OS X :: Saving WebPages As A PDF On IMAC 27?
Apr 25, 2010I need to save some web pages as pdfs. When I use screen capture, everything is captured, including the dock!
What's the best way to save JUST the web page as a PDF?

I thought that I'd accidentally erased some important files, so I used Stellar Phoenix Data Recovery to scan my drive for deleted files. Many hours later, the app finished scanning my drive, and I decided to save all deleted files that it could find. What did I find in the JPEGs folder? I found JPEGs of whole webpage windows in Safari!!! There are tons and not of times when I would take a screenshot. There are large browser window images of my e-mail browsing, forum browsing, etc. And when I say large, I mean that if one has to scroll down to see a webpage, the image is actually of 2 vertical pages or so, so the images are of parts that would go off the page.
What the ***** is going on here? WHY or HOW can there be such image recordings on my hard drive? It's not cache in HTML but as JPEGs. The images are from Safari on Tiger, by the way.
Here are some examples:

If anyone has time to scan their hard drive for deleted files, please check on this browser window image thing. There are images of open e-mail messages, etc. This is ridiculous.
Why am I having trouble scrolling through webpages? The loading of the pages seems slow.

I have been having crippling WiFi problems were I am forced to reload webpages 20-30 times before the page loads fully. I have tried many things and even upgraded the RAM to 8gb, and I still have the same problem. I have also tried resseting the WiFi, router, and iMac and it seems my problem is more complicated than that. I have run a test too and I had no lost packets. The strange thing is after a webpage not loading, if I refresh the page 20-30 times it finally loads!

I just installed a new SSD. Time Machine is active. It says it is saving data. When you open TM, it opens the times that it saved data except there is noting in the boxes and the button to choose a backup to restore is greyed out, not allowing to choose anything as there isn't anything to choose. The TM says that it has backed upped 350 gb of data. There is nothing there however. I rebooted, disconnected external drive, even reformatted and started over. Nothing seems to work.

Should I go with a RAID, will it work with IMAC? I did tons of research and found nothing but conflicting info about each brand. My eyes are bleeding now.

I shut down the computer and unplugged everything but now when I turn the computer back on it shows my home screen and I can see the mouse icon moving around but I am unable to 'click" on any of my programs and get a response.

