View 1 RepliesI'm running a bootcamped Windows Vista and I forgot the password to the only admin account. Anyway to fix this without reinstalling the entire system? I don't have access to an installation dvd now either, so anything using that is not possible.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI cant seem to add software or to update my adobe flash player. For example, when I got to update the flash player it instead asks me to type your password to allow Install Adobe Flash Player to make changes. It lists my name but for the life of me I dont remember the password (in reality I dont recall setting it up).

i just got a mac, it has OSX. I was messing arround with it and setting up accounts, and i got around to making the admin account. Well i didn't want my sister to have admin (IN retro it doesn't matter), how ever i make my account, and make it a admin. Well as it turns out as i made the account you had to have some "Finger board"? password. and i lacked that. not thinking i shut down the comp for the night.... and then went back in the morning to relise that all i had was a user level account.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI had been trying to install software updates for about a week and each time after I typed in my admin password in the prompt, the prompt kept shaking as if the password was incorrect (which it wasn't because it's the only password I ever use so I know it by heart and the caps lock button was not on). I tried going to my System Preferences page and clicking on the Accounts button. All of the other buttons seemed to work just fine (Appearance, Desktop & Screen Saver, Dock, etc). But my Accounts page took too long to load (it was blank) so I just figured my computer was being slow since it hadn't been shut down in a while. I usually just let my computer fall asleep so that when I use it again, I can just shake the mouse and it would be ready to go. I guess that is what triggered it. I was on the computer last night doing my usual stuff. I didn't download anything funny, didn't try to do any more updates, etc. But my computer was running extra slow so I decided to restart it. When my computer got to the log in screen, my administrator account wasn't showing. I have 2 accounts, the admin and one titled "Guest". It automatically took me to the Guest user log in. But when I entered that password it kept saying the password was incorrect. I know the password and I didn't have caps lock on or anything so there is something wrong with my user accounts and passwords. How do I fix this? More specifically, how do I fix my user accounts and passwords when I can't log into my computer through a standard account and my admin account isn't even showing up?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI hadn't used my notebook for about a week and when I turned it on the other day the password login page was missing and I noticed that the Administrator Account is also missing. I have tried to delete the two remaining accounts to see what would happen, but either I can't remember my ID name or the system won't let me delete the accounts because the admin is missing.Â
I have tried my Snow Leopard CD but it won't let me reinstall or run diagnostic.

Just used migration assistant to switch from an older iMac to a new iMac and now I have two admin accounts under Users & Groups. My name is slightly different on the two admin accounts. When I switch to the other admin account it appears the files are from ~2010. This admin account is greyed out, so I cannot seem to remove it. Is it taking up space? Will it create a problem?

We often have guests or baby sitters who want to use our Mac to browse the web,so I'd like to enable the Guest Account. The problem is that I have FileVault2 enabled on the family iMac. The combination (FileVault2+Guest) means that every time someone logs in to the guest account, they need to select the Wifi SSID and enter the Wifi password. Not all of our guests are confident with that, and if I'm not there it often can't be done. Is there a way I can configure the SSID and Password for wifi for the Guest Account so that the guest does not need to do it?Â
View 2 Replies View RelatedA freshly created account under 10.7.4. is a Admin account by default. The checkbox "Allow user to administer this computer" is grayed out. I end up with an Admin account and there is no way to convert this account into a Standard account. Facts: 10.7.4 - clean install on a current iMac i5 Freshly created account uses name of a deleted older account (my name)Repaired permissions several times (disk utility and "resetpassword utility" via terminal and safe boot)The older account had been relocated to a external disc for security reasons. I am trying to uninstall Virex 7.5. I have got the Terminal uninstall command which opens Terminal. So far, so good. However, Terminal is asking me for my admin password but it's not allowing me to enter it. The cursor is not blinking it's just a solid black oblong - just bl**dy sitting there! Absolutely no response to any key except the enter key - then terminal helpfully says, 'Sorry, try again' What's going on? I just wanna get rid of Virex!!!

I was messing around with Photo Booth, and clicked the account photo button, and it replaced the old one that i like with a new one...
How can i get my old one back? where was it located? I have made time machine backups, so maybe if i knew where the old photo is stored at, i could retrive it?

We had a HDD fail on one of our office Mac laptops (a power pc G4). Apple repaired it and I restored all files etc from a backup. I was the administrator during the restore. Before I could get back, the user changed that account to a standard account and changed the name. Now there is no way to change the account back, because there is no admin to authenticate the change. Anything I can do? I am not an advanced computer/Mac person.
View 21 Replies View RelatedI have just lost my user account that I normally use. It happened after I changed my name for my user account in the Finder. I clicked Get Info and changed the name from Helen Andersson to only Helen. and after that nothing is the same and i cant go back either that I know of. When I start the computer now everything that I had on my desktop and in my Itunes, Icalendar, addressbook, and Aperture are not there. I have found them (well at least what i had on my desktop and my itunes but not the other information), so they are still on the computer but I dont know how to get back to my normal user account.
When I check my System preferences Account I only have one account so its not like I made a new one and have two. But I can also see that the one I am using now that has nothing on it is made today.
So please if anyone can help me get my iMac to go back to the old user and all its settings the same way I would very much appreciate it. Because this user has nothing and I have to start everything from scratch even my internet settings I had to download again to be able to go on the internet. This user has nothing.
