While navigating around Facebook, Safari continually hangs on Facebook websites beyond the home screen. I'll click a link and it'll go to a white screen and nothing with load. Then, if I try to go back to Facebook.com, it just remains on a white screen. If I load another website, though, it will work fine. I can't seem to get Facebook.com to load again unless I close Safari and reopen. I can use Google Chrome just fine without it hanging on any of the Facebook sites. Any ideas here?

I've tried three different browsers (safari, firefox, chrome). Here is a copy-paste of the ping to facebook.
Ping has started
Ping: cannot resolve [URL]: Unknown host
I've got no network software running in the background (other than dropbox), and I don't think I've set up a custom DNS. Not really sure how to check what it is. This is an on and off thing, sometimes facebook loads, sometimes it doesn't. Using computers connected to the same WiFi, I can freely access Facebook with no issues.

With Google Chrome and Safari facebook does not react anymore. Chrome gives server error Safari is blank.
May be it has eo do with Facebook but it happened just after this update...?!
Has anybody else noticed this. Recently in the last week it seems that Safari has been super slow on such sites like ign, myspace, facebook and sorts but over all just super slow.
For example, ill go on myspace, click on an approval and it just starts to load and stalls out. I then click stop and refresh and it loads fine. Its been doing it with almost all the sites actually but very noticle on the sites I mentioned above. Any clue? I know there is FireFox and Ie and sort out there but I like Safari and have never had a problem till now
I have this MBP 13'' Mac OS X 10.7.5 running a 2.4GHz i5, 4GB RAMs and 500GB storage. The problem started yesterday when I was typing on Word and I copy pasted something from the net (chrome browser) then it froze.I waited for around 5minutes and still frozen with the spinning wheel, then I decided to turn it off by pressing power for 10 seconds restarted my
MBP then now it running so slow on start-up and apps are very slow to open like around 5 minutes. Every action that I try to do like clicking on the apple in the upper left it freezes showing a spinning wheel and it will take time to show the drop down options. I checked disk utility and it said that HD is ok, done verify/permission verify and repair.
I checked the activity monitor noting the ram/CPU usage and its normal it even tells that 2GB of ram is not use.It shows not responding in the activity monitor if you open an app for around 5mins then it opens or it will crash.I already done the 2 kinds of reset and did not work.BUT it opens normally in Safe mode.Â

View 2 Replies View RelatedI edit using Lightroom and Photoshop and I'm having an issue while editing. After editing around 8-10 photos in Photoshop the computer starts running unbelievably slow. After each 8-10 photos I have to close down everything and reboot. Even the reboot process is super slow as I have to force quit each application usually 1-2 times to get it to close. Is this normal? I have a 2011 17" with 2.2 GHZ i7 with 8GB ram. Is there any setting that I can change or be aware of.

I had been using automator quite successfully until recently now I'm unable to get automator to step through even the most basic setup. It refuses to step through to the second action and perpetually runs without producing any results as the image below shows.for any of my automator setups I get results for the first step and then an indefinate hang on the second leaving the step icon greyed out. I have tried this with numerous other actions like calendars etc but to no avail. Below are the very basic automator steps I'm using in this example.Â

I am trying to write a generic script that will mount a disk upon log in of a user So far I have this: (which works for a specific user:)Â
try
mount volume "smb://MyUserName:MyPassWords@ServerIAmPointingTo"
end try Â
I have pointed the script to my log in prefernces so it runs automatically when I log in. Is there a way to do this with a generic username/password? If I wanted to give this script to 100 of my co-workers, they would all have to modify the code to their credeintals. But is there any defaut usernames or passwords that AppleScript will take?  Maybe something like: mount volume "smb://default:default@ServerIAmPointingTo" ...? My goal for this script is to have it run on peoples desktops at work to point to the same server, since I work in IT. But, I don't want to modify each script for each unique person.Â
My Macbook Pro with Mac OS X 10.7.4 has been real slow lately in opening files, saving documents, opening webpages. I often have MS Excel and Word and Outlook open so not sure if that is the problem.

