OS X :: Possible To Plugin Xbox 360 To Monitor Using HDMI Cable
Jun 22, 2010
Just recently got a Mac Pro and it's plugged into a 24 inch Dell monitor with the DVI cable, can I also plug my xbox 360 to the same monitor at the same time using an HDMI cable or could that cause problems?
if i buy the mini display port to dvi adapter, could i use it with a dvi to hdmi cable for my monitor. This is because the dvi and vga ports are already taken up.
I'm trying to plug my new mac mini into my Dell flat screen monitor. It doesn't seem to fit my HDMI to VGA cable so I'm assuming that my cable is in fact a DVI? The cable is actually a little too big for the VGA adapter and no spots for the screws.

Looking for best conversion cable to hook my Mac Book Pro up to our new HDTV - thought someone said I should get a converter that converts Mac 800 firewire output to an HDMI cable hookup.
I receive cable TV at home and I am told that instead of using a TV I can hook my MacBook via a HDMI cable and watch TV that way on my laptop screen. I'd like to do that. Is the information correct? How do I go about it? Can my MacBook do that?
I was wondering if anyone knows if its possible to share my LAN internet to an XBOX 360 using the Apple USB ethernet cable (for the Macbook Air) on my Macbook Pro 13"? I've tried several routers, and all have them have failed me giving me massive timeouts and sudden disconnects. I think this should be a good solution.
I have been searching around the forum for this answer and I haven't found anything specific. Here is my network setup.
Bedroom: Modem --ethernet-- Airport Extreme --ethernet-- iMac Living Room: Airport Express (Wirelessly Connected to Airport Extreme) currently setup for AirTunes using a bridged connection.
What I want to know are the specifics of running an ethernet cable from my XBOX 360 to the Airport EXPRESS and using that as my internet hook up to get on Xbox Live.
I got a DVI-to-HDMI cable from the Apple store, the employee there said it was the best way to connect my Macbook (older model) to an HDTV. As it turns out, HDMI carries both video *and* audio and unless I'm mistaken, my TV doesn't have associated audio jacks for either of its HDMI inputs. Is there a way around this, or is HDMI not a useful way to connect a Mac to a TV?
I've been using an HDMI cable to connect my macbook pro to a LG TV. I haven't used it in couple of weeks, the cable seems fine but when I connect it to the TV it says NO SIGNAL. Any help? I've tried restarting the computer, turning it off and back on with the cable plugged...
My Power Mac G5 is connected to my Sony HDTV using a brand new DVI-HDMI cable ($80 at Radio Shack). The second I plugged it in, both the TV and the Monitor went black. I only had picture for a couple minutes in 3 - 5 second intervals. It never straightened itself out. I restarted, same thing. Has this happened to anyone? It's as if the TV was drawing power away from my Apple Cinema display (non-HD...the older one). Heres my computer info:
Power Mac G5 2GB memory Dual 250 GB hard drive NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT DDL
When I connect my MBP to my TV(an LG 42LBX) using a DVI-HDMI cable, I can't get a good picture using 1920x1080. It works fine on lower resolutions and the colors are perfect. But when I set it to 1080 it becomes all washed out (See picture at the end... I made it in Photoshop but that's pretty close to what I see on my TV). Also, it is only letting me use 1920x1080 interlaced. Why? Is my cable bad, or is it something with my TV or MBP?
I need a 6ft DVI to HDMI cable to connect my mini to my TV. Unfortunately these are out of stock at monoprice. Can you suggest any other reputable alternate site where these cables can be bought for a reasonable price?
I have a late 2009 13.3" MacBook, and I want to use my tv as a monitor but I wasn't looking to have 3 adapters to make it possible so I was hoping to have the Mini DVI to HDMI cable. Well newegg said this cable was what I wanted so I bought it for $20 and of course it isn't what i want at all. Where can I find the cable I want?

I am trying to connect my MBP to my TV via HDMI and I obviously I need a MiniDisplay to HDMI cable, but I'm confused with the whole "female-male" cable stuff and I don't want to buy the wrong thing.
I got the mini-displayport+USB(sound) to HDMI adapter. I just need a HDMI cable to plug into the adapter now. What is a cheap good HDMI cable? What kind should I get? 1.3 or 1.4? Does it matter?
I'm trying to connect my mid 2011 iMac to my tv. I have a thunderbolt to hdmi cable that I purchased. I connected the thunderbolt port to the iMac and connected the hdmi port to the tv. I turned on both devices and the tv is not getting the signal.

I have a Monoprice USB/Mini-USB to HDMI port in Samsung LCD TV. When watching a movie being shown from my Macbook to the TV screen we can't get audio to transfer to the TV. We've tried different setting on the TV remote but nothing seems to work.

I'm trying to figure out how to use my iMac as a monitor to play my 360 on. I think it has to do something with DVI cables, but I don't know how to do it or how it works. To the best of your knowledge, how do I set up an xbox to play on my monitor with DVI cables and whatever else I need?
