Sep 6, 2014I have an issue with my mouse that started a few days ago. My cursor doesn't always change properly when I mouseover certain things. For example, when I hover it above a link, it turns into a pointing hand like it should, when I navigate to the URL bar, it will stay as the hand even after clicking for a short while before changing to what it's supposed to become (the thin bar.) Sometimes it will remain a thin bar when it's supposed to be a black arrow, and so forth. I've tried troubleshooting the issue, but I haven't found much of relevance. One user seemed to be experiencing the same thing albeit only in some pro software I don't use. Mine is system wide.
I'm using the trackpad on a 2014 baseline 15" rMBP running Mavericks 10.9.4.

Yes and I have tried anything in settings of games that I play. There are lots of people who are heaving exact same problem and they haven't found any solution solution except for installing Windows on their macs via bootcamp. I realy dont want to to that.

Jun 1, 2014I have bought 2 new 27" iMacs running Mavericks. I've got two problems. When opening, changing and saving JPGs in Photoshop Elements 6, the thumbnail disappears and only a generic JPG icon shows. This happens randomly. I read that PSE6 is OK on Mavericks. I don't see the problem with GIMP or Lightzone, but I would like to be able to use PSE. Second, my mouse cursor randomly disappears from the screen from time to time.

Sep 2, 2014This has just started happening a few days ago. I think it has something to do with bluetooth. Every time I have to restart my iMac, the mouse and keyboard freeze. I work around this by unplugging the mouse from the keyboard and plugging it into one of the usb ports on the back of the imac. I used to have a wireless keyboard and mouse and I'm typing on it now because the regular wired keyboard no longer seems to work at all now. I think the bluetooth setting sin system preferences which are all checked, may have something to do with this but not sure. Everything else on the machijne is fine. How can I set things so that I can use my wired keyboard?

Jun 5, 2014It is happening more and more often: When I start my iMac the mouse pointer is moving normally but when I click on, say, Finder nothing happens, or when I click on the Dock nothing happens. It will not stay or land on any app. It is just hovering and nothing seems to be affected by the mouse pointer.
I turn the mouse off and back on and it works fine. So it is an erratic behavior which baffles me.
I have read numerous cases in the discussions and all point to a PRAM reset. Will a PRAM reset delete or revert modifications I have made to my iMac, such as disabling the startup sound, via sudo?
I don't mind restarting the mouse but it is a hassle

Sep 5, 2014I have an early 2008, 24-inch iMac. This problem started after I installed an OS X Mavericks update (and has continued). Basically, after the screen is asleep for a while, if you come back and move the mouse / tap the keyboard, the desktop never reappears. The screen stays black but the mouse cursor shows up and you can drag it around. I've seen some similar issues that said they could get the app switcher, but that never happens for me. Just mouse cursor and black screen, no matter how long you try to wait it out or tap buttons. The only solution is a cold restart, although I think in the past I was able to fix by turning off energy saver settings for putting the display to sleep. It doesn't happen every time, I'd say it happens over 50% of the time. The problem actually kicked in with one particular App Store update of Mavericks. I believe it was 10.9.3 if I recall correctly.

But I tried plugging in my "ordinary pc" (meant to say that is not a Mac mouse) mouse which is an A4Tech brand. It's working when I move the mouse in huge spaces. It goes smoothly that way. But when I try to move it in small little spaces, it's kind of like not going smoothly. Especially when I'm working on small details like Photoshop, it's kind of difficult to maneuver the mouse arrow. I tried other "pc" mouse as well but it's just the same.. Does this really happen if I'm not using Mac's mouse? How do I fix this?

Hardware :: Mighty Mouse Pointer Stopped Responding / Green Light On Bottom Of Mouse Flashing
May 1, 2009I know that the general consensus here is that the Mighty Mouse is a piece of shit. That notwithstanding, I'd appreciate posters refraining from engaging in further elaborations on that concept when replying to this topic (i.e., no comments like "Buy a new mouse," please).
At any rate, I purchased a wireless Mighty Mouse about a month ago and was very happy with it until the batteries apparently died. One day the pointer simply stopped responding and the green light on the bottom of the mouse was flashing. I replaced the batteries and the mouse resumed normal operation. Then, a few days later it happened again. I have yet to re-replace the batteries and have reverted to using my now eight-year-old Logitech dual-optical mouse (possibly the finest peripheral I have ever owned). Has anyone else encountered this issue?
Is this mouse having internal hardware or software issues or is it normal for it to devour batteries at this rate? System Preferences says that Bluetooth is maintaining the connection properly, so I am ruling that out as an issue. I would just say to hell with it, and use my Logitech mouse full-time, but my wife hates it and I payed seventy goddamn dollars for the Apple product.
OS X :: Mouse Not Working After Wake / Mouse Cursor Is Beachball And Not Spinning
Jun 6, 2008When I wake from sleep, my mouse cursor is a beachball that is NOT spinning. I can use my mouse like normal, move it, and click on things, but its still a beachball. I beleive it stays like this until the mouse is actually supposed to be a beachball (when I open a few programs at the same time and the computer starts "thinking"), then it starts spinning and after that it goes back to the normal black arror cursor.
Might be a problem from the 10.5.3 update? anyone else experience this?
MacBook Air :: Bluetooth Mouse + Time Machine = Slow Mouse
Apr 20, 2009I just upgraded from a MBA rev A to a rev B. I experienced this with both machines, so it's not just a rev A issue...
I use a Bluetooth Mighty Mouse and everything is fine... until my hourly wireless Time Machine backup starts. Then the mouse cursor becomes very choppy and sluggish. As soon as the hourly backup completes, the mouse's responsiveness returns to normal. Throughout all this, the trackpad is just as responsive as always -- no change there. I don't have another bluetooth mouse to see if its just the Mighty Mouse.
When this happens, the Activity Monitor is not spiked. The fans aren't running loud (so I don't expect its an overheating issue). This doesn't happen during a large wireless download -- just Time Machine. It's not a big deal, but rather an annoyance.
Any ideas why? Or even more to the point, any ideas on how to fix it?
MacBook :: Mouse Wheel Speed Unaffected By Mouse Preferences
Jun 11, 2009I'm using a Logitech MX 518 mouse. It was working fine with the exception of the two side buttons; they weren't set up the way I liked and the mouse control panel did not let me change them. I installed some Logitech drivers (lcc213) that were supposed to support the mouse; upon reinstalling the mouse was not recognized by the Logitech software. The scroll wheel became very sluggish (maybe scrolling one line, and seemingly no acceleration). I removed the Logitech software and restarted, but now my mouse is stuck that way - moving the scroll speed in the Mouse preferences all the way to the left or all the way to the right makes no difference.
Is there any way to reset the mouse drivers or whatever might be messed up, short of a reinstall?
I even tried to use USB Overdrive and that likewise has no effect on the scroll speed.

Mar 21, 2007I'm looking to maybe replace my mouse, and I quite like the look of the Logitech G3 mouse, mainly because it looks like the same design as my trusty Wheel Mouse, but with a couple of side buttons added. The problem is that according to the Logitech site, the software is PC only, but I assume that the standard left/right/middle buttons and scroll work as normal. I've read in another post here about the MX518 that although the extra buttons on that mouse can't be programmed in the control panel (except for expose?), they work fine in other applications (World of Warcraft was mentioned, and it's that I'm specifically interested in).
So, anyone actually used one of these mice? Or should I just get the MX518?
