Sudden Preview.app shut down. Error message - it unexpectedly quit while reopening windows and will not launch. Have tried finder go option preferences to no avail.

Preview quit unexpectedly while using the ImageCaptureCore plug-in.
when I try to open a file in Preview. Same error occurs when I simply try to open Preview directly as well. It was working fine yesterday and prior to that. Haven't added any external devices or done any updates so I am not sure what happened. I did however download a game about two days ago called F18 Carrier Landing....could this be the cause...

I used to open my printer job as the item was printing and it would open with preview and then I could click on it and mail a copy to myself. I since installed the latest OSX Maverick and now my printer job opens with something else and I can't do anything with it except see what I am printing.

Below is the error message I have been getting when trying to print a pdf from preview. This happens every time. I never had this issue before upgrading to 10.9.3.
I attempted deleting from my library:
com.apple.preview
come.apple.preview.lssharedfilelist.plist
com.apple.preview.savedstate
I didn't delete permanently but they are in my trash bin and this has not worked. It definitely seems like there is some compatability issue from my old operating system occurring here but im not sure how to fix this.

I just got the screen that says you need to hold down the power key and restart your computer. Anyone know why? I'm running tiger. I had about 12% battery left and I am "borrowing" my neighbors internet because mine is down right now (I'm a broke college student). I had about 1-3 bars of internet but those go in and out and fluctuate often. I've noticed my computer seems to lag because of that, I've had a lot more applications crashing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOn Safari, it keeps giving me error messages saying "Safari Webpage Preview Fetcher has quit unexpectedly" and "QTKit has quit unexpectedly". Sometimes every few seconds. I tried using a "MultiSafari" v.4.0.5 and it does the same thing. I suspect it is because of deleting the contents of the Caches folder (which I do regularly, but never had problems with).

OS X Lion Preview always crashes when read PDF in full screen mode (preview app full screen mode is mandatory to crash) then right click on any word in PDF and in context menu select "Look up in dictionary", then click on word Dictionary or Thesaurus to open Dictionary in it's own app's window. PowerMac G5 OS 10.5 Leopard - I am getting this error message. If I start up from Install Disk and try to Reinstall the OS, it throws an error message stating "Cannot verify Disk." If I start up from Install Disk, it goes directly to OS Installation without utility options. If I DO NOT Start up from Install Disk, little is recognized, including Main Menu Bar at top. If I insert Install Disk, it does not recognize a disk was inserted to work off. This all happened when: I chose to do a clean restore on the HD to sell the PowerMac. During the process, I had to stop it and I followed directions. Quit Install and select disk to restart from. I chose my HD and proceeded.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince downloading 10.5.1, I have had the message below pop up about every half hour. Almost every time, I click "Report...." to send to failure to Apple. I have also tried clicking "Relaunch," but that done nothing to fix the problem. Half an hour later, the popup comes back again. It has happened now more times than I can count. I have tried to research what this application is, but to no avail. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this or to at least get rid of the pop up?

Today i turned on my macbook and nothing would open.

I just bought an iMac G4. This machine has been great, until a few hours ago. I was surfing Camino, when I went to go to IE for Mac (to check my Gmail, because Camino crashes when I go to Gmail) and then the same website I typed in on IE [URL] showed up in Camino. Of course, Camino crashed. Then, Camino started itself back up again, automatically surfed to [URL], and crashed again. Then Camino started up again...(and so on)
So I chose to force shut down the computer via the power button (which was probably a bad choice). When I got back on, I tried starting Camino. It crashed almost as soon as I clicked on it. I tried again...same thing. I soon came to realize that everything to do with the internet (Camino, Safari, IE, AIM) crashes the same way (almost as soon as you click on it). You ask how it crashed? Just the normal "This application unexpectedly quit" type.
Entourage stopped opening on my system a few days ago. When I attempt to launch I receive the message in the subject line. This happens from both the alias and the program icon. I am on OS X 10.5.6 and this is the first time I've had any trouble w/Entourage.

But as soon as I click on one of these messages or any RSS, the application quits and I get " mail application quit unexpectedly" msg.

I have logged in as a guest user, and i have the same problem. My hard drive has been partitioned, and it recognizes the sound driver in windows, and when starting up, the sound driver works. Additionally, i tried to do a hardware check, and that fails to load as well ( i tried both with and without the disc that's supposed to contain the application )

I was wondering if maybe I have too much on my hard drive and that is why my most commonly used applications have suddenly begun to close mid-use. I've never had this problem before and have recently uploaded quite a bit of music/photos to my MacBook, so it seems to be the only logical explanation for it? Or, I don't think I could've gotten a virus because 1. I'm very cautious about the files I download and 2. I don't think Macs are susceptible to most viruses. I could be wrong, though.
Nonetheless, does anyone know of any solution for this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedSince upgrading to 10.6.1 I've found that every time i wake my MB from sleep, applications keep quitting left and right, and I get these "application quit unexpectedly" messages. It's happened with Entourage, Safari, iTunes, Dashboard. It's getting pretty annoying. I've tried resetting the PRAM but that didn't help.
Does anybody have a clue what to do?!
when i open pictures, they open in colorwync utility. when i right click it to open with a different program, Preview is not there. Nor is it anywhere else on my computer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working away today on my iMac OS X 10.6.4 mainly just screwing off visiting social networking sites on the web. Later, I minimize my windows, and notice the icons on my desktop are a little strange. Upon further research, all the folder icons are gone (or they are transparent). You can see the folder name, but no icon associated with the folder. Also, all my pdf, jpg, png, etc are now associated with Adobe (either Acrobat or Photoshop CS). They used to be associated with the Application "Preview". I've rebooted and tried a lot of other things to restore icons, and nothing has worked. Here is what I have found. I dont think it's an icon problem, I think it's a "Preview" problem. If I click on the "Preview" icon nothing happens. If I right click on a jpg (for instance), and select "Open With" - Preview is not there. If I Choose "Open With Other..." within the Application folder, "Preview" is grayed out. If I select "Enable All Applications" then "Preview" is no longer grayed out. But when I select it, and select "Open", nothing happens.
Everything "appears" to be working normally. Just I no longer have any folder icons on the desktop or within finder. And I am no longer able to open anything within "Preview" All my files are now associated with another application (which works fine) but not with preview. I finally found a way to copy a folder icon to the "invisible folder". If, for example, I right click on my "DropBox" folder (which I can see) and select Get Info, I can copy that icon to a "Normal/Default" folder such as Documents. So I did that to about a dozen folder and it worked. But there is no way I'm going to do that to 1000 folders! Today, Aug 27, I get a security update and a few other things from Apple and I install them. Then I'm asked to reboot. After I install the updates, and reboot my iMac, even the folder I cut n pasted are now gone. And so are the jpg gif and pdf icons are now gone too. Prior to the update, the pdf, jpg and gif files had a Photoshop CS icon (instead of the previous "Preview" icon and preview that I'm trying to restore.). Now even the Photoshop and Adobe icons are gone.....
I opened a PDF to crop some parts of the file and there are two big issues:
1. I cannot crop multiple pages anymore. There just isn't that option in Inspector or anywhere else. I can only crop one page at a time.
2. Not only can I not crop more than one page at a time, but cropping doesn't actually delete the date. I can go to "View | PDF Display | Crop Box" and see what I just cropped!
is there a alternative app for viewing pictures besides preview? am i missing something? im new to osx and cant figure out why i cant cycle through pictures. instead having to open each one independently. the same sort of situation when navigating through finder windows. any advice? is this just the way it is?
