Since upgrading to Lion I've had the problem with wi fi losing connection and this seems to be common? The Apple support talked me through a change in system config. I'm no expert and not sure if I could repeat if needed. The support desk could not guarantee that this will permanently fix the problem though.

I work in the IT Department. I have about 3,000 Windows XP machines and just 10 Mac. The graphic designers have to be special. The macs have been bound to Active Directory. The issue that is causing me such headaches and sleepless nights is that when the Mac users change their domain password every 30 days, they get locked out of the printer server, intranet and entourage email (Exchange 2003).
How do I get the keychain to update the stored domain resource passwords (exchange, intranet, print server) with the new domain password? I really need these people to stop calling the helpdesk every 30 days.
The Macs run DAVE and do connect to Windows Shares. They are all brand new Macs running the latest OS Snow Leopard with all the updates.

I have a Time Capsule wirelessly connected to my iMac. Since I've encountered some problems with backups because of intermittent wifi connection failures, I want to switch to a wired connection with an ethernet cable. I know I could fiddle with the wifi channels etc. but since the TC is just sitting next to my iMac anyway, I could profit from the higher bandwidth of a wired connection as well. Two questions:
1. What exactly do I have to do to make the switch? Are there any new settings I have to apply? Create a new network?
2. Will I still be able to use the wifi connection to get on the internet using my smartphone?

For some reason, approximately once a month, the Mac loses the wifi settings. This sends the clock back to January 1st and takes several attempts of reentering the network name and password before it is recognised again.
Also, the wifi settings seem to no longer be part of the keychain when that happens.
This is getting to be a pain. Does anyone know why this happens (it only happens on one of the Macs; others are fine)? What can I do to repair it for good?

Every time I try to delete my wifi certificate in Keychain Access, it continually crashes. Tried it in safe mode, still crashes. I cannot get my Airport extreme 5th gen to pass along an IP address to my Mac even though mac is connected to AE (seen via Network Utility). Thought that deleting keychain password would work. I'm just now upgrading from 10.6 to 10.7, and I'm having trouble with a script that I wrote that worked fine under 10.6. In part, it executes the following command: osascript -e "tell application "Finder" to set destop picture to POSIX file "<path>"" to change the desktop background image to one of two different files based on other conditions. In 10.7, this command completes with no error code, but it only changes the background of one of my four desktops. Is there a way to programmatically change the background image of all of my desktops simultaneously? Failing that, is there a way to a) find out how many desktops I have and b) loop through them, setting each of their backgrounds in turn? osascript -e "tell application "System Events" to set picture of every desktop to "<path>"" Unfortunately, that also changes only the current desktop's picture. The larger script is in Perl, so I'd prefer a technology that works well with that language, but if I have to change to a different scripting language, that's not the end of the world.

Just got a new MacBook Pro, and it is having wifi connectivity issues. Every time I fully shut down and restart the computer, it will not connect to my house's wifi. Rebooting the wifi solves the problem. This didn't happen w/ my old macbook, and no one else in the house is having wifi connection problems.

I'm trying to set up a RDC over WiFi. Both laptops are on the same WiFi network. I installed the latest RDC sw on my mac and I'm logged on as an admin on the other laptop which is running Windows XP. From My Computer > Properties > Remote > 'Allow remote assistance etc' is ticked. From the 'Advanced' tab I also ticked 'Allow this computer to be controlled remotely'. I temporarily switched off the Zone Alarm firewall on the Windows laptop. I launched RDC, I type in the IP of the Windows laptop (which is a generic 198.162.x.y) but nothing happens. I even tried to type in the laptop name but nothing happens either. The RDC cannot find the laptop. I checked that all the services starting with the word 'Remote' on the Windows based laptop have been 'Started'.

I'll be using my MBA on the hotels' WIFI network as of Sunday next.
My question is whether it would be possible that while being on the hotel's WIFI network other guests could actually hack my MBA.
If so what setting should I adjust to prevent this from happening?

I work for a business that sells a lot of computers, Macs specifically. We've got a wi-fi network in our building; however, the network constantly drops out. Despite our pleas to IT, they will not fix the issue. Our demo computers that customers can play with and consider purchasing often lose Internet access because of this. Whenever this happens, I have to manually turn the Airport off and then back on again, which will get it to reconnect. Does anybody know of a way to have the computer automatically do this every so often?

I have 3 macs working off my wireless router. Two out of three are still working fine, but the third (an iMac G5) keeps losing its network connection and either won't find the network or, if it does, will not allow me to rejoin it, even after entering the relevant key/password. It has been in the same location in my house and has worked fine for the last five years. But oddly, if I move the G5 to within a few feet of the router it starts working again (though sometimes seems unable to find the network, although when it does it will let me join it, hassle free).
Have spoken to some Apple guys and, following their advice, have gone into SYSTEM PREFERENCES, NETWORK, LOCATION but having got that far a pop-up appears telling me that an application has changed my network settings. Zapping OK, this dialog box just keeps re-appearing and the only way I can get out of this corner is by 'force quit'.

I don't have WiFi internet at home and have an Ethernet cable plugged into my Mac Book Pro from my modem. From there I can use the Mac Book Pro as a WiFi transmitter and can surf the net on my iPad and iPhone using the Wifi from the Mac Book Pro.When I try and connect my XBOX One via Wifi to my Macbook Pro the Xbox one detects the Mac Book Pro and after I enter the password it mentions something about a MAC error.
