OS X Technologies :: What Are The Steps Upgrade Ruby To Version 1.9.3 On V10.7.4
May 24, 2012
To work with a software packet, I need to uprade Ruby to version 1.9.3. The current Ruby version is 1.8.7.  What are the steps for upgrading Ruby to 1.9.3 If the upgrade runs into problems, how can I got back to "last known good state"?Â
I currently operate in the dark ages with OS X Tiger. I would like to upgrade to lion and need advice on the most economical way to accomplish this. Is there a "box set" that allows skipping steps?
What are the steps to up grade an old power mac G 4 from OS X 10.3.9 to Snow Leopard? Is it possible or recommended? With the current OS I can't download sfari upgrades or other programs.
In order to install Windows 7 via bootcamp, do you have to use the full version of windows or can you use the upgrade disc to install? I figured I should ask before buying another license as I have an upgrade version of Windows 7 Pro that I don't use. I do own previous versions of Windows (all of them....just like I do Mac OS).
INFO: `gem install -y` is now default and will be removed INFO: use --ignore-dependencies to install only the gems you list Building native extensions. This could take a while...
I have been wanting to buy a Mac Mini, but the one I want is a refurbished June 2010 model and comes with Snow Leopard Server. Is there any way I can upgrade to the non server version of Lion? I will not be using any server features, and to the best of my knowledge, the Mac Mini server does not have any hardware that does not come with the regular Mac Mini, other than the 2nd HDD.
I am currently facing the error : ruby: No such file or directory, when trying to run ruby scripts. when i type "which ruby" t returns: /usr/bin/ruby Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? I've googled around for about an hour and have found nothing.
Wiki services is broken after I updated Ruby and Rails in order to install a log reading dashboard. Now when I start wiki services (via command line), I get Error Reading Settings, and a 503 error when I try to access the wiki via the web. We have content in the wiki, so I'm hesitant to just blow it away.
When downloading the new version to upgrade an old one, is the new one installed on top of the old version, or is it just upgraded? Simply put, should I delete the old version and then install the new, or is this unnecessary? Hard drive space is at a premium, which is why I ask.
New Imacs are great but lack a Esata port or Express card port, 800 FireWire port is too slow compared to Esata. I am willing to upgrade my macbookpro bus 800 only if a new quad version appears. Any news from all the well informed guys?
I currently have Mac OS X 10.3.9 running on a Power Mac G5. I desperately need to get Final Cut Pro 6 installed on this machine, but it won't install unless I upgrade, so I need to know how to upgrade to the highest version I can run on the Power Mac G5. Does Apple have that upgrade online to purchase?
how to upgrade the old version OS to the newest one? Should I pay to upgrade the OS X v10.5.8 to Snow Leopard and then pay again to upgrade to Lion? Can I directly upgrade the OS to Lion?
I'm assuming that a RAM upgrade is something I can do (as opposed to bringing to Apple or servicer) to install a memory upgrade, but don't see how I open the box.
Trying to upgrade from leopard to snow leopard on my macbook, for some reason i think the install did not work (still says it is running on version 10.5.8) i am trying to upgrade to snow leopard so that i can move on to lion.
Question - how do I get started? I currently have Vista loaded on my BootCamp partition. Do I launch Vista, and run the Windows7 upgrade installation from Windows? Or do I do this from BootCamp?Note that this is an upgrade disc, not a full/initial install version.
I'm using an Intel iMac running OS 10.4.11. Obviously the computer is a few years old now and I'm wondering whether it is worth upgrading the system software or time to get a new computer. Can you guys venture any opinions as to which version of OS X I might be able to upgrade to with decent performance? I'd rather not add any memory if that's a requirement for upgrading - in that case I'd probably just opt for a new computer.Â
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.4.11), 1.83 GHz Core Duo 1GB 667 Mhz RAM
Recently I have connected my phone to try and synchronise it because I had some new music that I would like to put on it. Unfortunately, when I connected and tried to sync I immediately found something odd because my sync did not do the full 4 steps but only 2, being : starting sync and looking for tracks to sync.Â
I later discovered that for some odd reason iTunes said there was not enough space on my iPhone to sync my music with, even though there is over 10GB left of space. I read a similar problem where the iTunes wanted to re-sync the full library with the iPhone if it sensed that it was not the usual iPhone it did an initial sync with. However, that's not true. I am using the iPhone I've always used and this Mac's one and only hardware it's ever synced with is my iPhone. So I don't understand why iTunes would want to re-sync my full library.Â
Furthermore, I only want to add around 20 soungs to my iPhone, which definitely does not take 10GB and the main issue is that without any recent updates or changes or anything, my sync only does two steps anymore and says there isn't enough capacity on my phone to sync it with. I unchecked "sync Music" to try and lower the space, pressed Apply but now it won't even sync my Music back anymore.