Does anyone have some experience running multiple folder actions at the same time? I've written a Applescript folder action that processes some files. When adding some files, the script starts and all goes well. The processing of each file takes a few minutes, but all files are processed correctly. However, when adding some new files to the dropfolder, while the folder action is all ready processing other files dropped a few minutes earlier, the process that is all ready running immediately aborts and the folder action is relaunched on the new files, leaving the old files for what they are.The same problem occurs with multiple folders, each having a folder action attached. When dropping files in "Folder A", the script starts processing. But if someone droppes files in "Folder B", The script of folder A aborts, and the script of folder B starts processing. When adding more files to the folders, the result is the same. In some casses, when the last dropped files are processed, the os continues where the operation was aborted on the previous files. But this not always happens. To make things worse, when you remove the items from the folders afterwords, the folder actions starts running again on items no longer present in the folder ..Does anyone know how I can prevent the folder action being aborted when new files are dropped and placing the new files in "Hold", until the previous files are processed? How can I prevent a folder action being aborted when a item is dropped into another folder? I've written a small script to test this behaviour. Just create one or more folders and attach the script below. Drop a item into the folder, wait a few seconds and drop another one in the same or another folder. To monitor what happens please check the console. [code]

Trying to run the following command as a Launch Agent (OS X 10.7): /usr/bin/find /Users/username/Documents/Dropbox/Public -type f -mtime +2 -print0 | xargs -0 rm -rÂ
Created a plist file (reproduced below) and saved to ~/Library/Launch Agents, but the command isn't executed either at the specified time or when the agent is loaded via launchctl. If I change the command to a simple Applescript test: osascript -e 'tell Application "Finder" to display dialog "hello"'Â
It runs correctly as a launch agent when loaded and as the specified time Which means there's something wrong with the first command (find). But the command runs as written when executed manually in the terminal. Â

It is running Leopard, it usually has about 20 apps open at a time, and has 512 MB RAM (lol). How much ram should I slap in there to make it take off like a rocket? If you have any good Power Mac G5 RAM deals, then link to them.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy PPC G4 iMac is slow as hell. I plan on upgrading soon enough to a newer iMac but in the meantime I'd love to recover some speed. I know i have a woefully low amount of RAM - 768 to be exact - but apparently I'm stuck with that. It was running better in the past but with time things just slowed to a crawl with minimal things open - Mail, Safari and maybe Word and Excel. I gave up trying to run PS Elements 3 on this machine. That just makes me want to scoop my eyes out with a spoon.
I run iClean regularly, I have my desktop clear of clutter. What can I do in the interim before I buy the new iMac to help things some? Or am I just S.O.L. and just be patient and wait for the new machine?
I'm a new user to iMac, my kids use it for school and games. Lately it's been locking up and running slow, then takes off to catch up. I'm use to a PC and know how to clear out the registry and some other stuff, but when it come to the mac I'm lost.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having a number of problems with my 14th month old Macbook.
My wifi is slow whilst my room mate who uses a PC gets a much faster speed.
My general processing speed is slowing down even though i have done a system clean using "Clean My Mac"
Safari is like a snail so I have given up completely and have been using Chrome which initially was great but the past few weeks it also is slowing down, behaves strangely and wont let me sign into either my Twitter or YouTube but again my flat mate who also uses Chrome but on a |PC has no problem with these.
I am wondering if I have a virus or well honestly dont know what is going on but things are not working as smoothly as 6 months ago and this is not what I expected from a MAC having had years and years of using sluggish PCs.
I've had my MacBook with 2.16Gh Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 2G of RAM for over a year. I've never had any OS or other problems with it. For the past two months, or so, it's been running very slow while running any application. I'll be working on the laptop and everything is going just fine and then, all of a sudden, the spinning pinwheel of death comes on and I have to wait 2-3 mins. before I can use the computer again. Once, the pinwheel never went away and I had to do a forced shutdown by holding the power button down.
After reading posts on your site about the same issue, I downloaded Onyx for OS X 10.4. I have run the cleaning and automation applications twice. Before doing that, I repaired the disk permissions by using the Disk Utility.app in the Utilities directory. I was hoping that cleaning out the cache and all of the other things that Onyx does would help solve the problem. But it still does the same thing.
One last note: sometimes while in Mozilla 3.0 the pinwheel appears while trying to scroll using the two-finger drag on the touchpad. Also, while writing this post I've had to stop and wait three or four times while the pinwheel spins. I think, though, that for the most part the pinwheel appears during any application whenever some information is input from the keyboard or touchpad.
Might this be a problem with a particular program?
I have a white MacBook 2.1 that is running really slow! It has the 1.83 GHz processor with 4 GB ram. I have 250 GB hard drive and 201 GB are free.

I bought a brand new MacBook Pro in December 2011.
I have so far had no problems, using it everyday for work. I do not use a lot of programs or take up a lot of memory. I currently have 413GB free of 499GB and have hardly any apps running. My MacBook pro is now running extremely slow. It takes ages to load a web page, to open Word and even to start a new line in an email!
I am familiar with Windows and PC's but when it comes to Mac's, this is my first, and I am unsure of why this could be happening!Â
