking up XX space. But the music area is still blank. I also notice in Videos, it is blank but shows at the bottom I have 1 video, which is correct and how it was before the restore.

I import them by adding them to the "automatically add to iTunes" folder. iTunes auto-magically adds them to the "Movies" section. At this point i can group-select, hit cmd-I, and change them to TV Shows. Easy! The only other piece of meta-data I would like to add is the episode number. Is there a quick way to do this? Or do i have to hit cmd-I, add episode #, hit OK button, select next episode, repeat....?

Can anyone tell me why some TV shows on iTunes which were previously available in HD, are now only available in SD?
Two examples are Legend of the Seeker and season 5 of Lost (the promo content was previously available in HD).
Also when I tried to purchased episode 11 of Fringe in HD and in SD, I recieved a message stating "THE ITEM YOU TRIED TO BUY IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE".

I just bought the HD version of Chuck Season 2 since I have seen Season 1 and looked at the download part in the iTunes and it has 44 to download. I noticed that is it downloading the SD as well.