I am running Lion 10.7.3 on a 2.8GHz CoreDuo iMac from 2007 and on a Macbok Air 2.13 GHz Core duo from 2010. The iMac has 4GB of RAM the Macbook has 2 GB RAM.
I run Microsoft Office 2011 on both machines. For the same file the Macbook operates normally on Word and Excel. The iMac is slow at best and when I try a Save As it hangs for up to 15 minutes brfor letting me change the FIle Name. This effectively makes it unusable.
As far as I can tell the set up of Office on both Machines is identical and I have eliminated duplicate Fonts as suggested by some posts but the problem remains. I have checked Activity Monitor and I am not getting any Page Outs so RAM does not appear to be an issue.
Why does my mac stop downloading files, copying to clipboard, saving files to desktop, etc?
iMac g5 1.9 ghz 17" running 10.5.8. Had a hard drive crash and bought a new one. Loaded new OS leapord. Everything works fine at first, but after the computer has been on for a while, it will stop downlading files, disk verify doesn't work. I can't copy and paste stuff. It seems as if the hard drive is full, but I have only used 32GB of 300GB.
When I restart, it works again, then slowly not. Is it an overheating issue? How do I know if my fan is running? Is it a bad hard drive I put in it? Bought it new with three year waranty.
I'm having trouble with people at my workplace spending too much time on non-work related websites (MySpace, YouTube, etc...). Ideally, I'd like to be able to do the following, but of course, this is a Mac. I would need it to work for both Safari and Firefox
code:Prank your friends by redirecting there favourite site into something there not expecting! NOTE: Heres the written tutorial because i forogot to put audio onto the video... ;( Written Tutorial: STEP 1. Find a website that your friend would NOT like to go to... STEP 2. Go to the site:
[URL] STEP 3. Type in the URL you would like to direct in the "Enter a host name for Forward DNS Lookup:" box STEP 4. Press look it up, and copy the IP address down. STEP 5. Click on "Start" ---> "Run" and type in "notepad cwindowssystem32driversetchosts" STEP 6. On the last line paste the ip address, press tab and type in the URL your friend will visit STEP 7. Save and test Once he goes to the website he wishes, it will redirect into the website you set it to Hope this prank goes well!
Failing that, is there a simple way of just blocking websites from the OS and only allowing administrator access to bypass these?
This started occuring very suddenly for the past week or so. I especially cant load anything related to google. Not even youtube. No matter the connection, wired or wireless, different networks, or the web broswer. How do I fix this!?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm basically looking for a program like WGet to save a lot of webpages. I want to be able to point it at a site and have it save all the pages for offline use. Is there a way to this that doesn't require me going to each site and saving it for offline?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if anyone knows of a good app for the Mac that will monitor a given web page for any changes in content and immediately send an email or other alert letting me know. I don't care so much about the particular changes, just the fact that a change was made.
I was looking at Web Secretary, but it's a *nix app that doesn't have a GUI and I'm not entirely sure it would do what I need. I would rather have something a bit more user-friendly anyway, and preferably free.
I have a MacBook running OSX 10.4, and I'm using Firefox 3.0.9. For nearly every webpage that I open, the error log gives me an error like "Expected (blank) but received (blank). Declaration dropped." This isn't a problem for some webpages, as they'll load fully, but for others, they won't load at all. This is a really frustrating problem, and it just started all of a sudden yesterday. I didn't install a new web browser or any new extensions, and I've done virus and malware scans, and I can't seem to find the problem. Could it be a problem with extensions, or with my system, or perhaps my Internet connection?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am a new MAC owner. Being curious , I click on stuff I should not. I use a particular bingo game site. Lately the window appears at more than 100% in size. I lose the bottom part of the page where important information is like the options box, chat area, full gameboard and my points information. I tried discussion forums on the apple web site, but the answers do not quite apply to my situation. I searched for a manual for safari (my Internet explorer). I am on a dial up connection and it would take me a few days to download a manual. I hope you can help me. Other sites I visit like my Yahoo are fine . Only my bingo site.
View 7 Replies View RelatedStarting yesterday Safari just won't load any webpages at all. It will start, the window opens and after that nothing happens. No matter what url I use.
I do have a stable internet connection. Firefox and Chrome both work fine but I do want to use Safari.
I bought a brand new laptop from HP in September and within a week of getting, adding nothing more than a few starwars games, I installed Safari 5.x (I'm not sure the exact version). I opened it up and no webpages would load. I can access settings, open new tabs, the works. I simply cannot browse to any website at all. I can type in a web address and the loading bar starts, but then hangs all day at like 10%.
All other web browsers I've used work fine. So I uninstalled it. Again today I downloaded and installed safari 5.1.2. Same thing. I'm wondering what the problem is and have tried the netsh winsock reset trick and reinstalling etc. Nothing has solved it. I downloaded 4.0.5 while typing this and that does not seem to be working either. iTunes works fine. I have no proxy settings. My firewall is turned off. Could there be some other program that conflicts with Safari and only Safari?

I was watching a video on Hulu, and suddently I got a error that the website could not load. Since then, I can't load most pages (yet oddly I have found one page that still works.) Network diagnostics says that everything is working fine... and I can still connect to everything just fine with with my MacBook and iPhone on the same network. I have the same problem whether I am trying to use Safari or Google Chrome..

I have a MacBook Pro with bootcamp and Windows 7 as well as OS X (unsure of version number at this moment, but think its 10.5). On the Windows 7 side, webpages load quickly in both Firefox 3.6.10 and Internet Explorer 8.0 and I rarely have trouble. On the MAC side, webpages are often unbearably slow to load and often do not load at all or time out or stop halfway through loading. This is both occurring in Firefox (latest version) and Safari (latest version).

I do a lot of Mail Contents Of This Page or emailing of webpages to my friends. Mail often crashes now when I try to do this. I sent a bug report to Apple already.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow can I save web pages I visit so I can view them when I'm not online? For example, right now i'm writing an essay for school and have like 10 web pages saved on my Google Notebooks. Obviously this isn't an issue when I'm connected to the internet as I can simply just go to my notebook and link to the sites again. But there are times, like yesterday when I had a few hours to kill, no where near any internet but had my macbook with me in my car and could've typed away. But needed the info on the web pages. How can I save/cache those sites so I can open them up when I'm not connected to the internet? If it matters I use Firefox mainly/online. BTW, I realized it takes like 80% less time for me to complete an essay if i'm using my macbook than a PC from my university.

View 8 Replies View RelatedAbout a week ago my Mac started loading webpages very slowly (CNN would take over 5 minutes to load). I have downloaded and occasionally use Firefox and it had the same problem.
I checked my internet connection and everything seems fine, my other computer (its a PC) is connecting just fine and loading webpages at the usual speeds.
I found online some instructions regarding Safari loading webpages slow they involved deleting the cache, and then deleting a few .plist files in the library. This seems to work, but with a day or so the problem comes back. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem?
Some webpages are turning up with the same font. It's the font named Snell Roundhand. Error pages, eBay information pages... stuff like that. It will disregard my font selection and go with that one.
